I thought too that it was a snorkel. I struggled to identify make and model though... Even on computer screen. It would be helpful if LE had the vehicle correctly identified and released that info.

I would take a guess that it's close to a 1993 Toyota Hi Lux Dual Cab

Yes it's unusal for police not to issue at least the make of the car.

By looks it's a Toyota Hi-Lux. I've no idea whether it's the same model as this one.

My first thought was a hilux around that model or up to the early 2000's, it's definitely not a recent model, they're much rounder. They would be the most common dual cab around in the older models. Its just so hard to be sure, the pics are so pixelated... My hubby drives a 2000 hilux dual cab it's nor here right now though otherwise I'd compare wheel arches etc to try and work it out.

It is strange that the police haven't released the make/model of the vehicle. Perhaps they are trying to put pressure on someone that they have already identified? Someone who is not cooperating, or has an 'alibi' for the time period in question?

Good one Marly. I actually searched yesterday to see if a thread had been started for this poor girl. How could this happen?

The RIP FB page - https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/RIP-Shandee-Blackburn/344888108949597

Another thing that I just noticed .... this RIP FB page ^^^ for Shandee is now completely gone. When I click on the link it just takes me to my own FB page.

Is that usual after this amount of time (or any amount of time) has passed?

Although , maybe they closed it and use this FB page instead ... Justice for Shandee Blackburn. It is an open group, but you need to log on to see it.

There is a post on the Justice for Shandee Blackburn page that says the vehicle is a 'white Toyota Hilux late 90's model according to opinion'.

You WSers know your cars! :)

I've just gone back & looked at the press release about it. Maybe they're hoping one or the other will do a bit of talking.

Police are appealing for assistance from members of the public to identify the white vehicle pictured above as police believe the occupant/s of the vehicle may be able to assist the investigation

Underneath that police post about the car there's a quite funny comment which compares the CCTV camera to a potato.

I think most are aware these days of the value of CCTV footage. The cameras that are available now capture incredibly clear footage & they're mostly inexpensive. I think they should all be updated regularly....along with installing more of them in all areas.

I completely agree, Marly. It always amazes me when you see CCTV footage today that's grainy and hard to make out......there's no reason for it with today's technology. :twocents:

LE are now offering a reward for information that leads to a conviction in this case.

It been more than a year since Shandee Blackburn, 23, was repeatedly stabbed as she walked home from work in Mackay.

Police are still hunting for the person who left her to die in the street on February 9 last year........Police Minister Jack Dempsey says a reward of $250,000 is available......

Hopefully that helps!!:please:

Whoa .. some new info .. thanks marly!

So it looks as though they have had feedback about the white ute they told us about earlier, and now they are also looking for another person who they have not yet been able to discount from the investigation.

Crime and Support Services Detective Inspector Karyn Murphy said police had received a number of phone calls regarding footage of a vehicle of interest released earlier this year.

"There is one caller in particular we'd like to recontact us, that caller contacted CrimeStoppers and stated they had seen that vehicle at the Girl Guide Hut at Juliet Street on the night in question," she said.

Shandee could have walked right past the girl guide hut, and the white ute if it was still there. I wonder if she walked to work as well as home from work.

We both posted Sleepinoz - I can't believe it and I am glad that they have a result. I have a feeling they have always known who it was but had put the person under surveillance waiting to gain enough evidence for a charge. I need to go back and read the whole article. So glad there has been a result! :loveyou:

This is great news. They haven't released who they have arrested.
