I am really wondering now what was found in her car? They said after they found it that they "weren't suspicious or concerned for her safety". Does that mean they found evidence that she may have been gone already? (Like maybe major blood loss?) I am just so confused how it goes from one extreme to the other. I thought it was really bold of LE to say those things and now it looks as though she has been brutally murdered, IMO. That bothers me, big time! :banghead:

My feelings exactly, SN. I've been incredibly frustrated since the news of finding her car and then they come out and say that they weren't concerned for her safety as such and then 24 hours later homicide have taken over the case, then this. Absolutely heartbreaking!

I don't think they have gone from bumbling idiots with regards to statements made about her car on the 16th to having a search warrant and finding her remains on Sunday the 18th ... it may have been a strategic report, or the car may have genuinely given them nothing to be concerned with as they followed up other leads.

Looks like the police may have been onto something from quite early on after all :( How dreadful for poor Sarah's family when they probably had their hopes up that she would eventually be home safely.
Lots of FB pages have been yanked now. I did check SH's map which listed The Rape Dungeon among other places he had tagged - but I didn't think it matched the Point Cook address, but I may be wrong. When I checked out his page I didn't really see anything other than the silly map markers that looked out of the ordinary. If anything his few posts looked a bit soppy.

Do a search for The Rape Dungeon on FB and you may be surprised at how many appear - I just counted 45 of them listed (mostly in Australia, embarrassingly enough) as local businesses, no less. I am guessing this is some sort of stupid young male slang, and they have just appeared when people "check in" on fb. You just type in where you are, and fb registers it as a "place". The spot gets tagged on a map, and the page keeps tally of how many people have also checked in - e.g. there is one listed for Fitzroy which has 60 likes, and says 662 people have visited!

It's shameful that the idea of rape is still the fodder of jokes/innuendo among a large chunk of the population.

catwhiskers, you would have got australian locations because of your location I am guessing ... fb filters a lot, it is very tricky to search outside the automatic filtering even when you want to

I saw the news mentioning power tools late at night too. You have to wonder... :(

Are we allowed to bring that here?

FruitTingles, you're right. I shouldn't have posted that. I've now deleted it. Would you mind deleting your post quoting it. Ta. x

No worries! Done. I didn't mean to sound like I was being snarky or anything, I would just seriously hate for any of us to get in to trouble! And it also saves a mod having to get upset :)

Latest update, November 18, 2012 9:13PM. We already know most of what is in this article but it does mention about the post-mortem.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/br...-melbourne-house/story-e6frf7kf-1226519070561

On Saturday night, police searched a home in Fongeo Drive, Point Cook, in Melbourne's southwest and in the early hours of Sunday found what they described as "human remains".

Detective Sergeant Mark Hatt said the body was yet to be formally identified.

He would not reveal whether anyone was at the Point Cook home at the time of the discovery or the nature of the injuries the dead woman was believed to have suffered.

He said a post-mortem examination would carried out over the next few days.

Sounds as though it will be a few days before we know anything more.

Wow, some of the comments on FB make me ashamed to be Australian.. but I guess until they outlaw sociopaths owning computers, that's what going to happen..

Whomever's remains those are, I hope her killer gets the full extent of justice he deserves.

I have to say, it's pretty hard to remain hopeful it's not her.

I'm really noticing that people have less and less self control with what they say and do, online and offline. There doesn't seem to be any care or respect for themselves or others. Society is imploding.

Well said AAS. All self control seems to have completely gone out the window along with people's safety! What is this world coming to? :(

A MANHUNT was under way after the body of a woman believed to be Sarah Cafferkey was found in a house in Melbourne's west.

Herald Sun November 19, 2012 12:00AM

Neighbours believe the house where two men were renting had been vacant for about a week, but they had not seen a woman enter it.

Catherine Bennett, who lives near the Fongeo Drive house, said two men rented the house but she had not seen anyone there for the past week.

"One of them had only just moved in about four to six weeks ago," she said.

"He had a little dog and we didn't see him much. I haven't seen him for a good week or so. It's scary. It's horrible.

The photo included in Herald report states Sarah was last seen at a friends house on 10th November.

Also in the same report it mentions the following, which seems to be another conflicting piece of info.

BBM

The case, which was taken up by the homicide squad in the middle of last week, is now considered a murder investigation

Not sure why the quote didn't show up but the fact that it was quoted the tenant had a little dog again sparked my interest.

This guy I have in my mind as a suspect has a little dog he calls his baby.
In regard to the maps he has on his profile- I google mapped the details I got from his profile and it did match the location of the house where the body was found. Also, the houses look similar in the estate and he has a pic which looks very much like the houses in this estate.

I would be questioning why a guy who looks quite old is hanging out with and commenting on a 21 year olds FB regardless.

I'm tired of hearing about these male predators. Just sickening.
