The psychiatrist said Tostee was not suffering from... autism ..

http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au...rder-charge-weak/story-fnje8bkv-1227051069682

So he wasn't UNaware she was dead from the fall.

She didn't try to hit hm until *after* he assaulted her (eta: as per his claim on the recording -- there's no proof she actually did try to hit him with anything, all we hear is him claiming she tried to kill him, then demanding she let go of *something*, and then something light enough to bounce falling to the floor)...

He does not have autism.

Hope this is a help to you, THP. <modsnip>

Narcissism:

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticisim.

IMO Gable ticks all these boxes, so much more than Autism, if we are going to talk about labels

He is clearly not that smart as far as emotional intelligence goes, perhaps this ties in with his autism. He seem to be a reasonably articulate person otherwise.

The next thing I'd look at for high level of glibness + lack of emotional intelligence/empathy is .....sociopathy.

when did the charge change from murder to manslaughter?
Sorry meant to say "will go" instead of "has gone".

The judge at the bail hearing has already said the murder charge is weak and has little prospect of succeeding. Ill bet $5000 you will see the charge reduced to manslaughter when they start bargaining over the charges with the prosecutor. The tape just is not enough to prove murder.

That'd be okay by me. Manslaughter would still send him away for a half decent amount of time, for causing Warriena's death.

Alioop are you around to clarify some legal things please? :)

Thinking of beautiful Rrie today, as everyone prepares for Christmas. It will be an especially difficult time for her family and friends.

Sending them every good wish at this time. May they feel stronger knowing that many, many people will be standing right with them when justice for Rrie is delivered.

But Judge Debra Mullins said Tostee’s intentions were irrelevant under the second definition of *murder, and that it would be up to a jury to test that during the trial. She said it was “not in any way a straightforward case of murder”.

Mr Power said submissions that Tostee’s offending was caused by alcohol were not borne out by the evidence and that Gray Tostee’s actions on the night, in helping his son avoid immediate police attention, were “significant”.

He added that Tostee was likely to be jailed if found guilty of charges over a New South Wales police chase two weeks before Ms Wright died, during which he was shot with capsicum spray which failed to subdue him.

But ask around in the bars and clubs of the Gold Coast and you might hear a different story. 3rd Degree talked to a lot of bouncers and club managers about Tostee and his reputation, and he did have one – a bad one.

Yeah I read all that at the time, but given the amount of lies and sensationalism and media frenzy, I wouldnt give much creedence to it. If he had convictions of stalking or soemthing , yeah perhaps , as I said all the media were able to dig up in his history was the counterfeiting conviction, and the 2 allegations yet to be heard in Jan 2015.

what she said was:

September 8 - At a bail application in the Brisbane Supreme Court, Judge Debra Mullins says the police case may be too 'weak' and 'difficult' for a murder charge, but that she would accept a manslaughter charge.

Michael Purcell tells the court he concedes there's a case against his 28-year-old client for the manslaughter of Ms Wright, but no case for murder.

But police believe they can prove a murder case because Ms Wright, 26, was allegedly in fear for her life while trying to escape the balcony early on August 8.

Has anyone ever considered that it was Tostee’s OCD that set him off?

I knew a guy once who used to really flip out when his family used to repeatedly mess things up .. crumbs on the table, school bags left on the living room floor, etc etc etc. And I mean really flip out.

... on someone who cannot defend himself?? :waitasec:

I'm actually thinking that it is Rrie who cannot defend herself, and the things being said about her. Tostee will have his day in court where he will vigorously defend himself, no doubt. And he has already attempted to defend himself through social media, with the inevitable flow-on to MSM (despite his own lawyer's vigorous dislike of publicity before a trial).

Rrie is the one who cannot defend herself. Rrie is the one who needs someone to be her voice. And thank goodness the police and prosecution have decided to be that voice, through the evidence gleaned from the crime scene, and the testimony of the witnesses, and the re-enactment of the balcony drop, and the evidence on the recording, and the inexplicable flight of the accused. I hope they do a fantastic job of proving Tostee's culpability.

Over the years I would hazard to guess the number of people I have worked with that have had shades of OCD. And yes I could imagine them presented with what could be the perfect storm could become quite aggressive. When GT said " you just don't get it" - I must admit I thought that there could have been a quirkiness that Rrie just didn't get or understand, especially being plied with Vodka. There was something significant that pushed his buttons that went from zero to 100 in a very short period of time.

Not plausible, IMO, as it contained a lot of whitewashing and several lies. I *hope* he tries that on a jury, I really do.
Oh, me too. I'll fly up to QLD to attend the trial if he testifies. I reckon he'll convict himself within an hour of cross examination. Indeed I actually think a good prosecutor could extract a confession.

2014!

Gable Tostee was charged by police twice this year before he was arrested for the murder of Warriena Wright

They detail how he has two outstanding charges against him, both relating to an incident on the Gold Coast on January 27 this year.

Police were called after a tuk-tuk driver claimed he’d run away without paying

As a result he was charged with commit public nuisance and assault or obstructing a police officer.

Later in the year, on July 27, he was charged with high range drink driving after he was allegedly found to be nearly five times over the legal limit for driving.

Tostee was also charged with breaching bail conditions that had been imposed after the January incident.

charged with the August 8 murder of New Zealander Warriena Wright.

But the fact that Tostee helped GET her that drunk by pouring glasses of his illegal, potentially toxic and certainly intoxicating home brew, suggests he was not *too* concerned about it, doesn't it. [/B]
Potentially toxic? ITs home brew, there is no secret to distilling alcohol. ITs no more toxic that store bought. <modsnip>
Dare I need to say it, any drug to excess is toxic, self evident.

Home distilling is dangerous because it can result in the production of methanol in toxic amounts, resulting in many issues including blindness and even death. I would be interested to know if the tox screen included the methanol content in Rrie's blood.

It occurred to me, although it's a major long shot, that if Rrie was suffering from the effects of methanol poisoning her vision may have been impaired and she could have gone over the edge of the balcony by mistake. I do not have the scientific knowledge to ascertain if methanol could impact that quickly, though.
