Not that I am aware of. Sex Crimes was involved from extremely early in the piece. I have often wondered if some profiling was done and they called them right in.

At least two of the media reports that have mentioned several properties being searched, have stated that they include this unit/store/office at Laurieton if not more in laurieton *but also* one or two places in Kendall.
Mention of a mattress and computer does not sound good

Makes you wonder if there is a known/suspect ring in that area.

The mention of it once being a book store makes me cringe. I have heard about child porn rings based out of 'book stores' which were just fronts for the perps to sell their perverted illegal wares to each other. My heart hurts for this baby. :cry: :candle:

Just a week ago the lead investigator in the case of missing William Tyrell confirmed that there are still 10 officers working full-time to find the three-year-old.

Supt Fehon said investigators had recanvassed the area near where William was last seen in the past weeks, including searching a 1.5km radius with specialist cadaver dogs.
'We've still got a dedicated team in excess of 10 analysts and investigators working full-time and they're going to explore every possible avenue.

He said William's parents were being kept up to date with the investigation through what has been an 'extremely difficult period'.
'They've had to endure a Christmas without young William,' he said.
'They've indicated to me that words cannot describe their pain.

'They pray and hope young William will be returned to them in 2015.'

I can see why police have been trying to keep this under wraps. Too bad someone started talking to MSM. It does not bode well for William's safety with MSM publishing this info.

I wondered about William's safety too. Why would they risk letting the perps know that they are closing in, causing them to possibly do something desperate?
Do they need a warrant to search the property? If so, I wonder what gave them enough to obtain a warrant? Do the homicide squad have more power than local police?

That the sex crimes 'squad' was involved so early has been the strangest thing to me. So homicide was involved early too yeah? That makes sense for a missing person, but sex crimes? That just hasn't made any sense to me. And it doesn't fit with the family situation rumours either (hmm..or does it?).

FACS and the Sex Crimes Squad were both involved very early on, within 4 or 5 days of William disappearing.

“We are working with NSW Police and the family and are doing all we can to assist in this matter,” a FACS spokeswoman said. Asked why FACS had become involved, she said: “Police are leading this investigation … child protection is a fundamental role and responsibility of FACS and it’s in the best interest of the community for us to work alongside other agencies.”

police must have been watching and waiting for enough evidence to get a search warrant, maybe this person/s is known to them and could be a kendall local who has been renting this space for whatever reason?

It certainly does. I remember a while back that police had checked and accounted for all but one known sex offender that could not be located.

POLICE have seized cars, computer equipment and a mattress after raiding two properties on the mid-north coast as part of their investigation into the disappearance of toddler William Tyrell, who has been missing for more than four months.

Sydney detectives executed search warrants in Laurieton, south of Port Macquarie yesterday and took away several items, all of which will undergo forensic testing.

Two people were questioned by police yesterday but were later released without charge, police sources said last night

Police had previously searched every block in the estate at Kendall, west of Laurieton, where William, 3, disappeared while playing in his grandmother’s backyard about 10.30am on September 12

BBM: So now it's been reported that police have seized two cars along with a mattress and computer equipment. Added to that, two properties were raided after search warrants were executed in Laurieton. This could simply mean that the ground floor shop and the unit above were classed as separate properties but I don't think that is the case.

I also find the report that "Police had previously searched every block in the estate at Kendall" very interesting. Was the second property in Kendall? Did the police go back and again search a specific property in Kendall?

I feel an arrest coming on.

Oh little man, I hope you are safe somewhere and this is just a case (as horrible as it is) of abduction and nothing more.

Violette, irrespective of what state in Australia, there is always a backlog with any forensic testing. It can sometimes take up to six weeks or more, depending on the case. Judging by the link that Amee posted at the link below...

The items are expected to undergo urgent forensic examination as police continue their inquiries.

...I would say that the forensic testing will be expedited and we may hear something within the next week or so. That is of course if the police choose to release that information, which I doubt.

The apartment is reportedly above a shop and inhabited by a man and a woman. Fairfax claim up to a dozen forensic police spent most of Tuesday searching the apartment.

The man who owns the shop underneath the unit they were searching has been talking about it,' said a staff member at the Laurieton United Services Club.

'He owns the Laurieton Cellars and was saying that police were upstairs, going in and out all day.'

When the nearby North Haven Bowling Club was asked for information, they abruptly refused to comment.

'We can't say anything about it. We won't say anything about what's going on,' a manager said.

I'm wondering if the people who have been questioned by police are known patrons of the North Haven Bowling Club (aka locals) and perhaps the club staff and/or patrons have been told to keep quiet about the latest developments.

Police were pretty 'open' about how they went about it though - in the sense they did not go in under cover. There were stacks of them there, going in and out, heaps of forensics ppl (who all have their uniforms very clearly marked).

I agree Xantara. If the police wanted this kept quiet the media would have been warned to zip it. Trust me on that one. To obtain a warrant, police investigators have to have a very good case to present to a magistrate who ultimately grants or denies a warrant application. It's not just a matter of the police writing up their own warrant.

Amee, as I mentioned above, a warrant is not easily obtained. The police, whether they be homicide or otherwise, have to present their reasons for a warrant application. The magistrate will look at those grounds, (all of them) and decide yay or nay. Many warrant applications have been denied due to insufficient grounds. And it can be so frustrating for police who must do further investigation (not a bad thing) and once again apply for a warrant. Hope that makes sense.
