I am seeing more and more members at the Exposed ABC group implying that the ABC is taking side (of Keli) and not being objective. I think Caro is getting more and more defensive. Once her evidence collecting draws to a close, I don't think that group will continue.

No, still not seeing it :S
I don't have facebook app on my phone, so I can't open it either. But I can on my "facebook device".

Are you really going down that rabbit hole though?;)

No, not really going down the rabbit hole but Keli’s ‘stories’ are certainly very seductive. Backing right away from entertaining them—rapidly. Unless I’m mistaken, others would be well-advised to do the same.

For anyone else unable to view the RMIT media release. I have attached it below.

The one thing I am interested to know more about is the Juan story and subsequent back flip of sorts.

Is this Duncans flatmate you're talking about?

I just learnt about this listening to no filter. Very interesting. I hope he can be found and is willing to be interviewed, but I have doubts unfortunately

New podcast episode just released this morning with Caro Meldrum-Hanna talking about the case if anyone is interested.

I'm no Mamma Mia/Mia Freedman fan but worth a listen for Caro.

Won't let me link so remove the spaces: www. mamamia .com .au / keli-lane-pregnancies/

I enjoyed listening to the podcast. TO. Thank you for posting about it. It hasn’t changed my opinion about Keli’s guilt or her psychopathology. I was actually thinking that the more I hear, the less I believe that Keli is innocent. Hers might turn out to be a wrongful conviction but even that eventuality will not change my mind about her being responsible for Tegan’s death. The only people who can convince me of her innocence are Tegan (and ‘Andrew’, ‘Mel’ and ‘Andrew’s mother’). It has nothing to do with her being a woman, being labelled as promiscuous, her sporting ambitions and/or career goals. Quite simply, to me, Keli’s ‘stories’ don’t make sense.

(If I was crotchety and cynical, I’d say ‘Youth is wasted on the young.’ in response to Caro and Mia finding Keli’s stories about Tegan and the circumstances surrounding her conception, pregnancy and birth believable. Maybe there is something to be said for age and wisdom in regard to understanding human nature. Of course, my sage opinion may blow up in my face one day.)

Absolutely. Until this 'Andrew' is found with Tegan (or DNA proof she was in his custody at some point in time) or Tegan herself is found her stories will remain just that.

What do you folks think of today's application by Innocence Initiatve for another appeal, or judicial inquiry?

Basically all the listed flaws correspond to the ones raised by Exposed. So those are supposed to be the new evidence.

I was not convinced when watching the episodes. I actually came in with little previous awareness of the case, because back in the '00s I was too busy to pay attention. So I can say I was not affected by any media frenzy back then. The only knowledge I have is some personal experience with compulsive liars. So that may have made me more cynical.

From the inquest:

"Nevertheless, she gets little sense out of Juan Ramirez, a water polo associate of Lane who rented a room at Duncan Gillies' house in suburban Gladesville. When Gaut interviewed him in the course of the investigation, Ramirez said Gillies had once told him that Lane was pregnant and had gone away. He also recalled Gillies talking of the need to keep this from her parents. But by the time Ramirez takes the stand, he isn't sure what Gillies said - in fact, he cannot be certain the conversation took place at all. The more he is questioned, the more vague he becomes. "We need to know the truth," presses Becroft. "I need you to be honest with me." But it's no good. Ramirez's memory has gone hazy. It's as if he has lost interest in the whole thing."

I'd be surprised if it's enough to warrant any sort of review. I wouldn't think it was 'compelling' enough for the courts. I found it odd that they're using information uncovered by Exposed team, haven't they been allegedly on the case for much longer than the ABC!? Also not too sure I agree with the Chamberlain comparisons.

I don't think anyone during her trial and beyond was particularly prejudiced against her, unlike Lindy Chamberlain. She was the "nice girl" after all. Very few reasonable people would think her sexual activities, pregnancies, terminations were deplorable behaviour in the 90s. A lot of aspects raised eyebrows, such as no one knowing she was pregnant etc. But "🤬🤬🤬🤬 prejudice"? Don't think that would go 11 to 1.

No I don't think it was an unfair trial. Of course prosecution would do whatever was allowed to get an advantage. The judge may disagree with the verdict. But it was about 'technicalities'. Not guilty is not equivalent to innocence, I have heard it said.

Well that does seem like II was tipping off the ABC, made it look like it was ABC's own investigation? And then when public interest is the highest after the airing, II submits the application.

If they’re relying on the grounds of ‘police/DPP corruption’ to quash a wrongful conviction, I reckon they’ve got diddly. Not sure about the relationship between the BoHII and Exposed investigations. As for the parallels with the Chamberlain and Dawson cases, there are none in my opinion. Basically, the Chamberlain case was based on flawed forensic evidence and Lynette was an adult.

Do you remember right at the beginning of Part 1 of Exposed, Caro said she received the letter from Keli in one envelope and then found another (I think?) containing a thumb drive with copies of a multitude of documents pertaining to Keli’s case? Where did the thumb drive come from? Surely not from Silverwater CC?

It came from a source close to the case. It had to have been a cop or a solicitor/lawyer.
