Really hard to say because we don't have all the facts. I just get a bit sus when he's around the day wt goes missing
There is no evidence he was around that day. Is there?
He lives in that town, so he was in the general area but nothing places him in the street.

He was supposed to fix the woman's washing machine that day .... In his alibi he claimed he wanted it done that day so that he could be with the grandkids on the weekend

Well that's where the discrepency is for me, as I had read reports in MSM to the contrary and how would we know what his alibi was unless someone was leaking police interviews.

In regards to the allegations against BS - passing children around. I believe police are currently gathering evidence for this. That would be why the judge said that the allegations appear to be unsubstantiated and and also why police have set up an investigation in Victoria.

I'm not saying it's fact, but I'm trying to put the pieces together from what I've read.

I absolutely agree the women are very brave. I have never known police to pursue historical CSA with such energy unless it suits their purposes in another case or it is very high profile and splashed all over the media. They have thousands of requests, that is why the response to child sexual abuse in care inquiry is presently in progress.
I don't think it was a strategy, I think that regardless of how they came across the info regarding the historical assaults the police have a duty of care to act on the allegations. Just so happened that it came up now and if it turns out bs is involved in Williams disappearance then the two woman that were horrifically abused as little girls deserve the biggest thank you ever for coming forward. I just hope all of this has really put the wind up anyone involved with the alleged paedo ring and one by one they fall.

I know many of you have sleuthed a lot of stuff behind the scenes. In regards to BS, were any of you able to establish a relationship between him and JH prior to 83/84 even if it was that BS was in a relationship his ex partner at that time? Put another way, was BS in a relationship with his ex-partner between 1980 and 1983/84?

Can't open it Angeline. Would you please summarize? Thanks.

Ksks, do you mind if I ask, what are the advantages of having him in custody to interrogate him? As opposed to bringing him down to the station or questioning him in his own home? Apart from the obvious uncomfortableness, is there a different process?

Prison is an awful place. Vulnerable people are more inclined to talk.

i agree with this 100%. Why would a taskforce set up to investigate a probable homicide then be laying charges for an historical sex offence. Normally CSA is investigated by a CSA team.

I my not doubting the veracity of the allegations, but I think the historical investigation and charges are part of the police "strategy". And the judge saw that a mile away, which is why he made it very clear, in a public court, that uncharged acts and/ or investigations cannot be taken into consideration for bail on the charged acts.

I have seen two different versions of why he wasnt there on the day. In one I read the grandmother cancelled but in the other he cancelled. What I also remember and here is the link: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...r-william-tyrell/story-fni0cx12-1227195546202
When he was questioned there were some inconsistencies in his story in regards to this.
That makes me wonder about the cc tv investigations. I get that it might not be hard evidence but it is suspicious.

Mr Spedding has claimed to relatives and police he was never due to visit Kendall on the day three-year-old William vanished,

It was earlier believed Mr Spedding, named as a “person of interest”, was due to repair the washing machine on the Friday but did not show up *because he couldn’t get through on the phone.

He told relatives he never planned, nor was booked, to be in Kendall on the day William vanished without trace

He said he was “relieved” when he could not reach William’s grandmother by phone because he didn’t want to perform the repair over the weekend and wanted to take his children to their football game

Still find it strange about his inconsistent story of where he was that day william went missing, also let's not forget ms having to consult a clairvoyant to ask if he was innocent and also the fact that he contacted victim as did ms.

  • #693
And why would he delete the call he apparently made on his log?

  • #694
Yeah I remember (having followed this obsessively since day 1) that all the early reports (when we first heard of Spedding) said he was due to repair it that day, having ordered a part after a previous trip and it had since arrived, but when he called to confirm he was told that it wasn't a good time and they'd have to reschedule.

Only later reports (weeks later, but still referring to that day obviously) started saying he cancelled.

Then there seemed to be some corrections that indeed he did call but was turned away, whereas others said they called him and said not to come.

The whole 'couldn't get through' came even later, and shortly thereafter so did brief mentions that he was eventually able to go back a few days later (possibly when the search was still ongoing) to complete the repair (obviously with all the people there they'd need a working washer).

Who knows whether any/all of this is just 'bad' reporting, inconsistencies in the stories from those involved, or a combination of both.

ok so here's a thought....he rings and the phone is engaged...its Friday and if he doesnt get hold of her soon there is a chance he will have to go Saturday as the family are coming to stay with her and the machine will be need and then he will miss the footy game...so he takes a chance and drives out anyway to get it over and done with. So, not actually booked in as such. Could be there is other stuff that needs doing in that area too? Take a chance so as not to have to work Saturday.....?? A tradie would think like that.

A few people have wondered that, ie maybe he's decided to drop by in case they just weren't answering the phone for some reason, and then stumbled across William.

IF, keyword IF he is found to be complicit in the wt case, he must surely go down as the dumbest criminal on earth. He must have known he'd be in everyone's spotlight regardless of who called who and who canceled or rescheduled etc.

But he was having coffee with his wife wasn't he?
BS said he was not out there on the day.

There has been a few things happening in Queensland lately (and historically) involving police that makes me feel I have little admiration for police anymore.
You also don't need to have much to be accused and arrested for crimes, as it's the Judge and jury who determine your guilt, just ask anyone who has been the victim of a wrongful charge.
At this point, I can't see a conviction for the abduction of the 3yo, nor can I see one for the historical charge, unless they produce more than the Judge had at the bail hearing.

The 3yo....his name is William

That could be where the inconsistencies lay, didn't the owner of the cafe not remember seeing him that day
