The "pawn" shop had not been in operation for some time. There is another similar business in Laurieton and the town proved too small to support both businesses.

Do you know when it closed down, Josie? As police did raid that premises in January 2015. Took away the PC and mattress. Wonder why he would have left the PC there, if the shop wasn't operational.

Wouldn't want to have that stolen in a break-in, one would think.

No I don't sorry SouthAussie. The premises raided was a unit up a flight of stairs above shops. I imagine he used it as an office but don't know for sure.

Wasn't there also a tenant or someone staying above the shop I seem to remember from earlier reports and I thought the mattress and computer came from them not necassarily BS, but they seem to be attributed to him now in MSM?

Thanks.

As you know, I have always been suss of that PC. Due to the fact that the pedo gang inquiries started soon after the confiscation of that PC.

No, that was just our speculation.

The police would not have been able to search and seize if it was not his self-occupied premises.

Fairfax has reported police seized a single mattress and computers from a unit in Laurieton, which is about a 15 minute drive from where the boy disappeared on September 12...................

An employee of a shop underneath told Fairfax forensic officers had taken several items from the scene.

He said he believed a man and a woman lived in the unit but said he had never seen anyone in the office space where police had focused their investigations.

From thread # 3 Post by Angeline , post # 1017, 21/1/2015, 06:37 PM ( sorry have no idea how to bring stuff over from closed thread.........

The man is an experienced contractor who has operated a hire business and a pawn shop, which he ceased operating around a year ago after the small local population could not support a cash converter...

I think the Pawn shop at that stage was only upstairs. From pic's at that time looks like there is a clothing shop downstairs.

This comes as a friend of Mr Spedding has laid out the detailed alibi he told police when questioned about his whereabouts around 10.30am September 12, when William went missing.

A friend told Daily Mail Australia that Mr Spedding went to his Laurieton office on Bold St on the morning of September 12.

He had received a part needed to fix William's grandmother's washing machine, after attending the Kendall home three days earlier for a quote, and attempted to ring her to make an appointment.

The friend said Mr Spedding then went to go meet his wife for coffee at Buzz Cafe, 140m away from his office on the opposite side of the street. Cafe manager Lisa, who did not wish to give her last name, said she recognised Mr Spedding and his wife but said they hadn't come into the cafe 'in a while'.

She told Daily Mail Australia that police had come into the cafe to ask if she recalled seeing Mr Spedding on September 12. 'I've seen him before but I can't remember that specific day,' she told Daily Mail Australia.

The friend said Mr Spedding and his wife then walked across the road to Laurieton Public School to attend a presentation for their grandson.

He told Daily Mail Australia Mr Spedding said he had also attended the presentation with a family friend who was taking photos.

Mr Spedding has asked her to review her pictures to see if he is in any of them, the friend said. On September 12, following the presentation, Mr Spedding went to a job in nearby Dunbogan before ringing William's grandmother again.

So he tried to call twice that day & what became of those photos taken at the school ??

Believe me, as a foster carer previously, I can attest to the fact that FaCS ALWAYS looks at a family (kinship) placement before placing a child in to care with unrelated strangers.
As it is a "paid" position, even with kinship, I'm thinking members of the family did put there hands up. But FaCS decides if they are suitable and when it goes to court, give the evidence as to why/why not.
If FaCS had found her suitable, she would have had them from day dot!
MOO.

I agree with all you say.
They do not remove children for no reason and kinship is always the preferred option.
imo

My understanding was that FaCs policy was to always look at kinship care 1st for placement for indigenous children, not all children. MOO

Very true. I'm sure that with NC knowing that William was being " hidden" , she would never of been given kinship care ( as it should be ) ..............
