Thanks for your exceptional posts Storm Warning.

With regards to the print media there is an old saying I like; 'If you believe everything you read you may as well eat everything you see.'
I have no idea what the police are holding back but a fair bit of it will be information only the perpetrator would know.

Hi there Myserty, I have never heard that saying, it is a good one. I agree there is info only the killer knows.
I strongly believe the police suspect who the killer is and just need to prove it. There can be no other explanation for the lack of warnings or advice being issued to the general public.

The rumour in regard to the state of Toyah's body fits a facebook page linked to earlier in this thread involving a weapon. However, that particular photo may have started the rumour around town. Everything I write is simply my own opinion based on the things I have read in relation to this case.

Some people carry large sticks like this to protect from other dogs, yes?

Calling on breaking news’s expertise please?
Would there be any dingos up around there? (Not that it really matters)
I have never seen a dingo on the beaches or close to the coast -

ABC Far North on facebook has published a photo of the free bumper stickers.

Edit: fix typo

I've seen and read about dingos attacking people on beaches before but was wondering if they were known around that area as well.
I guess it was an irrelevant question anyway but thankyou.

I just can't see anyone doing a kilometre (800m) beach walk carrying all those things.
In this pic she has no shoes, just hat and sunnies.

Toyah is carrying a stick and that's all here....usually people take a stick either
1) other dogs
2) throwing it for their dog
3) 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 maggies- Um nah.

Yep true :) but i can imagine it - a phone & purse. not too much to fit into one of those bali style bags smaller than an ipad. maybe she puts them down on her towel? I do it all the time. Does she carry cigs? I have no idea, but her ex is a smoker.

If her phone is missing, it's a big chance she took it from the car. I know reception was in a black spot, but i'm not sure if her phone is missing...?

‘We need answers’: Police appeal for help

Since her brutal murder, locals have said the beach’s remote location made it almost impossible to receive phone reception as detectives work to establish if Ms Cordingley had tried to call triple-0 before her death.

Even if Toyah had her phone, and was in fear of her life, there is no signal, and she would not have been able to make an emergency call for help,”

Long time sluether, first time poster.
From what I've put together, Toyah and her boyfriend lived together, that would surely mean he raised the alarm that she was not home yet? Perhaps he called both her mother and father and when they realised she was missing, they went to search for her? Why he wasn't searching as well makes me curious.
IIRC her Mum found the dog a couple of hours before she was found - maybe she couldn't see well in the dark so went to get Toyahs Dad and they returned to look together more thoroughly and that is when she was found?
IMHO someone close to her is responsible - that is why there have been no warnings and I think police may have an idea who - which would explain why there have been no further information released.
Hoping her family and loved ones get answers soon.

Just wondering out loud ...if it is more likely that someone who knew her. Reasons
1. Women usually killed by someone they know
2. if her body had visible violent injuries-maybe done in a rage ( rather than drug addled odd bod who happens to be on the beach at the same time ?)
3. Was there a reason for her parents to be concerned had something happened previously- both( although separated) go search for her at the beach - they know where she went and are concerned -? - where was stepdad at this time ?
4.why police want dash cam ? Is it because someone else was in the car with her ?
5. Who tied the dog up and why ?

Any thoughts people on these questions ?

Very interesting article, iailwa. Ancestry DNA testing has solved a few cold cases. My understanding in Australia is that police can access any of these data bases without permission. However I can't find a link about this, so AIMHO.

Here's a link
Beware! Cops can use DNA data to pick bad apples from your family tree

BBM above. Seems police can't access willy nilly...?

Ancestry.com's terms and conditions state that the data is available to law enforcement agencies if there in an “exigent emergency that involves the danger of death or serious physical injury to a person that Ancestry may have information necessary to prevent”.

Other popular sites such as My Heritage DNA, 23andMe and comparison site GEDMatch say customer DNA files will only be shared with law enforcement via subpoena or court-ordered request.

I totally agree with your opinion that it was someone close, I even think her parents suspect who.

According to this article the time between the dog and Toyah being found was not long at all

Mum found murdered daughter's dog on beach moments before body was discovered

No, the step dad was supposedly in Papua New Guinea at the time.
Ok thanks - so still thinking it someone who knows her - someone posting a while ago about her having split with boyfriend and having new boyfriend - ?? Is this correct ??
Either one could be a suspect - meeting at the beach to discuss r/ship - he gets angry & violent ??

Thanks for your input SW. It's great to have a local's perspective. Interesting to think again that she may know her killer... I was on the bench with a random, which could still be true...? Confusing. Where was the step dad when everyone was searching? Not that i suspect him, but that would be such a can of worms... We heard rumours she had a new BF? Was that media speak - thanks for your tips regarding media too. Eeekkk this whole thing is just very wrong & very very sad... :(

just read the step dad was in PNG :)

hopefully police are using a criminal profiler or police psychologist who can determine likely suspects due to the state of her body injuries, what was done to it post or pre death etc, whether it was likely to be personal, how it was staged to be found etc, and even who/ why the dog was tied up and the autopsy would determine if any injuries occured after death too
im sure police have gathered a lot of info, and if they have dash cam footage will know if she went there alone or not

I also believe it was someone that Toyah knew, and was probably close to.

I think the Police know who and are just waiting on forensics, which could take 6 weeks or more.

Hi iailwa, seriously there is practically radio silence on this from the police media department. If there was an unknown, random killer on the loose I would think they would have the decency to issue public warnings.
The only media reports coming out now are the efforts from her family's friends - they have had a beach combing activity, a healing type gathering, tattoos and now bumper stickers. None of these reports have come from police.

I also note they have given up looking for mystery "family on the beach" who supposedly interacted with a couple with a sausage dog in the southern carpark.

I'm hoping breaking news will post again with some more info on whether Toyah had a new boyfriend.

Yes I agree. That's why there is silence now and we should see an arrest when the forensics are finished. I certainly hope so.

I wonder if there is still an active police presence in the Wangetti beach area or have they moved on from there.

The beach was only closed for a week by police.
Qld beach reopens after woman's killing

When the community beach-combed Wangetti a few weekends ago looking for clues, the police were there, most likely in case someone found something, and to observe the people.
They would not have taken the community effort too seriously IMHO because 1) the SES and forensics had already searched the area and
2) the risk of a found object being contaminated.

I really think the police are just humouring the community for now.
