A priest was refused bail in Port Macquarie Local Court on Friday, after being arrested the day before on historical sexual assault charges.

Father John Casey is accused of five counts of sexual assault on a person under 16-years-of-age and four counts of sexual assault and committing an act of indecency.

The charges relate to alleged incidents in Lismore more than 30 years ago.

Good question. If he already had it in his van it is a very big coincidence........

In the Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday that matter was adjourned to the Campbelltown Court on July 29

My opinion is the first one, only because I sure wouldn't be getting back on social media if I was the subject of the most anticipated trial in Australia, and I supposedly hated the media intrusion.

I am not sure what I would do if I was the subject of a police enquiry, I would possibly go about my life as best I can, while waiting for a court date, as I don't think he will be able to work etc. What else will he do with his days.
It doesn't say guilty to me, if you are using that as a yardstick, my opinion only though.

i just wondered if the date is still correct or may have changed now he was out on bail,
thought i read somewhere it was to be in august now,
but cant find any info, this was the only date i could find for his next appearance

Me neither. And if I was ever accused of something so awful I would lock down my FB page so tight to prevent people searching for me. And remove as much personal stuff as possible. But I guess not everyone thinks that way so that's their choice.
