surely whoever killed her mustnt be an animal lover to have tied the dog up in such a cruel way,
the dog seems to be key witness, with police focusing on it early on and testing it for dna etc
if only it could talk!

I am as confused as you all are re boyfriend/ex-boyfriend. I am assuming that boyfriend at funeral was current, but an not 100% sure. Before today I was not aware of an ex and a recent boyfriend. But my local resource is adamant and her son has had contact with Toyah - like most kids about that age. Cairns, or the northern beaches areas is not really that big. Kids that age know or know of all kids in the area.
Interestingly that msm/police have not mentioned an ex-boyfriend.

I think I am a bit perplexed as it was reported that Toyah and the BF, which to me is the one in the photograph at the funeral with the dog, had been together for over 3 years. perhaps they separated recently.

Great to see you again BreakingNews.
It’s excellent to have local ears to the ground.

I’m confused of which BF was at Toyah’s funeral with the dog.
Great to see you too, TGY. I used to live north of Cairns, but now am further south.

The guy at the funeral with the dog isn't the 'new one' (if there is a new one?). A quick search through her Facebook showed pictures of them from Sep 2016.

I think the confusion with whose dog it is might partly be due to the fact that it was the bf's before they got together but then it started living with Toyah. Maybe his living arrangements changed and he wasn't able to keep it at his residence but it was still technically his dog? Toyah clearly loved that dog.

I keep thinking...did she work at the markets she was at? Often young, attractive girls, whose work involves interacting with the public, get admirers that genuinely believe there is a close relationship with themself and the person serving them. I've had it happen to me numerous times, it is frightening. They think there is interest there, when really, it is our job to be nice.

Such a sad thing to happen. She had her whole life ahead of her. I really thought (hoped?) that there would be an arrest by now.

I walk my dog twice a day. Because of the world we live in I'm always on alert for anyone my gut instinct is telling me to be wary off.
I tend to go to some isolated areas too. I have had a couple of scares over the years.

I just hope the police find the poor excuse for a human being that finished Toyah's life.
I might add I would like to see much tougher sentences in Australia for these predators.
Totally agree. Australia sentences are an embarrassment. Just just need to see those Border Security shows to see how little Australia penalises people. It is a joke and embarrasses me as an Australian.

agree, people also often mistake kindness for flirting and gentleness for weakness, and then if the pretty person shows they arent interested they get accused of "leading them on"just for being kind

There might not have been people around at the time...to hear the dog?
I agree. But knowing that area, there are a few basic houses in the area. eg huts really, you know the places with dirt floors. I have known people who have lived there. I can not believe that the dog would not have made any noise at all. Someone, somewhere surely would have heard it. I know my dog would have howled and howled even if he was tied up tight and especially if he could have seen me hurt or dead.

if her killer was someone who knew her they may have stayed overnight with her body and only tied the dog up quickly as they left so it didnt follow,
pretty risky but possible, and to a passerby she could have been sleeping, and could account for the dog not barking?

That was a telling post BreakingNews. There are a couple of bits of information that raise red flags for me.
The reasons should be obvious to everyone.
Never underestimate a red flag.

It was reported in msm that Toyah was a pharmacy assistant. You would not work at the markets and leave a little while later with a bag of shopping if you worked there. Rusty's markets opens around 6am and finishes aften 5 some days or after around 3 some weekends.

I understand from local source that Toyah had broken up with boyfriend only 3 weeks before her death. She then hooked up with someone else. Red flag to ex IMOO.

Yes, wasn't sure if I'd remembered reading if she worked there or not but it appears she did work at a shop...unsure if same place that she was at the next morning?

Toyah Cordingley murder: Last photos of her alive emerge

The pictures show Ms Cordingley handing out samples of camel dairy milk to customers at Barr St Markets, a wholefood store and pharmacy in Cairns, the day before her death.

Very interesting.... makes the theories I had about the dog hold more weight.

Her old boyfriend is tall & lanky, dark hair. I saw one of him in the msm shots at the funeral, with her/their dog...

Is it known whether new boyfriend was at funeral?

Not that I know of. The news have reported the tall thin man as the BF (Friends rally around boyfriend of Toyah Cordingley, 24, murdered on Wangetti Beach | Daily Mail Online), if this is the case and she did break up with him three weeks earlier it gives me hope of at least people to investigate. IMO the beach was such a random location that the chances of it being a stranger seem very unlikely to me, someone knew her movements and knew she was going to be there. Given the news reports have described her death as very violent in nature (Dad found daughter’s dead body), that seems likes an angry/frenzied attack, IMO emotions were involved for the person to do that, indicating to me that it was not a stranger.
