Omg that heat, that terrain. Question from a dumb American for my Aussie WS friends. I've seen similar outback pictures recently in the search for little Gus. When people go missing in the outback are they generally located or is the area so vast it's only with luck that they'll be found?

From SA Police:

Trisha was at the Roxby Downs hotel at 12.19am on Friday 12 December. She left a short time later and was driving a white 2012 Ford Territory, SA registration S254BCX, accompanied by a friend.

After leaving the hotel Trisha travelled from Roxby Downs towards Andamooka before colliding with a kangaroo a short distance from the Andamooka Township.

After striking the kangaroo Trisha and her friend continued onto Andamooka where they visited a home in the north-western area of the town. After a short time Trisha left just before 2am to travel the short distance home. Trisha was last seen driving along Dunstan Drive, Andamooka.

Just after midday on Friday 12 December 2025, Trisha’s partner and a friend were searching for her when they located Trisha’s Ford Territory, which was perched on a dirt mound near the Blue Dam east of Andamooka.

The vehicle had accident damage caused by the collision with the kangaroo, but was unable to be driven because of its location on the dirt mound.

Her thongs were found with her vehicle and we would have expected to locate her if she had simply wandered off a short distance.

I wonder if Trisha had a phone, there’s no mention of it in the press conference.

So it sounds like she had no shoes, as her thongs were found near the car and they think they were the only shoes she had with her.
She had a partner and two small children.

I am surprised that the only photos released of Trisha are the cctv of her on her night out and the headshot, which I honestly don’t believe would be the only photo of her that family could provide.

Her neutral expression in the photo makes me wonder if it was an ID photo or “mugshot.” I am not suggesting she has any criminal history, the photo just has a very different feel about it to the smiling happy person in the cctv photos.

Have her partner or friends made any public appeals for her whereabouts?

South Australia drivers license

If your smile is your best feature, we have some bad news. Flashing those pearly whites is against the rules. Guidelines for Australian driver’s licence photos follow the same strict rules as passport photos. That means no smiling; you must have a neutral expression and your mouth closed.
