The sons of NSW teacher Sharon Edwards are in shock their father has been charged with her murder

ONE of slain Grafton teacher Sharon Edwards’ sons says he doesn’t “know what to think” now his father has been charged with her murder.

“I guess we knew [an arrest] was coming one day but it was still out of the blue,” Eli Edwards told news.com.au.

The arrest of their father was not something the three sons wanted to consider. Last year — after police confirmed he was a suspect — Eli told news.com.au they had asked him if he was involved.
He told them he wasn’t. Eli said last year they believed him.

He was told of the arrest yesterday by a detective and within 30 minutes friend were contacting him to say they’d seen media reports of his father being taken into custody.
“I just told everyone I only just found out myself. And I know nothing.”
Eli didn’t know how he was feeling. “I don’t know what to think to be honest, I haven’t made up my mind.”
He would speak to his father when he was given the opportunity because there was things they needed to “sort out”.

The last contact he’d had with his father was on Friday when he texted his son happy birthday.

Mrs Edwards son Eli also spoke at the funeral, reading from the book of Ecclesiastes.

Mrs Edwards estranged husband, John, who has been named by police as a suspect in her disappearance, was not at the funeral.

'We miss her dearly': Sons' tribute to slain mother as their father is charged with murder

"As a family, we are still coming to terms with the latest developments of our mother's case," they said in a family statement.
"It's something that no family should ever have to go through.


"We miss her dearly. She was such a beautiful and loving person. We are working with the police to help them with their investigation."

Today in their statement they did not mention their father, only their mother.

One of the two other sons or recently both of them (not the married one in the pic above) seemed to me being somewhat shamefaced/embarrassed when they got photographed with their offbeat dad.

I would be that he hasn't been for quite some time. Do we know when he was last employed as a teacher?

I am unable to open 9 's article regarding details about JE's girlfriend.
Please could a websleuther provide info as I'm very interested?

Could JE have known her before SE disappeared?
I know she was not from NSW.

Being a teacher in the past, he could be in touch with many Librarians, for different articles throughout the country.

All my own thoughts.

Searching for when JE was last employed and just found out he was a primary school teacher! I thought he taught high school, like the sciences or metal work :p, and Sharon taught primary.
More information should be available about his work history now he's in the news again.

“I’ve been just sitting at home wracking my brains out going crazy,” he said.
“We just love her and miss her so much ... She wouldn’t have an enemy in the world.
“She’s a lovely person, she’s a great person.”

His use of the word enemy reminds me of the saying, 'sleeping with the enemy', the victim's partner plotting and scheming, spying and creeping about until they crack and kill.

But that article just says 'former' primary school teacher. I have a long standing friend whose brother was a school teacher and was sacked in the late seventies for drug use and has never worked at anything since, but still calls himself a school teacher. Lives in the same area as this man. All the hippy druggie types went to the Northern Rivers area.

Came up with nothing, no work history for him, we can only speculate at this stage. He looks cancer ridden to me probably smokes heavily and into the hard booze. Could be drugs too, surely the sons would know?

No, no cancer, I would bet he is just doing 12 bongs a day and not eating or by the looks of it doing any personal hygiene. He may be on more than MJ.
