But I just wondered why such a decision was really made. Perhaps they know William will NOT be coming back.

imo.

“It’s been weighing heavily on us the fact that it’s been 18 months and we feel like we’re letting the family down,” Det Insp Jubelin said.
“But we’ve got numerous lines of inquiry that we’re actively pursuing and we are always staying confident we will find out what has happened to William.”
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

I wish someone would just open their trap and spill it! Whoever took William sure did a good job covering their tracks. Just disgusts me.

“We’ve been advised to not set up a room for him because it gives false hope for not only his sister but for us,” his mum said.

If the little sister knows that the nice "Gary" is looking for her brother until he will find him, then it would be normal to leave William's room just as it was, I think. The family owns a large house and there is space enough, I've understood. From the little sister's perspective it would more depend on how the parents behave and deal with the presence of the room (like tears, secret, prohibitions, taboos). IMO

yes, it doesnt make sense, if you truely believe your child is still alive and returning, you leave their room waiting for them surely? and not give the remaining child false hope by assuring them the policeman will find the missing child?
it must be very distressing though to have your little boys room all set up with his toys and belongings but no little boy

Yes that is new. Let's hope it's a lead on vital information that they need.

"Mr Nichols said he was on the child protection register for crimes committed in Victoria. He said he was living in Dunbogan when William went missing and said he did not know anybody connected to the case.

It is the second time the tiny town of Dunbogan, south of Port Macquarie, has been provided as an alibi to police.

Tradesman Bill Spedding, who also denies any involvement, told detectives he was repairing a washing machine in Dunbogan shortly after William went missing."

What are the odds?

What are the chances that a "suspect" who claims to not be involved - who's alibi includes attending a client in Dunbogan the day of William's disappearance...... then a second suspect is named in the media...who comes from Dunbogan.....

could be just coincidence...or police wanting to join dots that don't really exist...but who knows???

whoever knows something needs to come forward now....because police WILL eventually figure it out.

Strangely confusing article....dates are probably important....

The most significant??? in May "when they came and inspected my house" - Was this your house in Kendall or Dunbogan??

He was living in Dunbogan at the time William went missing.......

He was on the child protection register for crimes committed in Victoria. .....

Documents tendered to court reveal that Victorian police are also pursuing an investigation into Mr Spedding's alleged involvement in a ring that uses children for sexual gratification.

Mr Nichols appears to be involved in the senior's groups/activities around Port Macquarie/beyond.....if anyone can find a direct link between him and the first "Media" mentioned suspect.....it may be important....??

The police do seem quite certain that poor little William has been the victim of pedophiles and I guess they are privy to info that they will never share publicly. As time goes on it must be difficult to piece it all together .... what with poi's being inside, facing other charges etc. Nobody is going to admit to being involved and nobody has come forward with any significant evidence. I do think Jubelin and his team are doing a good job and hopefully someone will crack soon especially if they are offered to be able to serve their time in a less hostile jail. I also think that something was missed on the very first day....but that as time marches on memories fade.

Tbh I can understand them not keeping his room. The detectives are part of homicide and the likelihood is that little William is no longer alive. If an organised paedo gang did have him I don't think they would be keeping him alive to be found. They would want rid of him if the heat turns on them. Personally I think he was moved out of Australia to somewhere like New Zealand soon after he was taken and is probably no longer alive. It would be easy to transport a little blond boy on any small blond baby's passport. And if they flew him out from an airport not in NSW, it would be even easier. By the time they were on to BS I wouldn't be surprised if little William had been exchanged several times over tbh

Mr Nichols’ denial comes as another roadblock emerged for police in their investigation. It can be revealed no evidence was discovered in a car seized from a paedophile on the state’s mid-north coast in September.

Forensic testing of a white station-wagon belonging to convicted child molester Tony Jones failed to turn up any trace of William or clues about his disappearance

Well there's the answer to the lingering question about the station wagon....

Maybe this guy drove the other vehicle that police were looking for?

The coincidences are definitely uncanny......

So like the 3 others, why are they making this man's name public? There must be some connection other than the cities IMO

This new POI also faced court in Port Macquarie in October - I saw his name in the NSW court lists for Port Macquarie, I work in Laurieton and know of this latest POI so remembered his name. I wonder whether the charges were related to the search at his home earlier in the year and something was found......

It will take me a while to find a link, but does anyone else remember the crying child in the caravan around the same time that William disappeared? There was a link to Victoria there too.

I'm interested in why they're releasing his name now, since they searched his house last May.

Also, IMO there's a chance that there may not be any coincidence between them all claiming alibis in Dunbogan. If you've been there, it really is a tiny place and it's not at all surprising that locals are all seemingly connected.

Putting maximum squeeze on the weak links in the ring?
