MISSING TODDLER UPDATE

Here's what we know as the search for missing two-year-old Ruben Scott gets underway for a third day.

- Police yesterday re-covered ground and reviewed drone footage of their land-based searches, but found nothing
- Today their focus will turn to a dam near the property, which is about 100km away from Kowanyama in Cape York
- Police divers are entering the water while environmental experts monitor for crocodiles
- Acting Superintendent Mark Lingwood says they're being realistic with Ruben's family about the chances of finding the boy alive

Sadly:

"We've just had an heartbreaking update from police involved in the search for missing toddler Ruben Scott.

Queensland Police Service say the search for the 2-year-old won't stop, but have spoken with his family about the likelihood of his survival in these harsh conditions.

"It's with regret last night I had to sit with the family and advise them that the survivability of their son and grandson has now passed," Inspector Mark Henderson said today.

"That won't stop our efforts. We've had some 1,700 square kilometres, 450,000 square acres to search."

THE devastated grandfather of a toddler missing at a remote Cape York cattle station said their family was “preparing for the worst” as police confirm there is no chance he has survived.

Cape York police Insp Mark Henderson said he sat with the family last night to break the heartbreaking news that he could not have survived.

“It’s been a very hard task and we’ve given it our best, but paediatric experts tell us that survivability has passed,” he said.

So sad :(:(

I guess it has now become clear why the specialist counsellors were sent in today. So very heartbreaking for the family and close friends.

Toddler missing for 3 days found alive on 50-foot cliffside near strip mine

Kentucky State Police say a 22-month-old boy has been foundsafe, almost three days after disappearing from his rural Kentucky home.

IIRC, little Kenneth in Kentucky was found slightly farther away than they thought he could have gone. These little ones can last longer and go farther away from home than expected. Little Ruby could still be out there if he found a source of water to drink (and the crocs didn't get him :(). They need to expand the search radius by at least a mile. MOO.

An SES (state emergency services) drone is capturing the lake search. As can be seen in the pic, the lake is very, very close to the homestead.
The water looks murky, and quite weed saturated in areas. I guess it is possible that Ruben has fallen in and become entrapped in weeds.

"They are being assisted by EPA officers who are helping us gauge the level of crocodile infestation in that area," Henderson explained.
"It will be a long day, two or three days but as I said, we won't stop, we will continue to do our best."
SES personnel are to remain at the property and will help divers and to ensure no areas are missed.

Let’s hope he walked off in the opposite direction to the lake.
Someone might have driven off on a quad bike or truck and he followed a bit.

I hope they are retracing all the comings and goings of the workers‘ vehicles that day as he might have jumped in and then out when they stopped.
