Australia Australia - Tegan Lane, 2 days old, Sydney, 14 Sept 1996 *K. Lane guilty*

  • #281
October 2002 - Detective Gaut takes over the investigation and .................

The court heard that the first Ms Lane's parents knew of their three grandchildren was in February 2003, when an investigating officer informed them............................

The first police investigation attracted criticism, with questions over why it took police two years to interview Ms Lane. It was later revealed that the detective in charge of the investigation had worked with Ms Lane's father at Manly police station, and had gone to school with Ms Lane.

Twelve years on, they're still digging for baby Tegan

So this detective in charge was a roughly 25 year old Keohe?

I was just thinking of the ‘casualty list’ in this case. Keli’s children, their fathers, her long term boyfriends and husband, at least two police officers, a DoCS worker, her parents, even the trial judge. I find the secondary suffering wrought on those human beings (and more than likely others that I haven’t mentioned) via Keli’s actions extremely sad. No doubt Keli was and still is suffering too and I have compassion for her but to visit her suffering on other human beings is more than sad, it is an act of violence. ‘Nice girl’, indeed.

*respectfully snipped*
Keli panicked about sexual shaming when facing unwelcome interrogations. It was a manipulation in my opinion.

*respectfully snipped*

There were, according to Nice Girl, some discrepancies between the Morris and Norris versions:

Morris version:

* About 9 or so years older than Keli
* living with Mel in Balmain 95-96
* tall, tanned, well-built blond banker who went to Sydney uni
* made a plan when fell pregnant (no mention of animosity)
* visited by Andrew, Mel, and Andrew’s mother
* said Andrew drove her to Duncan’s house
* saw Tegan several times over 3-4 months
* no friends knew Andrew
* had drinks with Andrew for his 30th birthday in July or August 96

Norris version:
* said Andrew reacted angrily re the pregnancy, called her a 🤬🤬🤬🤬, said she was trying to trap him... but agreed to take the baby
* said that she had no contact again with Andrew until the hospital, when asked about the birthday drinks as per the Morris statement, Keli said they were both present at the pub at the same time but weren’t together
* said her friend Lisa knew him but she had lost contact with Lisa (both things were untrue)
* said only Andrew visited but Mel and mum were present at the handover
* Andrew did not drive her home

Keli’s explanation for the discrepancies is that she felt ashamed of Andrew’s behaviour towards her. I am more cynical though and I speculate that Keli was trying to make her story more sympathetic, poor me etc. she also told Detective Gaut in the Norris story that she “nearly died” during Tegan’s birth. She did lose a bit of blood but was certainly no where near death. I also wonder if the claims that her parents would be angry were a bid for sympathy as well, trying to get Gaut to feel sorry for her? Her parents might have been a bit distant and the conversation might be unpleasant but they did not abandon her during her final pregnancy, which was also conceived before marriage, far from it, and have even stuck by her through a murder conviction.
Just would like to add my take to the '🤬🤬🤬🤬 version' of the Andrew MNorris story.

I guess she sensed the good Andrew story wasn't working with the police officer, so she made up a bad Andrew instead. Habitual liars like her are very quick at adapting with people and situations IMO.

And now she's considering to change her story again, to "not sure about Andrew's last name". Maybe she's sensing that is not working with Caro and Dr Buise.

You really can't trust anything she's telling, without backing evidence.

New podcast episode just released this morning with Caro Meldrum-Hanna talking about the case if anyone is interested.

I'm no Mamma Mia/Mia Freedman fan but worth a listen for Caro.

Won't let me link so remove the spaces: www. mamamia .com .au / keli-lane-pregnancies/

Re: My above post.

They start specifically talking about 'Andrew' at the 46:23 mark.

Into the discussion Caro says "We've had some compelling information come in to us about a certain Andrew who used to hang around in Balmain, matches the description that Keli Lane gave, looks strikingly similar to him, was apparently some kind of drug dealer and some sort of not exactly legal lifestyle that was happening and may have been using the apartment of someone else.."

Well, well, well. Let’s see if anything comes of this.

[Haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcast yet. Thanks for the ‘link’.]

Today's Exposed discussion seems to be that the timeline for 'Andrew' to have lived/swatted/sublet unit 10 doesn't fit with Tegan's conception timeline.

It's long been noted that Sean Greaves was living there from late December 1995. He is not Andrew. Keli claims to have had sex with 'Andrew' at that location Sept - (early) Dec 1995. Tegan was born September 14th 1996 at allegedly 38weeks. o_O

Can anyone confirm if it was the pregnancy with Tegan when Keli presented to hospital multiple times requesting to be induced? Because if so this would indicate that the panic was setting in, perhaps as the wedding date approached?
yes it was

Yes, the conception date would be January 01 - January 09 1996

I

I think it was baby #3. She was refused the termination because there was a 20 week gestation limit; Keli stated she was under the limit but the clinic determined she was further along through examination.
She also presented to Ryde Hospital faking labour pain and asking to be induced several times, then Auburn and was refused 4 x from memory but finally the next day Auburn induced her 2 weeks early.

It honestly could be anything. The 'affair', Baby 1, termination, the date rape or something we know nothing about.. Love to know though.

Anyone else watch the 60mins interview with Sandra and Robert and compare it with Exposed interviews?

On Exposed Sandra & Robert said Keli told them about Tegan before the police did. Yet in the 60mins interview they're asked "What did Keli tell you about Tegan?" Robert says "Well she didn't tell us, the police told us." I know it seems small but stuck out to me considering Keli's phone tap recordings. Did a police friend of Robert's get to him before Keli had the chance to tell him?

Give or take two weeks. 38 weeks’ gestation at birth would be a rubbery figure, wouldn’t it?

  • #294
Yes, in fact she was already pregnant again when Borovnik reported Tegan missing in October 2000.

Wasn't until November 2000 that she told her boyfriend (later husband) that she was pregnant with his child and already four months along. Did Borovnik reporting Tegan as a missing person force her hand here? Was she going to keep baby 4 all along or? Mind boggles..

Good point!

Yes, although from memory they did scans at both hospitals and she was deemed to be 38 weeks, even if conception was late December Sean Greaves had tenancy of the unit at that stage.

That’s true. SG paid rent on 23/12/1995 from the ExposedABC post today (linked above).

btw as far as the accuracy of the scans go, is there a midwife (ex-midwife) in the house? :D

Oops sorry, I should have linked. My apologies.

Here is Caro's conception date announcement: Caro Meldrum-Hanna

"..Conception dates are unclear. We have police documents stating they were considering conception date as early as late/end November.
Another police document has placed conception of Tegan Lane AT MID DECEMBER. Another at 11/12/95..."

Dating scans of pregnancy done at hospitals are quite accurate and Tegan was deemed a 38 week or term baby so the conception date is extremely important.

Thanks JJJ. I wasn’t doubting your calculations—just wondering about the accuracy of prenatal scans.*
