Family and friends of murdered Sophie Collombet to gather in Saint-Julien-Mont-Denis for funeral

April 15, 2014

FRENCH student Sophie Collombet will be laid to rest in her home town tomorrow.

Friends and family will gather in the small village of Saint-Julien-Mont-Denis to remember the student, after her body was returned to France late last week

For Mrs Trott, the loss of her friend Sophie still doesn’t seem real.

“It will take time to heal but we need to keep positive and keep hoping for a better world,” she said.

Last Wednesday a group from Francaustralia Education, French Assist and the Queensland Police visited Sophie’s apartment in South Brisbane to pack her belongings to send back to her family.

A spokeswoman from French Assist described Sophie’s empty bedroom as a snapshot of a studious and organised young woman.

“Her books and paperwork were on her desk, it was like time was suspended and she should have walked in at any moment,” she said.

The goodbye of Saint-Julien-Montdenis Sophie Collombet killed in Australia

This Wednesday, April 16, is a human tide that swept to the gates of the cemetery of Saint-Julien-Montdenis. A crowd came to pay a last tribute to Sophie Collombet, murdered in Australia.

In the small village of Maurienne, not everyone knew Sophie. But the sudden death of the child in the country has touched the heart. To support the family, they are pressed by the hundreds, entering the procession. Head, just behind the hearse and family, musicians with whom Sophie had used to play, trying to whisper tunes she loved. It was far from the savagery that took her away, but so close to the memories of the young woman.

Morcombes swamped with 10,000 emails and cries for help

TROUBLED, lost and grieving people across Australia are turning to Bruce and Denise Morcombe for advice.

And the Morcombes are answering the call, personally meeting some of those desperate for help.
Last night the couple talked to Australian soldiers who are battling to cope with the effects of being in a war zone or a disaster area.

A week earlier, Denise went to Mount Isa to lend an ear to the family of missing teenager Kyle Coleman.

Earlier in the month they were in Brisbane to be with a friend of brutally murdered French student Sophie Collombet.

Luke Batty's mother, Rosie, has sought the Morcombes' advice on how to set up a foundation to honour the memory of her son, who was killed by his father with a cricket bat in February.

as per this reference
BM, 25, did not look at anyone in the courtroom and kept his eyes firmly fixed on the ground as Magistrate Ann Thacker adjourned his case until May 19.
