Serial Rapist Robert Fardon Back in Prison After Hospital Stay
Fardon has spent half his adult life in jail (since the age of 18 years for rape). He was subject to a law which enabled him to be detained indefinitely in 2003 for crimes against women and children. Lawyers have been advocating his release back into the community ... but the State Government was awarded a stay of proceedings in the Court of Appeal. Previously assessed as a psychopath and a moderate risk of reoffending, an appeal hearing today will determine whether he will be released.
If this Appeal is successfu, QLD could have the toughest laws in the country in dealing with serial rapists such as Fardon and Bayley. Well done to the Attorney General for acting in the interests of the community and championing this change in the Law.

Sex offender Robert John Fardon's case delayed
October 9, 2013 - 10:56AM
Justice Philip Morrison adjourned the matter to Thursday and extended the stay order to keep Fardon in prison until 4pm (AEST) on Thursday.
Justice Morrison told the court the main reason for the delay was because a previous court transcript on the matter was not available yet.

Qld Rapist Fardon To Stay In Jail For Now
AAP October 10, 2013, 7:32 pm
Robert John Fardon, 64, will stay in jail pending the outcome of a court appeal next month after a Brisbane judge ruled there was a real risk he would attack again.
Justice Philip Morrison ruled there were arguable grounds to appeal and accepted arguments by Mr Bleijie's barrister that the original judge did not give enough weight to some of the psychiatrists' evidence about Fardon.
Justice Morrison said Fardon had an inability to fully commit to supervision and there was a "real risk" of danger to the community if he was released before the appeal.
Looks like QLD Attorney General has acted proactively in the best interests of the safety of women and children in the community. What a relief to see the Law beginning to deal with these 'unacceptable risks' before they are released on Parole. Well done.

Child Protection Groups 'Nervous' About Fardon Appeal
By Francis Tapim, Updated 2 hours ago.
Queensland child protection advocates say they have grave concerns serial sex offender Robert Fardon could be released from jail.
Bravehearts criminologist Carol Ronken says it is a case the State Government cannot afford to lose.
"We really do praise the Attorney-General for his fight for the safety of this community," she said.

Well done Attorney General and Bravehearts for advocating this legal challenge in the best interests of community safety. As a part of our society, our Laws have the Legal power to detain indefinitely this 'unacceptable risk' so that no further violent attacks are inflicted upon any more women and children. The article is well worth a read IMO.

Here in Victoria our parole board lives in la la land. They let everyone out on parole then when they breach parole nothing is done about it until the ccriminal does something then we are warned not to go near them if we see them because they are extremely dangerous. If they were so dangerous why did they let them out?

Using a tablet. Which has a vocabulary all of its own.

So disappointing - unless part of a bigger legal challenge to create change in the legal system for these dangerous offenders.

Notorious Sex Offender Fardon Arrested
SeptemberR 03, 2014 5:07AM

NOTORIOUS Queensland sex offender Robert John Fardon has been arrested in Brisbane for breaching his supervision order.

Well, IMO and in the opinion of many others, this outcome was entirely predictable.
Hopefully another woman and/or child has not become a victim as a result of the poor decision to release this well established perpetrator back into the community. My opinion only.

Notorious Qld Rapist Due to Face Court
September 03, 2014 6:50am

A NOTORIOUS rapist who was the first to be jailed in Queensland indefinitely could be back in court as early as Wednesday after he allegedly breached his supervision order...He's due to face a hearing in the Supreme Court and that could happen as soon as Wednesday.

Fardon has spent most of his adult life in jail for sex crimes against women and children and was freed only after a protracted legal battle by Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie, who wanted him kept behind bars.
