I don't believe being on the autism spectrum is grounds for being allowed bail.
I don't even see any evidence of Aspergers.

i have 2 close family members one with autism, the most gentle person out and one with aspergers who is highly intelligent and bothwould never act in this manner.

Exactly. Being a predator towards women and then killing one has nothing to do with autism!!!

That argument better not fly in court - that makes me so angry!!

I'm getting all Freudian here, but I just wanted to add that ,to me, someone who hates women and treats them as expendable objects the way he does, is indicative of somebody with deep-seated rage against his mother. It suggests to me there may have been early childhood issues in terms of healthy bonding with his mum - or the lack thereof.

In trying to understand who he is and how he ended up like this, I'm also wondering about the household dynamics in terms of gender roles when he was growing up, as well as what his relationship with his father was like.

Also, has he been helped out of every scrape he's got into without having to experience the negative consequences of his actions? I suspect so. I think it's just so telling that he rang his father after his lawyer, instead of a friend. At 28 years old, I find that a little unusual.

But then, I suspect that his father was used to getting calls from him in a scrape........

Thankyou, it would me also and it takes us way back where there is a lack of understanding of these things, cos suddenly people put the word autism with GT ....*shudders*

And you know what, regardless of what diagnosis he is given, Tostee obviously knew the difference between right and wrong - as indicated by his immediate call to his lawyer!!!

Outside court, Mr Tostee's solicitor Michael Purcell echoed Justice Mullins' comments, saying the prosecution's case for murder was weak.

"We're heartened by her honour's comments that it appears to be a weak case for murder by the prosecution and that is our position and we feel strongly that that will be borne out in the court process in due course," Mr Purcell told reporters.

"My client and his family look forward to the continuing process and we'll be investigating additional material for a further bail application sometime in the weeks to come."

A few days ago, it was discussed here that the parents' lack of statement of sympathy was damaging their own reputation.

That GT called his father second makes the father appear even worse. I don't think I've ever called anyone after 2 am.

Is GT employed by his father and does GT get a company car? I'm wondering why the phone that contained the recording of the incident was found in the father's car.

I mean, obviously I don't know him at all and haven't had the opportunity to assess him as a psych so this is just a series of my thoughts. I just want to make that clear.

The first thing that springs to mind for me is that sexual sadists often record their torture of the victim to replay over and over later as a masturbatory aid. (horrid but true). And in line with that, the audio recordings could easily be construed as a form of 'trophy' for him to gloat/delight/get off on later. (as well as to post online to share with his pals in order to prove his prowess.)

If he is is sexually sadistic, it is the fear/begging/power aspect he'll be getting off on in the recordings (and in real life) - her pleading with him for her life, begging him to let her go home - those are the things that will be sexually exciting.

But I don't know if that's his schtick or not........it springs to mind as taping the assault/murder is such a common feature in sexually sadistic serial killer cases that I've read about. They SO often have recordings.

From what we do know about Tostee from his own online posts, I personally think he is someone who deeply hates women and is enraged with them. The flipside of that is that he feels powerless to women (and that's probably the root of his hatred)- thus his over-the-top conquest rate and belittling of them on social media. But at root he feels powerless - so it wouldn't surprise me if he got off on sex games that made him feel powerful.

I'd love to know his sexual history with the other women who have come forward to LE. Was he rough? Did he hurt them? Did he coerce or rape them? I would be surprised if he didn't have a negative past history......

I don't believe this is the first time it's all turned sour with a woman for him. And I hope the truth all comes out in court.

Thank you!

Clearly the brother really doesn't want to be seen at this bail hearing. So, why did he go? GT was unlikely to make bail and we know he didn't... Not really worth missing a day of work for. I know there's a separation between work and personal/family life but I can't imagine his boss would be happy for him to waste his annual leave for this stress rather than destressing on vacation.

Regarding the scratches and marks that were noted on GT on 8th, unfortunately the only photos of him entering or leaving the police station or his lawyers are very grainy and blurry.
By the time of his arrest he'd grown a bit of facial stubble so it's hard to make anything out.
I thought I noticed at the time that he had some scabs on an arm (just below the elbow) and knee, maybe that was consistent with whatever labouring jobs he was doing though.

I think his 'labouring job' as the press started calling it, was laying carpets for his dad........

Local abc radio news 91.7 story on warriena soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if the scratches to the back and shoulders were how he was 'hurt' during intimacy, and the scratches to the face were Warriena defending herself when tied ... 'are you going to untie me, because I will destroy your jaw'. They may have found his skin cells under her fingernails and her toenails.

I tend to agree with you elwyn5150. The brother didn't choose to have this creep for a brother. And he does seem like the polar opposite of him. Let the mum and dad support old Gabe, and let the brother remain in the background and have his life as unaffected as possible .. which will be tough enough, as it is.

Was the dad at the bail hearing? Hmmm .....
