BB police told the family that they had investigated the phone data from Telstra (podcast#2, as from [30:00]):
- the phone was found to be "walking towards the Lighthouse"
- the phone was detected by the antenna on Paterson street
- the antenna is on top of the watertank
- the data from the antenna show that the last ping on June 1st originated in an angle of 60 degrees between the antenna, Main Beach and the Lighthouse (if I have understood things well)
- the location of the watertank is here(?):

I think it was above 15% for a period of time after the YouTube video was viewed and the messages were sent.
I think it's some time after that Power Savings kicked in. Power Savings can either be active automatically or manually. I have mine set to just give a prompt at 15% - I disabled auto Power Savings on it. It will shut of completely at 5% power.
Smart Lock keeps the phone accessible without a login required under certain circumstances.

It is hard, then, to imagine that Theo was not using his device himself. That changes my outlook a little. Will have to think on this for a while.

However, it still sounds as though he could have met someone who seemed friendly .. and that person turned nasty. Because it is terrible to think that Theo could have accidentally fallen into the ocean and that someone did nothing about that.

There are old goat tracks. Some do and have attempted the climb. It was during an attempt not long before Theo went missing that someone fell trying to undertake the climb.
I forget the name but the mother of that person started a campaign for better signage. She also raised funds for rescue equipment. IIRC, the SES stated that they have undertook rescues there in the past. No link atm.
Walking trail from the lighthouse past Wategos through to The Pass then up along the beach to Main Beach.
There's also a board walk for some distance along the road that eventually turns up to the lighthouse.
What about the hat? Would this account for TH's hat being found in the location it was?

Where was the cap found Aron? Was it in the places around the cliff as mentioned in that post, or someplace else? You tell me.

Ahh. I thought it was on the path that maps said he took, closer to the cricket field.
Oops.

I really can't recall the detail.
I'm unsure as to your dialog.
What are you suggesting?

Well, it seems that Oppo phones do have the smart lock feature. Very possible (imo) that Theo might use this feature when he was consistently using the phone after he left Cheeky Monkeys that night.
It can be a real pain in the buttinski to keep having to unlock your phone when you are using it a lot ... like if you want to keep your eye on your maps function.

Smart Lock | OPPO Australia

The only thing is .. when you set your phone down or you stop moving, it locks itself again. (A different link says it locks itself after one minute of being set down or your walking motion stops.)

This function facilitates you to keep the device unlocked while your device with you, just unlock once and your device stays unlocked as long as it's in motion, like when you are holding or carrying your device. Your device will lock when it detects that it's been set down.

Theo's cap was found in 'dense bushland' off Tallows Beach. Would Theo have been walking through dense bushland in the middle of the night?

The grey Puma hat was found in bushes near Tallows Beach in July ...
Theo Hayez’s family claim hat belongs to missing backpacker

The family of Theo Hayez have confirmed that a cap found in dense bushland belongs to him.

In July, a Puma branded baseball cap was found close to where the last "ping" from the backpacker's mobile phone was recorded.

Ok, how about all the newcomers read the posts from the beginning. Pretty much everything has been raked over and dissected multiple times. We know the route, the times, where the cap was found, the phone usage as reported. That’s it. Where we’re currently at is waiting for podcast 4 which will shed more detail and light on the nuances of Theo’s route to CC.
Source your info with links or it’ll be dismissed as hearsay.
The ice, bouncer, cheeky monkeys drug den malarkey is repetitive, tedious and not evidenced so spare us the far flung drama. It’s just story telling and has no value.

We got shut down not long ago, for quite awhile for breaching the rules, and tonight got a little loco which could jeopardise it again.

Ok then. I got that confused. lol

The hat was found in bush land near Tallows Beach on the exact route Theo's phone took. There was no track where the hat was found and volunteers have searched the area previously. I believe the previous search was described as "shoulder to shoulder" and search volunteers seemed quite surprised this hat has been missed during the previous search. It was found on a Sunday 7th of July during another search and was the day after the indigenous ceremony held on the beach as sourced from the podcast "Ransom".

So that's the route he took over to Tallow Beach?
Asking since when that map that wasn't supposed to be released was posted here I think I recall a location given elsewhere.

The boy that fell down the cliff, did not fall from that path. He fell near the sea where the waves clash against the rocks. He was in a different spot.

Correct, corresponded exactly with the route he/his phone took.
I would like to know the exact spot. Surely they must have the gps location where the cap was found?

I didn't state any specific path. I said 'goat tracks'.
