The new images of 48 Benaroon Drive are most helpful and interesting. I find the layout very strange indeed (that archway and balustraded area dividing up that lovely big space), but then that's probably just me - everyone's taste in interior spaces is different, I guess.
A few thoughts:
The basement area is less 'finished' than I thought it was, even in the new pics. I always thought it housed the washing machine when grandma lived there, mostly because I seem to recall CY mentioning BS walking around the side of the house to get to it. No link so my opinion only.
The lower driveway seems to not be overlooked by the kitchen or living area, apart from that big window that now has a dark roller blind on it. If the family were doing as reported, sitting on the small balcony area (outside the kitchen) or using the kitchen to make a cup of tea, then they would not see a vehicle entering the lower driveway. I still find it quite shocking that that early pic in the search/investigation shows a police van parked up in that lower driveway - on top of possible evidence! Within the crime scene taped area! Seems far too close to potential evidence to me. Had the perp's vehicle driven into the lower drive, encountered William, and took off, forensic evidence may have been left right there where the police vehicle parked. What on Earth!
I can't figure out where the bathroom is on the floor plan - does it have no windows or is that a reflection of a window I see? If no windows then it certainly would not overlook the lower driveway area that I have always considered crucial to the investigation.
