It was in this link but it seems to have disappeared on me.

What happened to little William?
NEWS.com.au-14 hours ago
... for three-year-old William Tyrell enters a heart-wrenching fifth day. ... of the public discovered a Spiderman suit in a park in Port Macquarie, ... about 40km northeast of Kendall, but later concluded the suit did not match.

I can't see it in that article either :waitasec: ... they must be hiding it from us SAers.

But it is still in this one ....

"A clue finally appeared to surface earlier today after police received reports of a Spiderman suit dumped in a park in Port Macquarie, about half an hour away.

Officers confirmed the discovery a short time later but it was not the same as the one William was wearing when he went missing and was dismissed as a dead end."

Does it seem strange to people that this is not a huge story on most newspapers etc? Something is odd about this case if you ask me and the police / reporters are reacting accordingly.

If the police are now looking at the abduction theory......I'm guessing we should soon see a public media plea directly from the family??? From previous cases it seems that is the usual thing the police request the family to do??

My eldest daughter works for the police in Sydney (admin), her work area received an email this morning about William, so looks like they're widening their search area state wide.

Ohhh .. that is such a double-edged sword. Good that it may mean that William may still be alive somewhere ... bad because it may mean ... well ... you know ... someone despicable may have him.

I wonder if they have been unable to locate a local offender.

See why wouldn't that be a blanket media release? Maybe there is a likely candidate, or they actually just have absolutely no idea what happened. Probably the latter, but still ..

Maybe the police just made a bad assumption here (ie he wandered off) and are reticent to do an about face and appeal for more attention from media.

I guess it is possible that police want to locate William alive, and may fear he will be disposed of if they do a blanket appeal.

Yeah maybe .. Maybe it helped them the whole 'wandered off' thing .. Bought them some time and was a good camouflage?

That did cross my mind a few times earlier ... in that police were reluctant to speak about other scenarios, but SES were saying on their FB site that sex offenders had been checked, and public commenters were saying that houses were being searched and re-searched. This was a day or two before that info hit MSM.

There are also a few comments on the SES FB site about someone seeing an older man and teenage girl with someone who looked like William. That could be nothing though, as people sometimes think they see a missing person and it is actually someone else. SES (or someone) did tell the commenter to please advise Crime Stoppers though. All leads need to be followed up.

Not sure if it is in the comments below this particular post, or another one, I have read all of them and there are tons of comments.

Hmmm, if sex crimes have joined, I wonder how long it will be until homicide is brought in?

*shudder*

If he was abducted I feel it has to be a local , or someone who knew him.
If he really was only outside for 5 mins, the odds of a stranger happening to come along in those few minutes and not being seen must be remote.

If the police are considering an abduction I'd assume we will see an appeal by a family member soon.
I am keeping an open mind on this one and not jumping to my usual conclusions, he looks a well cared for, happy little boy.

An email from the public with information?? I wonder why they waited until NOW to send it?!! The story has been in the news for five days! Could also be someone jumping on the sex crimes or abduction 'bandwagon' I guess.

I picture William in his Spiderman costume, and kind of think that might have put him in a bit more of a vulnerable position; into prey's way, so to speak - sadly. He may not have responded to a stranger if he was just dressed traditionally, but with that outfit on, he might have responded quite well to someone who used the spiderman theme to lure William over. Could just add to the fantasy for the child, in some way, if someone calls out to you as though you really ARE Spiderman and what starts as an extension of 'play', turns sinister...

Agree Xantara, I've seen this happen with my kids, my daughter lately has been dressing as a princess and rattles on about what people will say to her when they see her, it's a talking point for sure, and it does engage her where otherwise she prob wouldn't
Before her, her brothers were spiderman, dinosaurs and Ben 10, and same thing

Not giving up hope

We got deep into a rainforest and we found a campsite out there where someone has been camping and leaving some supplies.

"So we're going to go and suss around that area and see who's doing that," he said.

Mrs Dean Harper from North Haven has been volunteering for the past three days.

"I went out in the bush on Saturday but I'm 74-years-old and I fell," she said.

"So my granddaughter and daughter banned me to the kitchen, so that's where I've been ever since."

I found that really interesting about the campsite they came across.....if this was by chance an opportunistic abduction - it could have simply been a 4X4 driver that simply drove by - saw him... picked him up and continued into the Kendall state forest (Via the Benaroon dirt road access - at the end of the street)... very little chance of being seen at all..

Unfortunately we're disappointed we've been unable to come up with any lead at this point in time," he said.

"But we will continue with those resources into tomorrow and as long as there's any chance of us finding out anything to do with young William's disappearance we will continue looking."

The search for the young boy was today expanded to three kilometres around the spot where he was last seen five days ago.
