I definitely missed something.
I am still recovering from my Covid vaccine, but when did the heading of this thread change to Deceased.
I probably have that brain fog that people talk about.

I’ve got two more for the list.

Warren Meyer missing 23rd march 2008
David Prideaux missing june 5th 2001.

I know it’s not new news, but seeing them all Written down...

I wonder what the stats are on disappearances/murder per month of the year in aus/Victoria.

Yes where are all these missing people. Everyone has to be somewhere.

Somewhere... waiting to be brought home.

Like cocoon part two.. It's not baffling that there's misadventure in the rugged high country,, but it's baffling that there's no discovery of them all

I've noticed something new re missing people.

It seemed to start last week and may be a Vic Police thing.

Googling around has found all the new cases where the Police appealed for help locating a missing person now only uses their first names.

It may be a privacy thing, or at least that's all I can think of.

I heard about this awhile back. I believe part privacy & part unwanted nuisance calls.

A good thing that has started in NSW is that they are sending out a text message to everyone in the area as soon as they hear someone is missing. It is a fabulous way, I think, to combine technology and public assistance.

It has already had a great result with an 83 year old man being found soon after he went missing.

Good news! The missing 83-year-old man from Hornsby was found in Hornsby just before 8am as a result of the geo-targeting SMS alert issued to local residents. Thank you to the media and community who helped.

The new geo-targeting alert system was rolled out across the state on Thursday. Once an SMS alert is issued for a missing person, the message can reach up to half-a-million people within five kilometres of a target area in metropolitan cities, including Sydney and Newcastle, and up to 20km in regional areas.
https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...essages will include,how to report a sighting.

Thanks South, I had seen that and wondered exactly how it would work. I presume you need to sign up to be part of it.

I signed up to get emergency alerts from our council years ago. Have yet to receive one but I guess that's a good thing.

I did see the news about the Hornsby man and wondered how he was found so quickly. I thought it was just lucky that he was seen by someone he knew. Not knowing then, that it was the new system.

The year before carol & Russell went missing we were up that way , not as far as won but a town . We were in a group one night & had a strange/scary encounter with a strange man ( not buttons) this man had a bad fixation about drones & that he believed the gov were following him . He also followed us... His saving grace might be that he didn’t have a four wheel drive to tackle the terrain up there but a low base normal car . I do believe the police were told about this incident at the time. I suppose it's ok to post this if it's not taken off by the mods... I repeat scary

Do you mean he wasn't driving a 4WD that night or you know he didn't have one?

He wasn't driving one that night & thought his only car bc he looked like he lived in it. It's not too say he doesn't have another car though.

Fair enough. He didn't have the appearance of an owner of multiple vehicles.
No he didn't. .. He talked about a murder that happened near city that he was a witness. A well known case. , he then imitated what he thought happened in the case with making stabbing gestures at my chest ..mmm. obviously would have been looked into and cleared...

So when the Police were searching & finding shovels and other things, I presume they were also using metal detectors?

I didn't see any in any of the pics or videos we saw.

Hmm, just a thought... i wonder if the Police have released information on a search and possible lead in the investigation just to get a reaction from someone...

If a perp saw this news and knew that it has nothing to do with the disappearances then a reaction from someone either way would be telling...

Perhaps the police know the shovels are likely to not have anything to do with the disappearances but are just using this as a tool (pardon the pun)...

Like someone saying "I knew they wouldn't find anything there".

Which on it's own might mean nothing, but to someone who knew they'd been in the area around that time, it might add to any suspicions they already had.
