I forgot, yes. So he wouldn't have been answering her phone. Surely you'd check with a girl's mother before reporting her missing to police.
I had the feeling that he may have let her biological father know first, maybe he called him to check whether he had seen her, JMO of course.

I think your probably right, they seem to be friendly.

Been catching up on all of your thoughts this afternoon. Through both threads people keep coming back to:
a) Indie being tied up
b) movements after the markets in particular who knew Toyah was meant to be going to Wangetti and was she alone when she arrived?
c) M's dog going missing
d) status of M and Toyah's relationship
e) living arrangements

Just a few thoughts.. If that photo of the boyfriend at the pub was indeed taken after they found her body, that would be incredibly strange. You would be in fits of tears for weeks I would’ve thought, not hanging out with the boys.. losing the dog on the same day as your girlfriend going missing, and the timing of posts etc., is also incredibly odd, as is the staged photo showing him holding the dog in the bush after the body was found. The sexual element of the murder may normally exclude a current partner, but I imagine that may change if they were in the process of splitting up, or split up already but still seeing each other in some way. It would also make the cop’s job harder if trying to use DNA from the scene to lock that person down (of course my DNA was on her, we were still seeing each other occasionally...) Trying to bury points to either shame (because the person knew them), or to buy some time (particularly if it was a stranger). So many questions..

the picture is the week before.
according to the post tgu posted .
if you read the paragraph under the pic it says the pic is from the previous week. the article was only written a couple of days after toyahs murder.

I mean there is nothing wrong with mates taking guys to the pub when they are stressed ...its a normal guy thing to do but that picture doesn't look bereaved and that's why.

Behind the bus, going in the opposite direction is a black Holden ute. I am curious about that, based on other information. However I am just being curious. Given how violent the death was, it just seems passionate, anger, rage and personal.

Sorry if it’s already been outlined elsewhere, but are their any actual details of her injuries ect? Or were just going by the polices inital reports regarding how her poor father located her?

No details of injuries or cause of death have been released.

I noticed that in the appeal for drivers of those cars to come forward, they referred to it as the 'suspicious' death of Toyah. I can't remember if that's how it was first referred to?

Also noticed that Toyahs partner is not a member of the Honour Toyah Group that her parents (all 3) are a part of.
Toyahs Mum also comments on a post talking about finding the person responsible, saying 'The police haven't stopped, they inform us and visit our home. We just have to let them do their job' in reply to a comment about whether the police have a suspect yet.

Just things that I have noticed, I haven't posted since the first thread because I can't make sense of it but I am hopeful the police have A LOT more than they have released.

This is my second post, I only joined websleuths yesterday & am intrigued in all I’ve read. It’s so interesting what we can all take from the facts & how it’s then perceived by the individual. So many things too think about. I don’t have much depth too add, but a few things have crossed my mind. Basically where Toyah was is considered a secluded spot, not many visitors/passers by. But on the other hand, it’s stated numerous families had been there earlier in the afternoon? Correct me if I’m wrong sorry? Anyhow, my point is, although at the beginning I was inclined too thinking this was opportunistic, you’d have too be drug crazed too commit such a crime in broad daylight. We’re not talking about a bag snatch, this is a sexual assault & murder. Crimes that would clearly take more than 30 seconds. Or if it was opportunistic, IMO it had too be more than 1 person. If you were unfamiliar with the area, someone would have too be looking out for you. You couldn’t guarantee not being seen or being able too hide quickly enough. That’s where I then feel surely someone had too be confident enough too be familiar with the spot, be prepared/certain they had time or something too make no screams or noise heard. I know in sexual assaults victims can be suddenly set upon walking along the street; and when we normally see the victim/perp his physically much bigger than his victim. Or in cases like Jill M & Adrian B, although he was small, he had committed so many sexual violent crimes, he knew how too overpower a woman. The police obviously would be looking at anyone within a certain km radius with a history of sexual assaults, I wonder if theirs been any news stories of anyone in recent years fitting that description? Sorry if my post hasn’t flown (I’m a SAHM & trying too educate myself/get the brain working in the adult word lol) these are just some of my thoughts

Welcome chloeselina and what a thought provoking post.
I had to Google SAHM and yes it was an aaaah haaa moment for me too.
While reading your post Jill Meagher came to my mind before you mentioned her horrific murder and it could be possible that, like Jill, Toyah was simply walking along when a seemingly harmless person asked to walk along with her until she was in a more secluded spot to attack her.
There have been reports of a man masturbating quite publicly so I wonder if this wierdo decided to step across the line.

