Have you got a link please? I wasn’t aware of these specifics.

My last post before the one you quoted has a photo of where the body was being recovered, which appears to be a small sandy gully in the bush along the treeline. Here is another version with the search team just visible in the shrub to the left of the blue tent

Stories of perverts on beach where Toyah Cordingley was murdered

If you mean that it is potentially sexually motivated (note that anything in parenthesis is me extrapolating why they'd think that, not a quote)

Police confirmed Ms Cordingley’s dog was found on the beach and said her death could have been a sexually related murder.

Toyah Cordingley: Queensland mayor’s plea over 'disgusting, horrific' beach murder
A north Queensland mayor says the murder of Toyah Cordingley on an isolated beach is a disgusting, horrific act of violence that has shaken the local community...On Tuesday, police said they could not overlook the possibility the attack was sexually motivated.

Tacked on to the end of this one:
The Cairns community will come together on Friday for the annual Reclaim the Night walk to raise awareness about sexual violence against women.

This article also says divers searched in the water. I wonder if they have searched landfills? Where does the trash go or are there no public bins in the carpark?

LE seems reasonably sure it was sexually motivated (found unclothed or there was obvious signs of rape). They also got that DNA from somewhere, it is doubtful a hit and run would have dragged her into the treeline.
Which brings me to noodling over why this perp didn't put her in the sea? Its like he wanted her to be found.

Maybe he was disturbed by people. Or maybe he dragged her there to assault her (sorry) for more privacy. He might not realise water is good (if he lives under a rock, which he might well do, or might not care). Did we find out where the DNA came from? Her or the collar? I' hope they catch the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 very soon...

if she was assausted higher up in the dunes/trees it would be much easier to leave her there rather than risk being seen dragging her into the sea, especially as it probably all happened in daylight?

So true BB, imagine carrying her down to the ocean & clumsily swimming out for even a km? Seems safer to leave her in the secluded dunes & act like nothing happened. Like the Wanda beach murders... :(

police were also unsure if toyah had been home and changed after the cctv footage showed her walking through a carpark, so possibly her clothes werent with her?

I wonder if she went to smithfield, after the markets, to pick up the dog? She could have got changed there (i am assuming perhaps someone in her family lives in smithfield like her dad/stepdad). If she was intending to walk the dog, it's possible she wanted a change of clothes? & some swimmers? Smithfiled is where they want dashcam footage from - smithfield to Port D. The clothes are a bit of a mystery.... at least to us. As a who dunnit, I'm not discounting her BF - but he looks to be sensitive - vegan & animal lover. Doesn't mean he didn't do it of course - but i'm starting to doubt it. Unless UTI

Police could get a hit on a relative through one of the genealogical DNA services (a la the US’ Golden State Killer).
This is such a wonderful new technology. Tempted to get mine done just in case I have any criminals in the family! Seriously lol. I know I'm clean. Here's a nice succinct article about it. It appears it doesn't matter who you purchase your DNA through, but after that it's your choice to upload it to a central database for comparison. Sorry if that's so obvious. To think the golden state killer was a cop - so appalling. Hopefully he's copping it in prison!

This article (Residents undergo DNA testing as hunt for Toyah Cordingley's killer continues), which was included in the above link stated they are looking for her phone and purse. This was something I wondered a little while back, re: imessages on the phone, (a) perhaps they are known to Toyah and had messaged her, imessages will only be shown on phone records as 'data'. Or (b) with the removal of items, it de-identified her which, in the criminals mind, may have given him a little more time to hide/get away/discard evidence if the police were having trouble identifying who she was...however given the personalised number plates in the carpark this theory does not make much sense to me (unless it was opportunistic/creeper in the bush and they did not know that would have been her car).

I just wonder why they/him would take her purse and phone...(c) momento? However too much identification involved surely. It is not as if it is a piece of jewellery.

(d) removed the phone from her as she attempted to call for help? in doing that his prints were on it so it was taken to avoid any potential DNA?

My mind goes around in circles with this, the weirdest part being I wonder if they/he has read this thread?

He may read this thread who know's? But if he took both her phone & purse it may be that she is like me - as in I put everything in a small shoulder string bag to walk my dog. Phone & purse, is in there - as I don't want these stolen from my car. Small enough for a derelict to take, & perhaps he switched her phone off? A stealing, violent, predating, sex offender - perhaps? makes me feel a bit sick really!...

I just can't see anyone doing a kilometre (800m) beach walk carrying all those things.
In this pic she has no shoes, just hat and sunnies.

Toyah is carrying a stick and that's all here....usually people take a stick either
1) other dogs
2) throwing it for their dog
3) 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 maggies- Um nah.

I know when I used to take my big dogs for a walk on the beach, I never used to take my phone and purse, I always used to hide them in the car - I guess we can only assume the car has been thoroughly checked for those items...

Also, I wonder whether if you were to ring the phone, would it show in mobile tower records where it is? Eg whether it was still in same vicinity or if it ‘was’ taken, would calling it show a new tower?

When I walk my dog, all I take is my phone in a case that fits whatever you need - credit cards/license/cash etc. Phone in one pocket and keys in the other.

No need to carry much at all.

When I go I have my phone in the pocket of my exercise shorts/pants (plug for lululemon here :p) or sports bra with a phone holder built in, as I like to listen to music or a podcast (low volume of course) credit cards in the pocket of my exercise pants/shorts/bra same with my keys and my safety cat (see image).

So I do take my phone incase of emergency, I started doing this after I was set upon at the beach when I was walking, thankfully I was able to get to my car but as I unlocked it, he tried to jump in it.. so I locked it got chased around the car I jumped back in and locked it, he jumped on the bonnet of my car and I reversed and called the police. It was petrifying, I think this is why I am so impacted by what has happened to Toyah. It was stormy day, no-one was around and it was a horrible feeling to think it is only me who could get myself out of the situation and who knows what else could have happened!

I agree and if Wangetti is in a no service area then why take a phone especially near water and I’m sure she’d have an option to use the non auto car key. (Which I believe doesn’t immobilise/alarm).

She walked close 1 kilometre up the beach where she was found so she planned at least a 2 kilometre walk, say min 20 minutes?

I’m sure it would be a daunting task but can LE do checks to see if other phones stopped and pinged around that area?
Toyah’s phone wouldn’t be of any help if it was in the car all along.
