In the early hours of March 8, a patrol spotted Mr Thompson’s orange 2016 Ford Mustang, with licence plate SAMMO, parked at the Tinchi Tamba Wetlands at Deep Water Bend, north of Brisbane.
The car was unlocked and the driver’s window was down. The patrol checked the vehicle, but it would be another day *before Mr Thompson’s family told police he was missing.

I think the police liaison person usually points the families of crimes such as this in that direction, as well as giving them info about counselling services and such.

The money is available after the judgement comes down. Years away for them unfortunately. It is based on the victim impact statement

What is the Mustang situation I wonder - ST seems to have amassed quite a deal of luxury items from his dealings - could the family sell those I wonder?

I would think so if they want to do that? The vehicle could still be impounded because of the police investigation?

I know what you mean SouthAussie.

I would like to know where in the food chain these boys fit in. For example, were they three friends who decided to dabble and one of them moves himself to number one and dishes out the work for the rest of them. Lets take a drug gang, so you have the guy at the top and everyone all the way through has and knows their place.

Maybe these boys were small fish who hit lucky. RB and AD could be sitting around saying hey we all put money into this at the start and when did ST become boss. So if they are operating as a trio and buying in supply from a disassociated source - ie someone who is not regulating the drugs trade in the area, then I could see how tensions could flair. Esp, at the risk of annoying some people with this, but esp as AD is quite possibly a timebomb. (JMO he thinks he thinks the world owes him)

It would be really unusual for a lower peg(s) to do this to a higher peg. Because then there is an even higher peg to deal with. A higher peg who may be quite dangerous. imo

Just to back up my previous.. .

Seeing as how the murder and subsequent cover up was carried out, these boys are nothing special. They are bumbling gangsters. If RB/AD were real leaders in this game, they sure as hell would know how to cover up...

Unless.. they were all 'employed' by a higher up, and ST began to break away so dumb and dumber got the orders to get rid.

If I don't stop now I will fill this thread with my ramblings... everytime I type I think of something new.

All at a very volatile age. And they may have sampled some new gear :(

Or are these also proceeds of crime? - the million $ question!

I just looked up what actually happens to proceeds of crime -

The funds from confiscated assets are deposited into the Confiscated Assets Account, which is managed by the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) on behalf of the Commonwealth.

The funds can be used to benefit the community through crime prevention, intervention or diversion programs or other law enforcement initiatives. The Attorney-General's Department support the Minister in managing programs of expenditure from the Confiscated Assets Account.

As said previously I can remember last year the Mustang being stolen and announced on the radio, its an expensive car, not in the same league as a $45k Prado

Well, yes. That is a very valid scenario that I had not considered. If they were three friends/associates and Sam somehow got himself to be the leader of their particular game.

"If" they were all involved in criminal activity? It really hasn't been verified yet has it? I'm not sure what to think about that at this stage, and it would be good if we knew the motive behind this murder IMO.

Some time back I was worried he had won over their regular buyers.

If they were doing drugs together it doesn't necessarily mean they were drug dealers either.

That is what we are searching for. Nancy Grace isn't about to leap out and tell us the latest, and they aren't booked for Judge Judy.
