Australia - Toyah Cordingley, 24, body found on beach, 22 October 2018 #3

  • #201
I will have to go back and read the sources again, but I believe it was reported that he had started to take extended, 2-3 day breaks from his home at remote beach locations and in the recent past his family had filed a MP report...initially it was not reported that it was the same weekend as Toyah’s disappearence, but a week earlier.
But this, for example:

Mr Singh’s family had not heard from him for a number of days when Ms Cordingley was murdered on October 21.

It is understood he flew back to India the day Ms Cordingley was murdered and three days after his own family had reported him missing.

just bringing this forward from my post on page 4, edited from the australian article, it shows he ate breakfast with his children so assume he spent the previous night there after driving back from cairns, so family should have noticed any uncovered injuries?........
The morning after Toyahs murder started just like any other in the home of Indian nurse Rajwinder Singh.

He ate breakfast with his children, ran errands for about half an hour and drove his father to the Sikh temple in the far north Queensland

Then he packed a bag and disappeared, leading to a desperate international search by his family and police. “I’m going, I’ll be back tomorrow lunchtime,” Mr Singh told his wife before leaving, his brother-in-law Harpreet Singh said

its a long shot but could the potential forensic evidence linking him to that beach be from him blowing his nose etc, leaving behind used tissues? cigarette butts?
also indian law authorities arent currently involved?
although the video is dated 10th dec so may have changed now

so if his family hadnt heard from him for a number of days beforehand, was that time away spent hanging around and sleeping rough at wangetti beach,
that night did he just arrive casually home afterwards dirty and scratched, like nothing had happened, had he taken a change of clothes?a weapon?
wouldnt his wife or father want to know where hed been especially as theyd filed a missing person report, its just hard to fathom that scenario of him walking in the door as if nothing happened?

I have to say, I am questioning why his father returned to India. I don't feel convinced that it was to find Singh and persuade him to return.

That may be the family's public stance ... but I am not convinced.
Maybe the police encouraged him?
I wonder if the Lake Placid suspicious activity came about before the 4 week search warrant too? They probably had various reasons for the search warrant..?
Around 10th November: Singh's home searched, colleagues at Innisfail Hospital interviewed.
Around 19th November: Lake Placid & Moody Creek searched by police divers.
Around 3rd December: The father Amar Singh, flies to India to find his son.

that night did he just arrive casually home afterwards dirty and scratched, like nothing had happened, had he taken a change of clothes?a weapon?

Maybe no one knew what he was up to, especially if he wasn’t communicating well. He could’ve been hanging around Rusty’s or Wangetti. He could’ve been sleeping rough at Lake Placid too.

“Raj Singh’s behaviour in the lead-up to the murder included disappearing for days on end.
He’d be back at night, leaving in the morning again, Harpreet Singh said. Raj Singh was home by about 8.30pm on the night of the murder, Harpreet Singh said. He liked to hang around beaches to unwind. Reports he had visible injuries were incorrect, his family said. As far as the family is aware, he did not know Cordingley.”

And yet . . . the morning started like any other; he had breakfast with his children etc etc. These things can't all be right.

Did he really book the plane the night before, planning to disappear indefinitely, and yet only packed a bag after conferring with, or at least driving with, his father the next morning? Fast packing.

And how did he get to the airport?? Dad?

Can’t find RS, so send the father over and track him?

Maybe dad didn't like the heat so he got out of the kitchen.
He had been left with daughter in law and the children, not necessarily his responsibility. And possibly bills for the house, etc.
The police were causing tensions and angst.
There may be a degree of shame for what his son may have done.

Pretty sure it's him, given the DNA, phone triangulation, vehicle sightings, ticket to India etc.
However, there could be an alternate scenario: Raj obviously had problems long before Toyah's murder. He wasn't actually acting out of character historically - disappearing for days on end, unwinding at beaches on his own, not communicating with family. Just suppose he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and his DNA was found somewhere at that beach but it had nothing to do with what happened to Toyah. Reasonable to assume that given the media coverage and incriminating evidence, he would panic and take off to India. Did he purchase a one way ticket?
Still think it's him, just wanting to present an alternate theory...

Anything’s possible. He could’ve been sleeping rough on Wangetti and left without his clothes or possessions (hence police asking us to look out for anyone missing significant pieces of clothing).
If he had any valuable info as a witness , or even just due to being in the vicinity of the beach on the day, the police would very much want & need to speak with him. They seemed to have enough concern about him to search his home, so they would be after him. The question is how are they hunting him down? If he’s gone into hiding and his Dad genuinely can’t find him, what’s next? Will the wife & kids head back to India soon too? Would they stay here without him? The kids were probably born here, so maybe they would. ‍

I'm doubtful about the DNA at this stage. For one thing, "forensic evidence" could mean lots of things. But mainly, I note the use of the word "potential". If what they have is only "potential" forensic evidence linking him to Wangetti . . . to me that means they don't have forensic evidence to make the link, yet. Or didn't, when the information was leaked.

If RS disappeared the day after the crime, which was the day Toyah was found, that seems much too soon for it to be because of media coverage and innocent panicking because he was on the spot.

This has the look of a murderer on the run with the destination carefully chosen. I hope our good guys aren't up the well known creek without too many paddles.

If hypothetically RS did the deed but didn’t set out to kill her, he would’ve been in a massive freaking out panic afterwards. It’s not even a big window of time from when she was on the beach to when the police were looking at cars driving south through Clifton is it? Erratic driving, dumping evidence, going home that night after being AWOL for days, and booking the first flight out of there fits the actions of someone stressed out and in survival mode. Nothing else would’ve mattered except to drop everything and flea.

Same, same. I hope he's caught. I've read some interesting border stuff. You can get into Pakistan by various means, but tricky (if you don't know someone). Still, India may be good enough to hide in? I think there's little possibility it's wasn't him, but could be so wrong of course. It's just looking a bit predictable...

Makes me wonder whether he took a dip at Wangetti or lake Placid? I imagine he'd have plenty of clothes in his car. Wonder if she bit or scratched his face (i freaken hope so!). Hope he had wounds hard to hide. In that case, he could have told his family any old story..? But since they say he had none, maybe they were on his arms and chest. Wonder who saw these injuries? Could it be a passing motorist..?

Just realized (duh) that he could have made it through to Pakistan with his own passport, given that he would be there within a few days of Toyah's murder. I'm not sure why i thought he may have to sleuth across

The most common crossing is not far from his hometown.

"Attari at Wagah, Punjab, India, is the most famous and prominent border crossing point between India and Pakistan due to Wagah-Attari border ceremony. The crossing is located 32 kilometres from Amritsar and 24 kilometres from Lahore."

India–Pakistan border - Wikipedia

IIRC there is some arrangement via UK to get him back if he's in Pakistan - but i imagine it could be more difficult :(

MOO, of course it's him and of course the father knows. I think the father is hiding him. The family pretend they don't think he is guilty but how do they explain his sudden fleeing, leaving behind small children? Of course they know he is guilty, they just want to save face. I don't think we're going to see any further progress for a long time, if at all now.
