i think he has a girlfriend, some msm articles mention a "current" girlfriend, wondering if the chihuahua belonged to her, theres a tiny dog seen escaping his property when the door is opened in the robbery video, but only the staffie is mentioned as being left alone in his flat

Oops, I thought that was a cat that came screeching out the door in the video - have seen a photo along the way somewhere in an article of Sam with a chihuahua type little doggy.

Was Sam living with his girlfriend at the house the robbery occurred at? She opened the door?

one of the msm articles/video describing the robbery says a female opened the door after hearing noises outside and her male partner then got up, there are no names mentioned but i assume its samuel as its his flat and car they robbed

I found this article
(quote)
Mr Thompson’s parents reported him missing last week after finding his dog abandoned in his flat — something they insist he would never willingly allow to happen. His mobile phone and social media accounts have not been used since his last contact with family on Tuesday.
http://www.news.com.au/national/cri...w/news-story/90d2fbb1c06192d870a32a1729263dd4

If he had his phone with him they would be able to get where it last pinged i would imagine?

Good to know that the dog was taken into loving arms quickly, it is what any of us would want.

Looking at the dates for when Sam went overseas according to his facebook- they line up completely with members of his family also going overseas. Sam's pics are of him overseas, but it seems to be a family holiday. Doesn't explain all of his expensive purchases, but does shed some light on the European holiday.

He went on Holidays in January. .....

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that his family went with him or..... him with them..

None of the family members make any mention of being overseas in January on their FB pages....??

Anyone else checked this out? ...... I'm not seeing any family members going overseas in January...??

ETA .... it came as a suprise to his dad that he was going to buy the Mustang.... that makes me think....dad knew he didn't or at least shouldn't have the
Resources to afford one...

wasn't it Contiki (from memory)!?

The fact that his "friends" have remained relatively quite on social media.....speaks volumes...

Not sure if was Contiki or not. ....but none of his family members has posted anything about an overseas holiday....so Im a bit miffed why Mel1303 would say their timelines match up on FB as it being a family holiday.

Like to keep to facts ..... no evidence that I can see that it was a family holiday.

I think Sam had broken up from any girlfriend. There are comments by him on his FB page alluding to a break up ... I think there was an ice comment, and maybe a different comment about coming back from schoolies pregnant and glad it wasn't his. Don't take my word for this exactly. I am going by memory.

I know!! Me too!! I don't understand why this is all happening on Day 15.....

It may be that they are trying to isolate who was in that car that day. Otherwise they are going to have to track down every single car of that make, model and colour to establish its whereabouts at the time. To help locate Sam ... and in prep for any future arrest and trial, should they be required.

Sounds like it could be the other car that any perps may have needed after they dumped Sam's car. I wonder if he noticed it following him? If that is what it was doing. You would think police will have gathered some useful CCTV from along the way by now.
Maybe this car keeps appearing in it, close behind Sam's car.

ETA: Oh, I hadn't watched the video in the Courier Mail link before I posted. They do have CCTV of the car following Sam, and have police recruits reviewing ''hundreds if not thousands'' of CCTV images looking for further links and clues.

I guess I'm wondering why they didn't advise the family to hold a press conference far earlier too? Usually press conferences are held fairly quickly after a disappearance, aren't they? To help jog people's memories when the whole thing is still fresh in their minds.

(That's no criticism of the family, btw. My heart goes out to them. I'm commenting more on LE here I guess......just a few odd ingredients in this case imo)

Feeling so bad for Sam's family, too. They are absolutely heartbroken. Their pain is palpable.

I guess that police have a strategy with the presser. Maybe to let the perp(s) know that they are onto them? Show them the heartbreak they have caused? Maybe it will help someone associated with the perp(s) - someone with a kind heart - to make an anonymous Crime Stoppers call with some good, more specific info?

Hmmmm....I only just read this article.

Maybe this is why the late presser - trying to generate new leads.

I'm hoping it does indeed touch someone who knows something and prompt them to help by calling Crimestoppers, like you said SouthAussie.

Mr Thompsons’ heartbroken family fronted the media today, as police revealed they had no leads and no suspects in the case.

Police use divers and sniffer dog to search more of North Pine River in hunt for missing Brisbane man Samuel Thompson.

That search happened today.

More news on channel 7 Brisbane tonight about what they call 'the secretive search ' for Samuel

It appears that a fair bit of planning has gone into making Sam disappear without a trace and I think that a group of 2 or 3 are involved and this is money related. This looks like a a premeditated hit not an accident. My gut tells me Sam may never be found, hope I am wrong. Prayers with Sam's family.