I imagine the most likely answer would be yes, it is someone she knows or someone local. There's too much coincidence for it to be a tourist or someone that doesn't know the area. Think about what we know (or think we know)
1) The beach is often quiet, especially that end of Wangetti. I'm not local and I would not have known that if I hadn't read it since Toyah was found.
2) Toyah went there often, this was known to her family and would have been known by people close to her. (Who else could know? Possibly other dog walkers, people living on the beach for extended periods of time, could Toyah have suggested it as a walking spot to a former client at the shelter she worked at before the pharmacy? I feel we can rule Wangetti residents out as it was reported that they volunteered DNA samples at the very beginning)
3) The attack was 'frenzied'and she was left with 'violent and visible injuries' we know this usually means its personal, at least for the perp.
4) Police have asked for anyone that witnessed suspicious activity at Lake Placid on the 21st to come forward. They have done searches and said that 'items of interest' were found but they could not comment further. How well known is Lake Placid? I live in QLD and had never heard of it until last month. Is it a tourist attraction? Or is it somewhere that locals frequent more?

Things that point to it not being a local
1) No quick arrest and no confessions, the whole community is behind Toyahs family and the fight for justice so surely by now if it had been a local the police would have more to go on?
2) Police appealing for anyone that has felt uncomfortable because of another persons behaviour at a beach to come forward, quite a large area as well.

Things that point to the police having a suspect
1) No outright warnings that there is a killer out there, no constant patrols and no real sort of 'stay away from beaches'kind of thing. That could also be on the renewed focus to target the offenders behaviours rather than victim blaming but I would still expect more being said about the danger of walking alone.
2) The narrow time frame of the appeal for drivers. Could they have the details of Toyahs phones last pings?

Feel free to add more or let me know if you have a different perspective. My heart hurts for her family.

Welcome back KBK :)

I am leaning toward a meet up that has gone horribly wrong. I do not think the murder was planned, I believe Toyah said no, or disagreed with the person about something. perhaps she had information about the person cheating on their fiance/partner, perhaps the individual tried it with Toyah she said no. This may have involved another person who didn't partake in the murder itself, but was with the individual who may have lost their cool, in the process held onto or tied the dog, waited in the car area until they could leave. Perhaps they feel obligated to keep quiet...

I believe it is someone she knew. However I cannot rule out a random perp all together.

I guess there no reason to think this only happens in suburbia.

Sean Price stabbed teenage schoolgirl Masa Vukotic 49 times in a frenzied attack, with the blows that killed her aimed at her neck.
.....the brutal result when these two people from two different worlds met on a footpath in the Koonung Creek Linear Park.

Was that man never diagnosed with schizophrenia? Almost all of the diagnosed schizophrenics that I have known have that travelling aimlessly around on public transport.

I don't think it was a stranger who simply asked to walk with her. Where she was found is not the best of the beach to be walking on. The masturbator was photographed from Rex Lookout which only looks down on the nice sandy beach further north of where she was found. Same beach the hang gliders land. There is a bend in the beach so Toyah would have been on the southern end of this where the beach is often stony. She was found up in the sand dunes. This is close to Ellis Beach. I don't believe this was a stranger. Might be someone who had many times walked another dog with her in the same spot. Even a domestic homicide can also be rape. Especially if someone was very very angry at her. Tie the dog up so it won't follow, then run back to Ellis Beach or somewhere else. Or someone else known to her. Sexual abuse and homicide can easily be someone close to her.

Wonder if she had any ‘unhappy about it’ ex bfs? That could be another possibility? Wanted to get back together/jealous etc... or a stalkery type who wanted a ‘relationship’ with her.

I don't believe it was a stranger either. If this person is caught, I think that we are going to see a nasty story here.
