Like you, I remember the only thing Spedding saying about that day, initially, was that he went to Dunbogan.

Then much later we learned that he was just all over Laurieton that morning ... his office, the cafe, the school. Spent a good couple of hours there, at least.

I wonder if it took more than a few nights of pillowtalk to work out where he was that morning?

With his gifted spiderman figurine to keep him company.

I wonder if the Dunbogan customer did not want to go along with his need for a morning alibi? Or if he just couldn't recall that morning initially? Stalled giving the police an answer on that, till Margaret helped him to remember.

Now lets remember SA whom ever that relo was he was watching the news with before bed........ "I think I have been to that house" BS proclaimed.
Oh wait I called that house this afternoon from Dunbogan.
They called me, I called back and could not get through ...I think.
Hang on I will check my phone log.

No mention that he said I will fill up with fuel and head out tomorrow and join the search for the little boy.

imo

And then he took an avid interest in the case .... while police were digging up his property and draining his septic tank looking for evidence.
I wonder whose FB page he shared the posted message from? If it was a private 'friends' post or a public post that he stumbled across when searching FB?

The grandfather whose house is being raided by police in the William Tyrell investigation has been posting updates on his Facebook page about the search.
William Harrie Spedding, posted messages including 'Don’t give up looking' and has shared links to the Bring Little Spiderman William Tyrell home and 'Where is he?'.

On December 4 the man shared a link and a message from another Facebook user that read: “Today, somebody is keeping a secret.
'They got up this morning. Had breakfast. Realized they need to pick up some more milk.
'Wasted time on Facebook. Made some calls. All the while maintaining a poker face.”

Police are still searching the man's home on the mid-north coast of NSW, which he shares with his wife Margaret, where a septic tank has been emptied and excavation is underway.

I think the Dunbogan trip was in the afternoon, around 2 pm, not sure there was ever a mention of it being in the morning.

He sounds like someone who has been doing it a long time. Sounds like a well versed crime form someone who has been training for a long time.

When BS told he hadn't hurt little William, he didn't lie: as a nice and friendly grandpa-type, he might have taken WT on his arms and carried him to the whatever-type car (his own or of accomplice), maybe saying "shush!" with a friendly conspiratorial look to little WT's face. Done. - IMO and only a possibility.

ETA: Wonders who was the actual client .....!!

Yes, we now know it was at around 2pm. But we are speaking of way, way back in time - at the beginning. I would have to go back and read through those threads, but I have a vague recollection of Dunbogan being his first alibi, with no time or other alibi (places he went that day) being mentioned.

I think that is what soso was referring to, as well.

It may have been something to do with a statement like this, that we had maybe heard before we heard the other alibis. Not really going to look any further right now, as it is a moot point anyway. Other than perhaps a changing alibi - which is the point we were trying to make.

Tradesman Bill Spedding, who also denies any involvement, told detectives he was repairing a washing machine in Dunbogan shortly after William went missing.

<bbm>

Scheduled to be there but did not speak with Gma, then why did he not arrive as scheduled as most repairmen would do?

Because he wasn't scheduled to be there IMO based on FM's wording in 60min interview.

Perhaps he had indicated to FGM he expected the part to arrive in a few days and thought he could have the machine repaired on or by Friday - but FM's wording indicates there was no appointment, nothing scheduled. IMO

He has told police that he had a missed call from the grandmother and could not contact her back.

It would seem he thought it was FGM who called and left a message. He was not aware the family had already arrived therefore probably thought he still had time to do the repair that day before their arrival. IMO

Beg to differ on that point. Maybe he was supposed to be there already (that morning) when the foster mum called. We don't know what time she called, do we? Maybe she wanted to make sure that the part had arrived, as he wasn't there yet.

And why could he not contact her back? Was apparently in Laurieton. Would he not try more than once to get through? His client was looking for feedback, his prescence, her washing machine repair scheduled that morning/day, according to police.

The 63-year-old became a focus of investigations after police learned he was due to fix a washing machine at William's grandmother's house about the time the toddler disappeared.

Mr Spedding had been due to fix the boy’s grandmother’s washing machine on the day the child went missing from her home, police sources have said.

Thanks SA..that is what I was talking about. Early msn reports.

Mr Spedding then went across the road to Laurieton Public School, where one of his grandchildren was receiving a principal's award.

Earlier in the day, Mr Spedding also had some work in nearby Dunbogan, Colin said.

Detectives visited the waterside hamlet on Wednesday and spoke with locals.

Mr Spedding's van was spotted in William's grandmother's street in the week after he disappeared and as hundreds of volunteers scoured bush land for a trace of the toddler dressed in a Spider-Man suit.

Colin confirmed Mr Spedding had returned to the grandmother's home to fix the washing machine.

I have read- and re read every msm article and cannot find one where Police state BS was Not at the school or coffee shop- only ones where they claim to have spoken to people (like the worker at the coffee shop) that can't remember seeing him. Even the coffee shop worker stated she "hadn't seen him in a while", but this was months after the time of WT disappearance, so it would have been a while since the time of his alleged visit.

A relative claimed they had receipts- https://www.theaustralian.com.au/ne...d/news-story/52d80cfbee859664e04a5e75d2839136 and so far, I haven't seen anywhere where police refute that fact..just media speculation.

Can someone please show me a link where investigators have stated they investigated the alibi and found it to be false?
Would help me greatly to understand why everyone is certain he was telling furfies about his whereabouts and was definitely not having coffee or at the school at the time.
TIA. :tyou:

nobody can because it hasn't been stated by the police.
that's my problem with the knife throwing around here with spedding.
there is nothing solid that has been released on him.
I can not take what gets printed by journalists as fact.
most of the time they are wrong and barking up the wrong tree.
for example today I have seen reports by channels seven and nine conflicting stories about the little girl killed by the dog.
one reckons she was bitten by the family dog another reckons she was out in the pram walking with her mum attacked by a loose dog.????
huge discrepancy within "reputable" sources.
the early reports about spedding I think including the original alibi can be taken with a grain of salt.
jmho

added later. I know how much everyone wants it to be him.
but you can throw mud..... doesn't make it stick .
there has to be much more on him that we don't know or the case is in big big trouble.

A whole day to account for.
From rising that morning and leaving Bonny Hills, to .........
Now, he cannot really say well, I was with my wife all morning. But Colin is making it known he was with her at that critical time.
Yet Marg and Bill said not a word about their day. When they accepted that one opportunity and spoke to the media.
I just don't get it.

The historical court cases might.

Who do you think the mud should be aimed at, out of curiosity? Am always interested in different perspectives & theories.

Its a valid point. If the job is there why not go sort it?
Does it mean only one job done for the day?

Sorry if has been asked, the part had arrived?

If the police name someone, users will focus on the named person, especially if they have historical charges with associates in prison serving time for similar crimes.

Understand that building timelines is as much about deducing the POI from the crime.

So its not knife throwing. There is reasonable cause.
