Thanks. So it's an underground thing? I'm imagining something similar to where petrol stations store petrol. So how do people access them?
It has access lids above ground.

Septic Tanks provide an onsite sewage disposal system for homes on the urban fringe and in rural or remote locations. Effluent flows from the toilet, bathroom, laundry and kitchen into a tank, where liquids, fats, oils and solids are separated.

We had a caravan at Bonny Hills for over 20 years, and it was such a beautiful, quaint coastal town. This new information is making me feel sick. Hoping for positive news but it's not seeming likely. Poor little William. :(

An elderly couple? That seems so odd. I was expecting middle aged men to come under scrutiny. Very creepy. ugh

Perhaps it's nothing. The just follow up on a tip? Who knows if the information they received via Crimestoppers is even credible.

Lots of police, news and at least one helicopter over the property being excavated. The elderly couple are guardians of children? If so, why are they guardians and why aren't the children with their parents?

  • #387
I think it's their grandchildren.

Oh, I'm not liking this at all. They could have preliminary DNA results now - from the mattress and/or searched properties. Doesn't take that long to get a type if you have jumped to the front of the queue. And now they are onto a septic tank. Ohhhh ......

they are guardians of three grandchildren

.....connecting dots....is it love or $$

Yes, it is a worry isn't it? Or are the three grandchildren with them due to 'a complicated family history' too? But the complication still has access to the children, and asked/told the guardians to watch another child too, for an interim period of time.

I'm keeping hope alive it is just his clothes they are finding there.......and that he's safely tucked away with people

Police are sifting through a mountain of bark a few metres from the septic tank as dogs on the property continue to howl.

Two officers were seen using rakes and picking up large clumps with their hands as plainclothes detectives watched on.

Resident Dean Pollard said the couple are the guardians of at least three grandchildren.

He said at least 20 police officers and six cars were parked outside the home since 7am on Tuesday.

Next-door neighbour Hannah-Jayne, 18, said she was deeply disturbed that police were searching the couple's home in relation to the toddler's disappearance.

She told Fairfax Media she did not know the couple that well but said one of their grandchildren often played with her dog Wilfred.

"It's really scary," she said. "I hope they find him [William] soon, just hopefully not next door to my house."

Another neighbour said she had met the man and two of his grandsons for the first time at a street Christmas party last year.

It is believed the couple rent the property and moved in a few years ago, neighbours say.

The pawn shop that was raided.
What a horrible name for a business. Speddo's Pawn
The name has a shocking double meaning.
Peddo and Pawn :(

If the couple live in their Bonny Hills home, then someone else probably lives in the unit above the shops in Laurieton. Rented out? Occupied by children (parents of the grandchildren?)

Peddo and Pawn :(

The Speddo bit comes from the owners surname

I hear you.....if I put a positive spin on it I would like to think that his original clothes were put in septic system, thereby avoiding detection in landfill etc.

Excellent, I'm going to tell myself this so I can remain positive! I'll also pretend the excavator is there for some landscaping and is completely unrelated. (This probably sounds like I am being facetious and/or sarcastic but I'm not, I just don't want to think negatively :( )

after a bit of googling see the family or person with same last name used to live in wellington nsw where they owned and then sold a rental business, before moving to laurieton.
not sleuthing the family just trying to find any connection to william

I just can't believe this. It's a secluded estate and people generally know each others' business. It's not like everyone ignores each other. People there have been thinking about William a lot while he's been missing. There is a beautiful forest behind the estate. Cars and trailbike riders go in and out - I wonder if they will search there as well??

Another neighbour said she had met the man and two of his grandsons for the first time at a street Christmas party last year.
Didn't William attend a street Christmas party? Although Kendall and Bonny Hills are about 30 mins apart so it may not have been the same street.

""Both properties are believed to be owned by an elderly couple, Nine News reports. The pair were questioned by detectives but released without charge.

Resident Dean Pollard told Fairfax Media the couple who owned the house are the guardians of at least three grandchildren. ""
