Okay now I'm crying. :*(
The pictures just make it all the more real. Such innocent smiling faces. I have no idea how their poor mother will ever recover from this. Most selfish, evil thing anyone could ever do. Why don't these people who do these things just save everyone the misery and kill themselves instead!
Can never become desensitized to the senseless loss of innocent childrens lives no matter how often I hear it.This is horrendous.

I am at a loss of what to say. These two darling babies shouldn't have met this fate. Their mother shouldn't have this cross to bear.

Feeling so sad for them.

I had only just finished reading another story from the US where a man shot his son(or step-son) by accident - he was trying to shoot his wife. :(
http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/news/texas/article_bb70a527-97ff-5ca9-af53-46ae683e4579.html (the boy's injuries were not life threatening.. but still)
These stories are just wicked. :(

As i read this i couldn't help but take notice of the growing trends of crimes like this, particularly in Melbourne who in the last few months have had several domestic violence cases escalate resulting in senseless deaths of innocent victims.

In February, Luke Batty was beaten to death with a cricket bat by his father after cricket practice.

Last week a mother of four was stabbed to death out the front of a shopping center by her estranged husband in front of one of her children.

And now this...

This is all just this year - within four months, how many more will it take until something is done?

Yes - Resources are stretched to the limit, The police are often notified and intervention orders are served, people are warned and take caution, yet tragedy's like this occur and seem to be accumulating in numbers.

But what can we do? As a society we have the habit of sweeping abuse under the rug, because nobody likes to talk about it, Because it's too dark or depressing. Maybe if we did, some of these deaths could of been prevented.

Honestly sorry for the spiel and it's probably off topic, but honestly this just broke my heart.

MSM update

A three-year-old girl was taken to hospital after her father allegedly abandoned her in a burning car after a domestic incident in Ellenbrook.

Police were called to a domestic disturbance at an Ellenbrook home about 10.10pm.

The car was found crashed into a concrete barrier on Great Eastern Highway, near the Roe Highway on-ramp, a short time later.

It was on fire and the man had fled the scene on foot, leaving the three-year-old in the burning car.

The girl was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital after police rescued her from the car.

She is in a critical but stable condition.

Was this depression or a wilful act?

What is depression?

While we all feel sad, moody or low from time to time, some people experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time (weeks, months or even years) and sometimes without any apparent reason. Depression is more than just a low mood – it's a serious illness that has an impact on both physical and mental health.

Well, that is the third different COD that we have heard now. And still no word from the police.

Such silence surrounding this case. Word is trickling out very slowly. Is it because it has been difficult to reach all the families - if he is originally from Tanzania?

.

More recent pic, released by the family.

GIRLS3-300x0.jpg

'We are utterly devastated at the loss of Savannah and Indianna,' the family's statement said.

A friend of the girls’ mother said he is in shock about what’s happened.
‘‘I just can’t believe it,’’ he said. ‘‘She’s always talking about her kids. She’s always dotting on them. They were like the apple of her eye.’’

He said he never met her ex-husband, who is now charged with two counts of murder.
‘‘By the time I met her, about two years ago, they had already split up.’’

I just wish the punishment for these acts actually fit the crime!!! It's too easy for them. This usually happens as payback to mum and/or not wanting to pay child support. It pi$$es me off so much that most of the time mental illness is used as defence! Well you know what, that is such a cop out! Yes there are exceptions, but these people are angry and looking for revenge! These dads, driving their kids into lakes on Father's Day, throwing their kids off bridges on the first day of school, beating them with a bat at cricket practice!!! It goes on and on! They don't care about doing a few years in jail, we need tougher laws and harsher sentences. These babies have died for nothing but the selfishness of an angry man!!! End rant!! Sorry, I'm just so mad!!!

High-profile domestic violence murders 'tip of the iceberg'

Updated 21 minutes ago

Recent high-profile cases of domestic violence have sparked fury at a lack of action and represent 'the tip of the iceberg' suggests Domestic Violence Victoria CEO, Fiona McCormack.

SARAH FERGUSON, PRESENTER: A peaceful Easter Sunday in the northern suburbs of Melbourne was shattered yesterday by the deaths of two little girls, aged three and four.

The sisters were reportedly killed at their grandmother's home. A 35-year-old man, whom police say was known to the girls, has been charged with their murder. He's believed to be their father.

This attack follows the killing of 11-year old Luke Batty two months ago, beaten to death by his father in front of his mother.

These are the cases that make the news, but there are hundreds of other acts of domestic violence against women and children reported every day

The problem is the sentences for murder are not a deterrent and won't be a deterent even if it was the death penalty. These guys (and some moms) aren't thinking "oh well its only 10 or 20 years in prison" they aren't thinking beyond their narcissistic ego needs Their jealousy and anger fuels it all. Look at the number who also commit suicide afterwards, they don't care about what will happen to them in the way people who aren't violent abusers do. Jail is worth it to them to have caused revenge and pain.

That is why it is so difficult to stop, the sentences mean nothing, no matter how harsh. The other day there was a guy who got out of prison for dv and a month later shot his ex wife with their infant son sitting between them and then turned himself into police. He knew what prison was like and didn't care, the over riding need was to kill her.

IMO just like we have checkups as teens and kids we need mental health checkups the same way, to catch problems as they are starting and get the children into treatment to learn different ways of behaving, to deal with their emotions and do so in a way that hurts no one. It should be free as well so all children have the opportunity for treatment as issues arise. These guys aren't made in a day. Most of these guys jealousy stems from self esteem issues, depression and/or anger management issues from teens or younger on. I don't say that as an excuse for them but as something that needs to be changed to protect our little children
