Mr Nichols said he was on the child protection register for crimes committed in Victoria.

Whoa, that just stood out to me. There's the Victorian connection again.

When police raided a cabin at the caravan park in Laurieton, they were told it had been rented by a middle aged couple from Victoria.

Spedding has been accused of crimes in Victoria too, right?

there doesnt seem to be much info on dn except his local music performances and hes not on makofiles, if hes on the offenders register surely his name should come up in relation to that offence? unless he changed his name?

so many connections to victoria, caravan parks and grandparents!

JFW - I think the Sky article has it wrong. That's the only place I've seen that printed. Very frustrating for sleuthers!

Ok, well it sounds to me like there is/was a major pedophile ring in Victoria and somehow a number of these slimes migrated to the Port Macquarie region.

That's the only thing that makes sense. I mean how do pedophiles move to a region and just find each other? It's not exactly something you would bring up in conversation. They must have already known each other.

Thanks! Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my mind.

I have a gut feeling the Laurieton Pawn shop was maybe a significant meeting place for the paedophiles, and the silence in regards to the forensic tests is telling.

It chills me to the core that these sex offenders can play piano at events and volunteer at GAPA and live their lives interacting children.

Same....frustrating. Im guessing he could have been a music teacher though. Maybe not full time but very likely.

Agreed. I see there were many sex abuse claims at the Tasmanian Anglican Church during his time working with them, but that is not a surprise.

My theory is that BS abducted William. With the help of others, parked at the grandmothers house. Possibly scoping the house out and waiting for an opportunity to arise, which did.
William ended up with a paedophile ring - senior citizens, caravans.
Is he still alive? While it saddens me to say this, I do not think he is. If he is, I don't even want to think about what may be happening to him. I think that even BS wouldn't know where he is now, he's probably been exchanged so much. Is he even in Australia still?
In my heart I hope William is being cared for by some dotty person who is treating him like a son, the alternative is too sad to even think about.

Horrible to think about what may have happened.
I can't decide who I think is guilty of actually taking him, Bill or Tony.
I think if Bill took him, then what you JFW said could have happened & he could be alive somewhere, in god knows what kind of situation..
It is too coincidental his past accusations (even though his victims were female), his being at the house days prior, the police attention on him (we know they know so much more than we do).
If Bill took him, he would have definitely passed him on to someone else, maybe held him in that pawn shop first.
I think if Tony stumbled across him, it was accidental, he was in the area maybe checking out the empty houses, or stealing the wheel rods from the bins & happened to cross paths with little William. If he took him, with what his family claim, that he arrived home drunk that day, I hate to think what he did, but I don't think William would have left his company alive, almost like with Daniel, the opportunity just presented itself & he took advantage of it.
I really hope it's a completely different situation too, & that someone is loving him & caring for him, either way, what he has already been through would be horrific for him, poor little man.

Yes, it's very interesting that the forensics on Spedding have not been released, especially when results for other POIs have been released. The police must be holding their cards close to their chests on that one. Maybe they have DNA but it's still not enough for the prosecution?

I was walking through Laurieton last month and it's interesting to note that the pawn shop is less than a block from the public school and the cafe formerly known as Buzz cafe. The cafe and school were used as an alibi by Spedding.

Even if Spedding is telling the truth about being at both those places, it's still very feasible that he could have been to Kendall and made a special stop at the pawn shop before going to the school and café.

He apparently has a bank statement to show he was at the café but it's unlikely to show the time.

Finally, it feels like I understand what the police are thinking.

Yes, these two theories are exactly what I think happened but you worded it better than I ever could. I can't decide which scenario is worse. Poor little William.

Maybe William ended up at the Pawn shop for however long BS (and possibly AJ) held him there and then off to Dunbogan or passed along to DN or other members of the ring. The caravan park screams are a key of what happened to William, I think. He ended up in a caravan, that's a feeling I have.

Didn't he plead guilty and get a 16 month suspended sentence for that?

Yes, I thought so... and the girl's family were understandably upset. I wonder if police are trying to get him on an historical offense. I imagine they've been going through the histories of these POIs with a fine tooth comb.

They spend time in prison together

I can't imagine there is Dna found in speddings cars or home but he has not been charged....

^ Could the police be worried that the defence might argue that Spedding had been in the house to install the washing machine part and could have picked up DNA?
