Alleged paedophile William "Bill" Spedding was due to face Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday for a filing hearing after he was charged with seven child sex crimes offences by Victoria Police on July 4..............

The offences are alleged to have occurred in Clarendon near Ballarat and other locations across regional Victoria................


Court documents revealed police had charged Spedding with multiple child sexual abuse offences, including various counts of indecent assault and sexual intercourse with children between 1983 and 1985.
The documents also revealed in one incident Spedding was accused of indecently assaulting a child in a lounge room.

In another incident he is accused of sexual penetration of a girl under the age of 10.

Police also allege in another incident Spedding forced a child to masturbate him.................

"There is a real grave concern in relation to prejudice of future jurors," he said.

But Mr Stratmann rejected the request. He said jurors were "robust and responsible" and not "fragile and prone to prejudice".

"Juries are robust and when properly directed can deal with issues before them," he said.

Spedding will return to the Ballarat Magistrates Court in October.

What a creepster!!!! I just cannot see how there can be this many coincidences linking this guy to whatever happened to William for him to be uninvolved. I still think he grabbed William, then passed him on to some other pedo buddies possibly at the caravan park JMO.

Why would the charge sheet be redacted? Why is it ambiguous how many victims there are in this set of charges? Did one of the victim's mother suspect this was happening in this 4-5 year period?

Even if Spedding had nothing to do with William's disappearance it's still great that he's having to face these charges and his past victims had the strength to come forward, that takes a lot of guts, all power to you ladies!

police did say at the time of his nsw arrest that victorian police would also be investigating and making possible further charges regarding bs involvement in claims of children being passed around and p/ring claims

I'm still searching an article with the content "he gave the child to another man for abusing" (or similar wording) - I can't find it now.

Having a little trouble with the two places named - where the offenses are allegedly supposed to have taken place.

At first I couldn't find Clarendon...apart from in South Aust....but after a bit more searching found a very very small country town just south east of Ballarat......so ok...can tick that one.

But the only Corio in Victoria that I know of and have found is down Geelong way ...... and Geelong have their own Magistrates Court.

So am I missing something?

Any legal techs here ..... Why would a filing be done in Ballarat if possibly only one offence took place within their district (region)...

Ballarat cases fall under the Grampion region..so include Ballarat and surrounding areas........But Corio would fall under the Barwon South Region....

Confusing......

But Interesting. ...... this might be a wake up call for people that know Bill...and they remember some weird behaviour around that time...as it is quite specific on the locations and the time frame......

Given he didn't live in Victoria......these extra details might jog someones memories... ohhh that was when Bill had holidays and went to victoria to visit such n such... or visited friends.... or visited family in those areas...

Hoping this extra information will open a can of worms.... provoke thought by people who know him...

That's if ..... media outlets aren't asked to pull those details (town names) from their stories.... fingers crossed those details stay public.

“Police were made aware of further disturbing allegations of children being involved in, witnessing or performing sex acts on each other with another male adult present, or the giving of a victim by ... the accused to another male adult associate for sexual purposes,” court documents allege.

Many of the alleged offences took place in Victoria and involve “not only further offences committed against the victims in this matter, but also further victims”.

“There is evidence of other adult offenders who are complicit in similar child-sex offences both independently of and in conjunction with the accused in this matter,” according to the court documents.

Victoria Police is currently investigating and “it is anticipated further charges will be brought ... in the foreseeable future”............................


“I’ll get through this,” Ms Spedding said after the hearing, while declining to answer further questions.

That would make it about 1987 but who knows how long they courted before marrying.

I remember BS' first wife had children with another man and BS became the stepfather of the little girls .... Or am I wrong? I remember I stumbled over this thinking: pedos are always searching for women with little children. I may be wrong. Have to look for that. :gaah:

Police have previously alleged the offences occurred when he was staying in a caravan near Campbelltown. The accused allegedly had sex with the victims, penetrated them with his finger and forced them to touch him sexually.

Victim’s statements and medical reports are believed to be part of the police’s case against Spedding.

Magistrate Guy allowed bail to continue and scheduled an arraignment where he will enter a plea for June 10 at Campbelltown District Court.

Spedding left the court with a small group of supporters and made no comment.

On the 10 June, BS was to enter a plea ..... presumably trial date set for Jan or Feb 2017.
Would that indicate a plea was entered?

But a Sept date was also set presumably to seek a permanent stay of proceedings ....... on what grounds I wonder, given BS was not charged for Victorian charges until the 4 July.

I think this was hashed and re-hashed on an earlier thread. From memory (but I'm not stating it as fact) they had the evidence but didn't proceed due to the age of the victims. Can someone help me out here?

Two victims and the younger one wasn't "accepted" as a possible victim due to age - so my memory. Maybe wrong.
