And why do they think a car part may have fallen off, if they're looking for the part? Is it a question of the identity of two vehicles perhaps captured on CCTV . . . and a POI admits to one being his, and denies the other, because he wasn't there and look, that's not the same car, it's missing a ---. Or it has a different number plate maybe.

That car part has always been a mystery. It sure as heck isn't on the off-chance that they are/were looking for a car part. Someone's vehicle was missing a car part, or had a car part replaced recently (at the time) because they had lost the part.

Yes, it could have been a before/after thing. CCTV showing a vehicle with a car part, CCTV later on showing the vehicle without the car part.

Or it could have been a noisy muffler heard in the forest. And someone had been into a garage and had their muffler/tailpipe/whatever fixed.

Thanks bb. Very precise timekeeping.

ETA. So, the man’s wife left 2 to 4 minutes before or after William went missing?

’Ahead, on your right, a grass slope rises steeply, unfenced, from the road. You notice a child in a Spider-Man costume. There’s no one else around. It’s 10.30am on Friday, September 12, 2014.’

How could toddler William Tyrrell simply vanish into thin air?
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...sh-into-thin-air/story-e6frg6z6-1227308929078

I wonder whether he observed the initial commotion as well as the time his wife left and is therefore in a position to say more exactly than anyone else what time William was discovered missing.

One would think the police would have been all over this pair. The wife had the opportunity to remove William. Husband scooping in dams could have disposing of the body, anchoring it to the bottom maybe.

I wonder if they're both still alive.

This may be why it is thought the van *cough, cough* left via the cemetery way, along the dirt tracks that were searched, where a car part may have fallen off. Because the neighbourhood activity around that time saw no vehicle.

If it was a sturdier 4-wheel drive, would a car part have potentially fallen off?

Yes, the van *cough cough* is mentioned here:

’Police are also seeking information about a four-wheel-drive spotted driving through the area around the time the toddler vanished and a green/grey sedan seen in Benaroon Drive on the morning of the disappearance.’

I don't know where the tree stump is. I have never paid much attention to that stuff, as I don't believe it is significant (something only a kid would do imo).

There is no van mentioned there. lol

But there is one mentioned here. I stil wonder why the police were searching specifically here. Their random searches seem quite specific. CCTV? Pings? Witness statements?

Three vehicles belonging to Spedding were taken away for forensic examination. Then, in March, police spent two days searching bushland off Houston Mitchell Drive, which the locals call the Ghost Road. It’s one of the few roads out of Bonny Hills, en route to Kendall. Spedding drove past in his van as the police search was taking place.

It’s heartbreaking. You can hear the disbelief and trauma they experienced when William was first discovered missing. Their fear for William. The desperation of day after day of searching for him with no result. The utter devastation of leaving Kendall without their son. The anger they feel toward the person or persons responsible for William’s disappearance and those who continually accuse them of wrongdoing, despite having been cleared by police. The all-consuming grief, mixed with the hope that one day their son will return.

’And in a message to William’s abductor his mum asked:

“Why did you take him? What makes you think it’s OK to take a child? What makes you think it’s all right to steal a child? What makes it OK for you not to give him back?

What makes it OK for you to submit a three and-a-half year-old boy to this? How can somebody think this way? How can this person’s friends and family and associates look this person in the eye every day, knowing or suspecting that they abducted a three and-a-half year old defenceless innocent child?

“You need to bring William back.”’

I’ve never truly believed that a van *cough cough* was used to abduct William.

I vaguely remember police received a tip about a vehicle that led to the Ghost Road search. I can’t remember if it was a van or a 4WD. Only other thing I remember there was a sensational front page on the Tele about BS driving past the searchers. I’ll take a look through the threads tomorrow.

ETA. Here you go:

’Fairfax Media understands a three-day search of bushland in early March [2015] was instigated after a witness reported seeing a vehicle drive down a fire trail about the time William disappeared. The search zone was 21 kilometres from where the toddler disappeared.’

Are you suggesting the spiderman toy was planted? In that case wouldn't Spedding's side have just denied knowing anything about it, rather than saying it was a gift from one of the kids?

Maybe because people lie or minimise events rather than tell the truth JLZ. I seem to remember it may have been MS that proffered that explanation. Will have to check.

I appreciate what you’re saying, deu.

Check back onthread for the discussions of the date the house in question was listed and then sold as well as others. Other residents of Benaroon Drive have also moved away since William disappeared. It must have been quite a bonanza for a local REA if they used the same one.

    SOLD$308.5kPRIVATE TREATY

Sold byKew First National Real Estate
    224days listed

First listed on 4 Nov 2014through Kew First National Real Estatefor $359k

This indicates the home was initially listed a mere 54 days after WT's disappearance. Yes, several neighbours also subsequently listed and sold their homes, however it was the speed at which this one was officially listed with organized real estate that popped out at me.

Although not 'sold' (which is the 'closing date' when the transfer of ownership actually occurred, as opposed to the date when the purchaser put in an offer that was accepted), until June 2015, it is the owner's decision to sell, after having owned the home for almost 15 years, that came quickly, before 2 months had even gone by, which I find of interest, and especially after comments made by the owner's next-door neighbour. Initially listed at $359K, it was reduced 'for quick sale', although I cannot tell at which point it was reduced. :

Acting Superintendent Commander Tony Joice, who is heading the taskforce investigating the three-year-old’s disappearance from the north coast village, said officers need to rule out any potential leads in the “astonishing” case.
“If you were in the Kendall area, we need to know what you were doing, who you were visiting, what car you were driving, what you were doing there,” he said.
“It’s about putting the pieces together.”.............

But the complete absence of evidence — tracks, scent trails, pieces of clothing, blood or hair — has heightened fears he may have been abducted.

Commander Joice said the dog squad was brought in last week to search an area police believed could hold some clues but failed to find anything significant.

He said police did not believe William was still in the area and were now investigating the possibility he was abducted.
“Considering how exhaustive that ground search was, we were there 24-7 for over a week, the chances of him being in that vicinity are very small,” he said.
“We’re comfortable that search has been completed and are pursuing other lines of inquiry.”

However, he said William’s four-year-old sister, who was with him when he went missing, had not been able to shed any light on what happened.

BUBM
This sentence really bothers me for some reason. It doesn't make sense to me. If *the 4 year old sister* was able to shed light on Wt's disappearance, then I have lots of questions.
If she was unable to shed light on the disappearance, I have lots of questions about that as well. Why did Tony Joice tell that information to reporters? I hate the Daily Terror but I have found Lia Harris' reporting on the investigation, thorough and credible so far. MOO

Here is the stump and 256 batar creek rd
Does anyone know how exactly 256 batar creek rd came into this?
P.s. you can reach the stump earlier by taking some of the short cuts through the bush roads off Batar creek rd
