Not sure about where everyone else lives but where I live most cars used in the commission of a crime are generally random selections - the keys were in the car, it was left running and unattended, the keys were taken as part of a house break-in.
I live in a semi-rural area, we have houses nearby who have been raided a number of times. We've had houses in built up areas in the nearest town/city that have been raided. I don't think the value of the house has anything to do with raids. I've worked on providing information in a previous occupation on rented sheds in an industrial area that were involved in making/growing drugs. Some were un-sgned premises, others were signed as a particular business. I guess that anyone can be a drug dealer anywhere.
I think there was a high profile one in the past few years who got a new name, I'm thinking Ferguson but I could be wrong.
