Police divers have found a body believed to be two-year-old boy Ruben Scott, who went missing from a remote cattle station in Queensland on Tuesday.

Divers retrieved the body today from a large dam near the homestead on Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula.

“Our thoughts go out to Ruben’s family, friends and the communities of Maramie and Kowanyama, as well as everyone involved in the search during this difficult time,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

My condolences to Ruben’s poor family and friends. So tragic for all involved.:(

"At this stage, it is unclear how long he had been in the dam.

A report is being prepared for the coroner"

Aw man. So sorry Ruben.
At the same time, grateful.
He was found, predators didn't get him, parents didn't kill him... an accident happened. That is tragic, but it is refreshing that Ruben had a good life up until that moment. I wish more children did.

So sorry for this family. Especially sorry and sad for this sweet little boy. RIP Ruben. I awoke to this news and since we were already informed there was no chance he was alive, I suppose this is the best news possible.

Police presser at the bottom of this article. Some snippets of it ......

"At this point we have no idea how he has ended up down there"
"It will probably be the subject of the investigation by the Coroner as to what has happened there"
"Over 60 people involved in the search, including specialist units who have flown up from Brisbane to assist ... so many people from other properties in the community who rallied to find this little boy, an enormous effort on their behalf"
"The whole community is devastated. People are sending their thoughts and condolences from right across the country"
"There's no real warning to it .. anyone who's had a little boy or little girl knows what they're like. This is just a pure tragedy"
"Ongoing support will be provided"
"That area is home to many predators .. crocs, wild pigs, dingoes, wild dogs .. but it didn't come into play in this matter"
"They are absolutely exhausted .. everyone has done a marvellous job in trying to bring this little boy home. Incredibly sad circumstances that they weren't able to do that, but at least they can help to bring closure to this family, and he is not lost to the wilderness forever"

Devastating news. I'm thankful his body was found so that his family will at least have answers and he can be laid to rest. My prayers go out to them in this time of immense grief. His mom must be inconsolable right now.

Rest in Peace Little Ruby. :(

Just a little baby :(
Rest in peace, little angel.

Not to sound horrible but, at least this was not an alligator attack so the family has closure without questions and is able to lay him to rest.

I’m so sorry for their loss.

Yes. And it sounds as if Ruben was likely gone from this world very quickly ... well before the large searches were undertaken.
