I find it interesting that Tostee has this convenient lapse of memory thing, and that his dad seems to buy into it. The man has clear presence of mind to act in evasive aqnd self-interested ways immediately after Warriena's death, has the presence of mind to taunt her and 'direct' the recording.. I call BULLDUST on the memory lapse. I think it's gotten him a pass in the past and he's used it ever since.

Just another way to avoid responsibility. I think he goes so far as to try to convince himself, even.

And yeah, will not be surprised if he edited the recording to make Warriena seem at fault. I think Tostee is a deal more sick and manipulative than most would think.

As a person who has some pretty deep insights into the BDSM scene (though it's not my thing, I swear, lol!) and thereby all kinds of paraphilia and aberrant sexual behaviour and the mentality that comes with it (and by this I do NOT mean BDSM itself..) I stick by my theory that Tostee was a serial rapist in the making. His fantasy life is clearly crossing the boundaries in this recording, and in his reported rapey behaviour prior. IMO it was a matter of time before he harmed somebody.. (eta or at the least got charged for a sexual crime)

Interesting words, "Let her leave" and I s'pose it is because he is the unit key master, and had control of the situation. (and responsibility). Just going over some stuff out loud, sorry if I ramble.

Lots of contradictory stuff here, suggesting a 'set up' -- "I'll be your sex slave" -- but he doesn't enjoy being dominated at all.. So why agree to that kind of sex in the fist place? If Warriena was, indeed, a little hardcore for him, why not simply ask her to leave? Why all the theatrics -- and this point, I am seeing it all as exactly that - theatrics.

How many TIMES does the word "balcony" come up?

0.24am - Six photos are taken on Mr Tostee's balcony with a Canon A550 camera.

1.05-1.08am - The pair talk about death. Males says: "Throw me off the balcony and that is it. This is it boom."

2.15am - Male: "I thought you were kidding and I have taken enough. This is f---ing ********...You are lucky I haven't chucked you off my balcony you god damn psycho little *****."

To me, in light of what happened next, this cannot be coincidence.


Some thoughts on the interaction that night:

0.24am - Six photos are taken on Mr Tostee's balcony with a Canon A550 camera.

0.55am - A sound recorder is activated on a device allegedly owned by Mr Tostee. Police are uncertain what was used to record the audio, but say the file appeared to have been transferred to a Sony XPeria phone, which was later seized.
The Avalon apartments.

0.56am - Recording commences. Music is heard and 20 seconds into the recording a male states, "F--- me".

--- Clearly, he is planning to record the sex. An hour later (I am assuming we have been spared a transcript of the sex... but I wonder what was said, if anything, in that hour....):

1.02am - Male asks female to "chill and have a drink". Female says she is "psycho drunk and not to test her".

-- Here, she tells him she's already drunk, and I wonder if what she's saying here is 'don't offer me any more alcohol, I don't handle it well'.

--- I have a theory here, based on the events around this time.. I suspect that after being told by Tostee that he would be her 'sex slave', Warriena was expecting to be dominant, or at the least switch (taking turns at being submissive/dominant). But Tostee doesn't want to be the sub, at all....

1.05-1.08am - The pair talk about death. Males says: "Throw me off the balcony and that is it. This is it boom."

-- I wonder how the conversation swung to that topic? Are they discussing ways they hope they'll die? How weird, then, is Tostee's reply..

1.16-1.20am - Laughing and sounds of hitting is heard. Music continues to play in the background and there are soft sounds of groaning.

1.29am - Male: "I don't like getting beaten up."

--- I am somewhat confused here. On one hand, I thought it might be Tostee being spanked but then Warriena is clearly in the tied-up submissive role a few mins later -- so I am wondering if this is when she demanded they switch and Tostee has refused.

1.36am - Argument begins when female says she is leaving and can't find her iPhone. She says: "Are you going to f---ing untie me because I will f---ing destroy your jaw."

-- In other reports, she "accuses him" of taking her phone. She's obviously upset, constrained and feeling powerless, resorting to threats.

1.38am - Male: "I should have never given you so much to drink. I thought we were going to have fun?". He then asks her to "calm down".

1.41am - Male asks female to stay, but says "you are just a bit violent". He offers to cook some food. The conversation calms down.

1.53am - Drinks are poured.

--- Things seem to calm a bit, and I presume Warriena is untied by this point. He plies her with more booze.. I wonder if Warriena is scared/angry but keeping it calm in hope she'll get her phone back.

2.00am - The occupant of the apartment below Mr Tostee is woken by the noise, according to her police statement.

2.10am - Back to the audio recording. Male tells female to relax and threatens to "kick her arse".

-- Not "leave" but "calm down". Was she demanding her phone back/upbraiding him for not going through with their agreed sexual activity?

2.11am - There are sounds of a struggle. A minute later, the sound of rocks possibly being thrown in the apartment is heard.

2.14am - Male: "That is enough. You have worn out your welcome. You have to leave."

Female, out of breath: "OK."

2.15am - Male: "I thought you were kidding and I have taken enough. This is f---ing ********...You are lucky I haven't chucked you off my balcony you god damn psycho little *****."

--- Kidding about what??

2.16am - The female, who is breathing heavily, accuses him of being "sexist". She then says "lay off", to which the male replies "seriously what".

2.17am - Male: "You're a god damn psycho. I am going to let you go. I am going to walk you out of this apartment just the way you are. You are not going to collect any of your belongings. You are just going to walk out and I am going to slam the door on you, do you understand? If you try and pull anything, I'll knock you out...do you understand?"

Female: "I am so sorry."

Male: "I don't care."

--- I believe Tostee agreed to some spanky switching "I'll be your sex slave" but really just wanted to be dominant and record it all for his forum, to humiliate her as he had done with many other girls. Warriena is extremely drunk and angry, and she's twigged that this all isn't kosher and she's not being respected, and now he's got her phone and is making threats.

Tostee could have just let her leave. But he decides she needs some more punishment... recording it all the while. I am still not convinced he didn't dump her over the edge of the balcony wall and leave her hanging. Maybe he didn't. But I'm not quite convinced yet. He protesteth too much to his dad, and I think he really is capable of such a thing. More than capable of minimising his part in it too.

The interactions with dad are very telling -- "you had no motive" -- well, how does Daddy know that? He acts like he's used to covering his son's /making excuses for bad behaviour. Isis, I almost typed the very same questions re his maternal relationship!! But I have a new puppy. Puppy trumps crime board. Glad you raised it, I was hoping we could discuss that as I had exactly the same line of thinking there.

Anyways, there's me thinking aloud again, sorry again if it's rambly.

2.21am - A call is placed from Gable Tostee's phone to his lawyer, Michael Purcell. The call doesn't connect

3.47am - Another call is placed to Mr Tostee's father. A sound of a car door opening and seatbelt being put on is heard. Dad tells the male they "need to ring Bill Potts". (Mr Potts runs the law firm representing Mr Tostee.) Dad offers to take the male to hospital, but he declines. Dad identifies "Gable" as the male on the recording

Did he once express dismay or empathy for the fact that a girl FELL TO HER DEATH from his son's balcony??!

From what we've seen it's all about covering his son's a$$. That's shocking!

PS empathy is learned in early childhood - learned!!
