Australia - Toyah Cordingley, 24, body found on beach, 22 October 2018 #3

A record $1 million reward was offered by Queensland Police in late 2022 for information leading to the location and arrest of runaway suspect Singh.

Queensland Police later confirmed the $1 million reward had been paid to a number of people.

"We appreciate the significant public interest in this matter however, information provided on the process is limited as it is obtained on a confidential basis.

"As such we will not reveal specifics of the reward only to advise it has been paid in full to a number of claimants."
It was interesting at the time that the reward was only for finding Singh, not successful conviction as is usual. I believe the money was paid out several years ago. Money talks!

7 years since Toyah was murdered.
This case sure has shown the dogged determination of the police, prosecutors, Qld govt (reward), and Toyah's loved ones.

Respect to the police for not giving up.

And thoughts for Toyah's dad who found her and has never returned to the place she was found. Nor has he ever been to the beautiful roadside memorial. His grief has been beyond thinkable. Thanks also to all his mates who encompassed him.

There was only ever one correct verdict: guilty as Singh.

Vanessa’s gracious words remind us there’s always multiple victims - Marco lost his partner, Troy and Vanessa lost their beloved girl, and Singh’s wife Sukhdeep and their little kids are forever shaped by his selfish, cowardly actions. It’s all just so heartbreaking and senseless. How dare he.

As Troy said best: “Rot in hell, you bastard.”

Poor Indie had to live with the memory of witnessing the whole thing too.

Was hoping deportation might be on the cards, but turns out not. Will Singh end up in Lotus Glen do you think?

Has anybody heard that there was nearly a mistrial on day 12 of the trial? I can't find it now. Might have been rubbish news.

It's most likely this.
On day 12 of the second trial a juror was dismissed due to police bias claims
It does say that it nearly ended in a retrial

May be behind a paywall. Posting it here for those who subscribe.
