I wondered if Rrie was breathless from the choking making it hard for her to get much noise out.

Plus, if she was really drunk from Tostee's moonshine, she may well not have been thinking normally. Calling for help may not have entered her mind. I can imagine her just focusing on what she was doing - trying to concentrate on getting away, however she could.

I am going to go out on a limb with a theory but reading the transcript made my hairs stand up. Isisrising could you please do me the honour of commenting on my theory?

I think he may have been endeavoring to hypnotize her.

The homeshine vodka, possible stupifying drugs (tox might show) administered to her, and the repetition of the word balcony and the idea of jumping off the balcony---I have been saying that I thought his words were deliberate and this is a very devious murder.
That's IMO of course.

Yep. He's completely blocked out the fact that he put people's lives in danger not long before this, in a high speed---200km/hr---pursuit on a heavily used road. Quite bluntly he could have killed someone in July. This is why I keep harping on about context.

I think you make a great (if awful) point there.

It's like he's planting subliminal messages in her psyche. The repeated use of the word balcony and the repeated discussion of the idea of dying by falling from the balcony is definitely suspicious.

I think you're onto something there. That is indeed, devious and manipulative.

And we know that he is someone who carefully plans everything.......nothing seems left to chance with this guy. He plans and records and logs things (which fits with his OCD - his way off getting through the day with minimal anxiety).

This is exactly what I think. I think that tracking of his recent internet history is going to reveal key phrases like "mind-control drugs". He wanted to see someone go off that balcony IMO.

I keep wondering why Warriena didn't call out for help from the balcony. If the situation was dire enough to attempt a dangerous escape, wouldn't it also warrant a "Somebody help me!!!" ?? (especially given there are other units in close proximity). I worry the defence will use this. Also puzzled by Tostee Snr's reaction. Understand it's natural to want to protect your child, but far out... in such circumstances, I'd like to think the 'average person' would be more concerned about loss of life.

I agree, something doesn't 'feel right' about her actions on the balcony. 26 seconds is not very long to think about your options and decide a 14th floor balcony climb is the safest. I was thinking about it last night and can only imagine two reasons I'd attempt that escape - 1) terrified I was going to be killed or tortured and 2) confused and disorientated. Number 1 could lead to number 2. At 2:18 he is choking her for at least 30 seconds. At 2:21 she falls from the balcony. It's impossible reading the transcript to know what was going through Warriena's mind but I think that choking her left her panicking, in flight mode, and not able to think straight. I think the defence will use her drunkenness to the max though. I wouldn't want to be in the jury on this one.

I think he's far from a mastermind.

But do I think that he does plan and try to control everything that he can - as we see from his systematic logging of his conquests.

If he has severe OCD (as msm reports) then he will be someone with very rigid thinking and someone who NEEDS to plan things out in order to minimise his anxiety. The whole goal of the repetitive rituals with OCD is to keep the anxiety at bay (and the anxiety manifests in the form of obsessive thoughts).

And of course he can't successfully anticipate everything - I'm not saying he can. I'm saying that he'd like to be able to and that control is VERY important to him.

I agree Isis, he plans his whole night out and humiliates women in his recordings. I would like to know how would anyone else act if they'd been strangled by a virtual stranger in a strange apartment and then tossed out onto balcony? She was sickly drunk and probably ready to spew her contents out at any moment.

Where is the gentlemanly behaviour? He is as far from a gentleman than ever could be possible. JMO

GT was a member of BB for 10 years, mustn't thought too badly of the mocking, he probably thinks the guys were jealous.

Why is GT not talking and why is he heavy breathing? So far he's managed to record all of these thoughts and suggestions and all of a sudden, just breathing? No "OMG OMG!!" as she climbs over? I mean no response at all from him, just breathing? He obviously has a fixation with her (or someone) going off the balcony and then he supposedly locks her out and walks away without looking back? Or she goes over on her own and he doesn't say ANYTHING describing the event, even knowing it's recorded ? No way. I think he was out there and he put her over head first, she grabbed on while screaming NO NO NO, and he's heavy breathing because he can't say anything because of the recording, and he's exerted himself lifting/pushing her over. The sound of the door "closing" (after opening to put her out) could have been this: He opens it a bit to put her out, she is tiny, and she's hanging onto the door or hitting the door. He has her out, holding onto her with one arm, and opens the door the rest of the way so he can get his own larger body out...the recording may sound like it's been shut but perhaps it's just been opened partway and then fully until it hits the stopper.

Whenever I let my kids out the sliding door, I open it a little for them and more for myself.

Creep! Why film people when you go out? I dont buy that it was because he would get "blackout drunk" especially when he drank water with no ice!

OMG.

For a so-called genius, Tostee doesn't seem the brightest spark in the world to me.

I forced her onto the balcony
I did not force her over the balcony.

Sounds consistent with the door unlocking (not necessarily opening)
and possible sounds of glass door being hit were recorded at 2.20am.

Is it possible they were still inside the unit at this time.

The following minute or so Rrie repeats numerous times "no, no" and pleads for GT to just let her go home.

The sound of the sliding door shutting is heard on the recording.

Is it possible that someone could actually pick a person up and place them on the rail around the balcony and walk away and slid the door closed?

Would this sound like thudding and scuffling.
