Mr Nichols said he was on the child protection register for crimes committed in Victoria. He said he was living in Dunbogan when William went missing and said he did not know anybody connected to the case.

If he is lying about not knowing anyone and police find out otherwise they can get him for lying during an investigation.

Maybe police are trying to fish for info by making his name public.

Also "did not know" anyone does not mean he hasn't met any of them. I have met a lot of people but do not know them.

Just my over-analytical thoughts

I just really want to know why this man's name was made public.......

Have a hinky suspicion he knows the other POI's pretty well.

I'm guessing, like everything in this case, releasing his name now is strategic. I'm certain Jubelin and the team know who is responsible for William's disappearance but have to prove it.

BS is the key to all of this. There is no doubt in my mind. He took advantage of being in proximity to William's grandmother and knowing William and his sister would be at the house. If he was caught or seen that day on the section or near the house, his excuse was too obvious. He had reason to be there, and he took advantage of that. He doesn't seem like the smartest man - luck was on his side that day. I believe the perfect opportunity presented itself and good/evil collided. Possibly when William was waiting for his daddy to get home.

Nichols and other POI have most likely helped with hiding William or passing him to other members of the paedophile ring. They are all covering for each other. Authorities are closing in.

In the 60 minutes interview, I feel as though the parents were directing their pleas to someone in particular, in my opinion it's the wife of BS or whoever has given the police his so called alibi. I feel like this case is relying on someone to come forward. Hopefully releasing Nichols name is enough for someone to put two and two together or feel scared enough to come forward. The pieces are coming together and I'm sure the panic is setting in. With good reason. You will be exposed.

Oh that's right Col .... bit of confusion in the beginning as I recall .... BS was there to repair the washer before, after William vanished. Eventually the time being at 2 pm following BS having been with MS at that critical time.

I know they were brought in very early on, I meant why are they releasing this guy's name & that information now, unless it's significant.
& then the police play it down? Are they not the ones who released it? Or did the media decide to run with it?

Derek Nichols was interviewed several times, according to reports. The elderly man lived in the same town from which William disappeared in 2014, however, he said he was out of town at the time.

Got a coffee receipt to prove it?

It looks like Nichols resides in Port Macquarie. I have a gut feeling he will have affiliations with Paul Bickford. Was Nichols involved with GAPA at any point, I wonder.

It says they've been "advised" not to rather than choosing not to to for their own sanity. No criticism of the family but I find it very strange advice to have given them. I can't read the article, do they mean they got rid of all his things from the room he already had or have they moved house and are just not "setting up" a room for him there?

I would think that the advice they are receiving involves ways in which to cope with the horrific tragedy they are faced with (not clinging to 'false hope' being a part of that coping strategy) .... suggestions on how to maintain some sanity and semblance of normality, for themselves and for their daughter.
They can choose to accept this advice, or ignore it.
William's belongings are probably safely packed away - in case a miracle happens.

Searching for 4 vehicles that were on Benaroon Dr.

Wonder if Nichols's vehicle matches one of the descriptions. IMO the speeding white 4x4 is the vehicle that may hold answers.

Can anyone remember a case in port Macquarie (2009) I think where a 5 year old boy was abducted? I'm not from there, I believe the person involved is in prison but I can't find any info on the case. Do any of you from the area remember this case? I know this is off topic but have just been thinking about the whole more than 1 person being involved scenario.

While we wait for news .. What is everyone's current theories on what happened that day, & whether or not you think little William is still alive?
I know people have discussed it at length throughout this whole thread, but as time has passed & things happen, (like announcing no evidence in TJ vehicle, but no mention of the forensics on Speddings belongings) has people's opinions changed much?

My theory is that BS abducted William. With the help of others, parked at the grandmothers house. Possibly scoping the house out and waiting for an opportunity to arise, which did.
William ended up with a paedophile ring - senior citizens, caravans.
Is he still alive? While it saddens me to say this, I do not think he is. If he is, I don't even want to think about what may be happening to him. I think that even BS wouldn't know where he is now, he's probably been exchanged so much. Is he even in Australia still?
In my heart I hope William is being cared for by some dotty person who is treating him like a son, the alternative is too sad to even think about.

I just find it too much of a coincidence that we find out Nichols was in Dunbogan on the day William disappeared. Which is where BS was also.

BS Timeline
A Transaction at Buzz Cafe in Laurieton (10kms from Kendall) - coffee with his wife at around 10am.
BS then went across the road to Laurieton Public School, where one of his grandchildren was receiving a principal's award.
Earlier in the day, BS also had some work in nearby Dunbogan.
