I was flicking through court lists, and Olsen’s name is on the list today at Maryborough court. Wonder if the media will report on it…..

Maryborough Court hearts adult arrest/remand cases at 9am on Mondays and Tuesdays except the dates listed below. If she was re-remanded and doesn't currently have a trial date then she will likely pop up again at some point, for another hearing.

Thanks Melt. Is rather amazing there was so much media hype about this case in the beginning, but now we hear absolutely nothing. We have to keep looking in the court lists to see what is happening, which is annoying because Queensland only show cases that are listed on the day, unlike NSW where you can see dates of cases up to three weeks prior.

I don't think I've heard of a reason yet.
Unless I missed something.

My guess is her defence will go for something like she was not in her right mind.

Annoyingly…. Just happened to look at Maryborough Court List…. And the alleged murderer was in court yet again…. With no media coverage. Again.

Absolutely spot on Tootsie!

I managed to just read the paywalled article I posted here back in late March, 2025. Looks like the matter is heading for the Mental Health Court! Of course!

Ms Olsen’s lawyer Bradford Hill appeared via telephone at Maryborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 25, to ask for an adjournment of one month to transfer proceedings to the mental health court.

Magistrate John Milburn adjourned the matter to April 29 for a further mention.”

Thanks for that Marg!

I didn't know there was a court called the Mental Health Court.

I’ve never heard of the Mental Health Court, but I’ve just looked it up, and it is a branch of the court in Queensland.

About the Mental Health Court

“The Mental Health Court decides the state of mind of people charged with criminal offences.

A criminal case can be referred to the Mental Health Court if it’s believed that the alleged offender is or was mentally ill, or has an intellectual disability.

The court decides whether an alleged offender was of unsound mind when they committed the offence and whether they are fit for trial.

The court also hears appeals from the Mental Health Review Tribunal and inquiries into the lawfulness of a patient’s detention in authorised mental health facilities.

How the court is constituted

The court is constituted by judges of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

The court is advised by two assisting psychiatrists drawn from the following panel:

  • Dr. E McVie
  • Dr. S Harden
  • Dr. E Timmins
  • Dr. F Iqbal
  • Dr. J Phillips
  • Dr. H Till
Additionally, assisting psychiatrists advise the court on the meaning and significance of clinical evidence and issues relating to the treatment and detention needs of people under the Mental Health Act 2016.“

I’ve worked with consumers sectioned under the mental health act before when I was on a practicim at university, and it’s eye-opening. There are forensic wings in some of the major hospitals in Brisbane, and there are also forensic patients that are serving their sentence in regular locked mental health wards that are attached to major hospitals.

When you work there, you we provided with information about who the forensics patients are and what crime they committed.
