The family of the deceased are in a very dark place with nowhere to turn. All doors have been slammed in their faces.

I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments, Mys.

As for karma, it will bite him on the bum one day. When he least expects it; he should expect it.

My heart breaks for the deceased's family. May their path to healing and return to love and life pass gently. I know it will be of small comfort to them now but they have the support of every right-minded person who knows the truth. A legal ruling does not grant any moral victory to the defendant.

Yes it is and as i have stated upthread it will be Warriena's loved ones that do the life sentence. That happened the day she died, and i know after the death of my 23 yr. old son killed by a drunk driver, who got a slap on the wrist for his troubles, that the fact those a**hats get away with it, that it really doesn't change a thing for the bereaved. They will never see their beloved child again in this life. So my heart is with Warriena's family, and god bring comfort to them in their grief journey and rain your love down on them. There is no bigger heartache than losing a child.

It can happen so easily as you know, and Tostee appears to be a person who gets off on high risk. You would know exactly how Warriena's family are thinking right now, all the grief and disappointment. They must feel so powerless and angry.
I'm afraid when Tostee moves it will start all over again, despite him knowing right from wrong. He didn't learn as a school kid, so not much hope of him learning now.

We live, thankfully, and learn about human nature.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all this knowledge about miscreants and psychopaths, but it's gonna serve a purpose one day I'm sure.

The jurors, I feel, were afraid, of the law. IMO, they did not listen and they did not act in agreement, but ultimately under pressure to conform. Some, allowed men in wigs to dictate and undermine what they knew to be the truth.

If I am wrong, then I am wrong. But that is what I believe has happened. It should have been a hung jury.

Ok, putting myself out their again. He has something but NOT autism. These people don't know or care if your hungry. They don't put up with getting pelted by rocks, they are amazingly honest as they have been taught to live by rules. Autism just means they don't understand social cues. Ie can I be your friend? We have new neighbours with an aggressive barking dog. My son knows to keep away just like the bullies at school. Fark Autism does not mean you don't know danger.
BUT looking at the scheme of things, he was late twenties living in an an apartment Dad paid for.

Thankyou Gecko it is sad & it makes me angry for sure when people drink and drive because they are driving a lethal weapon that can kill innocent people, as they do.
I can't attest fully for Warienna's family, but i can certainly relate to an extent how it feels to have to bury your child in an early grave and the person responsible walks. All i could do was cry, and then thought to myself it doesn't matter because even if the idiot got jail time it would never bring back my son. There is no comfort in any of it really. And as i get older i realise that every year that goes by is one step closer for me too, and i will also have to make that transition. No one escapes that regardless of whether we die young or old.
As far as GT is concerned he will remember what he did and have to be accountable at some stage, IMO.

Soon after the jury passed a note to Justice John Byrne saying they had reached a unanimous verdict before the lunch break, Crown prosecutor Glen Cash told the court he had recently discovered one of the jurors had been posting about her involvement in the trial on Instagram.

Tostee’s lawyer, Saul Holt, QC, made an application for the jury to be discharged.

After lengthy consideration, Justice Byrne decided that given the juror had not been posted specific details about the jury’s deliberations, there were not grounds for a mistrial.

He threw out the application and the jury then delivered the verdict.

I just can't see that juror simply posting on IG and avoiding everything else online. The judge didn't even investigate whether she took it further than posting about her involvement. Just because she didn't post details doesn't mean she didn't jeopardise her duty in other ways.

IMO it's not autism, it's spoiled brat syndrome. Always someone to bail his butt out when he gets into trouble. He should be made to face his consequences of his actions.

I can't type a huge response because I'm on my phone but if you do an advanced search on my name and autism, I remember making some posts in Stephanie Scott's threads. I hope they're still there, in case anyone is interested. I am not verified so you can only take my word that this is an area I have worked in extensively. I'm not a leading expert but I do remember putting lots of effort into some posts after the Asperger syndrome label was dissolved.

While it is not a term that is used medically any more, if you substitute 'Asperger syndrome' any time Tostee is mentioned as having autism, it might help.

If it was my son who called for a lift under such circumstances, I would have smacked him round the head, kicked him where it hurts and driven him straight back to the crime scene to face the music.

Please don't think I'm saying anything like this! I am trying to delineate between societal understanding of autism vs Asperger syndrome with regard to how people with a diagnosis of either behave socially.

People on the spectrum are much more likely to be abused than to abuse.
