And why do they think a car part may have fallen off, if they're looking for the part? Is it a question of the identity of two vehicles perhaps captured on CCTV . . . and a POI admits to one being his, and denies the other, because he wasn't there and look, that's not the same car, it's missing a ---. Or it has a different number plate maybe.

That car part has always been a mystery. It sure as heck isn't on the off-chance that they are/were looking for a car part. Someone's vehicle was missing a car part, or had a car part replaced recently (at the time) because they had lost the part.

Yes, it could have been a before/after thing. CCTV showing a vehicle with a car part, CCTV later on showing the vehicle without the car part.

Or it could have been a noisy muffler heard in the forest. And someone had been into a garage and had their muffler/tailpipe/whatever fixed.

I wonder whether he observed the initial commotion as well as the time his wife left and is therefore in a position to say more exactly than anyone else what time William was discovered missing.

One would think the police would have been all over this pair. The wife had the opportunity to remove William. Husband scooping in dams could have disposing of the body, anchoring it to the bottom maybe.

I wonder if they're both still alive.

This may be why it is thought the van *cough,cough* left via the cemetery way, along the dirt tracks that were searched, where a car part may have fallen off. Because the neighbourhood activity around that time saw no vehicle.

Three vehicles belonging to Spedding were taken away for forensic examination. Then, in March, police spent two days searching bushland off Houston Mitchell Drive, which the locals call the Ghost Road. It’s one of the few roads out of Bonny Hills, en route to Kendall. Spedding drove past in his van as the police search was taking place.

i did a google drive ages ago and pretty sure theres a white 4wd and possibly caravan parked up a driveway of a very close neighbour, i guess its a pretty common vehicle though

I vaguely remember police received a tip about a vehicle that led to the Ghost Road search. I can’t remember if it was a van or a 4WD. Only other thing I remember there was a sensational front page on the Tele about BS driving past the searchers. I’ll take a look through the threads tomorrow.

Are you suggesting the spiderman toy was planted? In that case wouldn't Spedding's side have just denied knowing anything about it, rather than saying it was a gift from one of the kids?

Maybe because people lie or minimise events rather than tell the truth JLZ. I seem to remember it may have been MS that proffered that explanation. Will have to check.

Check back onthread for the discussions of the date the house in question was listed and then sold as well as others. Other residents of Benaroon Drive have also moved away since William disappeared. It must have been quite a bonanza for a local REA if they used the same one.

Acting Superintendent Commander Tony Joice, who is heading the taskforce investigating the three-year-old’s disappearance from the north coast village, said officers need to rule out any potential leads in the “astonishing” case.
“If you were in the Kendall area, we need to know what you were doing, who you were visiting, what car you were driving, what you were doing there,” he said.
“It’s about putting the pieces together.”.............

But the complete absence of evidence — tracks, scent trails, pieces of clothing, blood or hair — has heightened fears he may have been abducted.

Commander Joice said the dog squad was brought in last week to search an area police believed could hold some clues but failed to find anything significant.

He said police did not believe William was still in the area and were now investigating the possibility he was abducted.
“Considering how exhaustive that ground search was, we were there 24-7 for over a week, the chances of him being in that vicinity are very small,” he said.
“We’re comfortable that search has been completed and are pursuing other lines of inquiry.”

However, he said William’s four-year-old sister, who was with him when he went missing, had not been able to shed any light on what happened.

This sentence really bothers me for some reason. It doesn't make sense to me. If *the 4 year old sister* was able to shed light on Wt's disappearance, then I have lots of questions.
If she was unable to shed light on the disappearance, I have lots of questions about that as well. Why did Tony Joice tell that information to reporters? I hate the Daily Terror but I have found Lia Harris' reporting on the investigation, thorough and credible so far. MOO

Yes a highly motivated seller. Maybe he was frightened of his neighbors. Maybe the location of some cars on the border of his property brought a lot of heat down on him from the police and it was traumatic for him to be under any suspicion
