As i said i'm sure her issues are being addressed. Don't you think FACS will be on it?
Although in the caselaw doc. the Judge did state as far as he was concerned that there was no issue with the two other children in her care. But she has since been charged with the spitting and a little bit of pot possession which isn't even an arrestable offence. A fine more like it these days. You can usually carry up to about an ounce of MJ these days, and lots of the young people smoke it.

Just wondering which issues you mean here? Self-help support? Mothering support? Drug addiction support? Managing temper support? Violence support? Other support?

I don't know about FACs. What do you think? If the kids aren't being looked after properly, I hope FACs is. I hope for Karlie's sake that things haven't deteriorated to that extent again.

I''m afraid as far as I'm concerned drugs are drugs. Also, do you have statistics or links to show that 'lots of the young people smoke it [marijuana]' or MJ as you fondly call it. That would be a sad indictment on society and a curse on family units.

Sounds to me like that family cared very much about WT and LT but it seems in their ways of supporting were not found to satisfy FaCs. They can save the day again if KT doesn't get her act together. They can assess the situation and give them to another family to look after. Simples. IMO

Yes, exactly. And as they do.

I'm wondering what you're basing that observation on? The disclosures of NC? And who amongst them from what we've read in MSM is capable of saving the day again? Unless you mean paying for them to go into hiding like NC did before.

The reality is .... there is a chronic shortage of foster carers in NSW, as well as many other places.

There are about 20,000 children in out-of-home care in NSW and a chronic shortage of carers.
The Association of Children's Welfare Agencies estimates an extra 660 foster carers are needed in NSW over the next 12 months to meet demand.

By "issues" i was talking about her latest charges in regard to last year.

16% . I agree that's way too many and a sad indictment on modern society, but certainly not enough to be described as 'most' or a 'lot of' IMO.

Stats. aren't always accurate either. I mean if questioned about MJ use do you really think people are going to admit to it? Seeing as it's illegal in most states.

Just curious which family members would be suitable? Especially given that they couldn't find any of them who were suitable to take William and his sister. So not so simple, sadly.

Do you know for a fact that the family of WT even had a choice in the matter, because i don't.

That's children and increases with age. About 3.1 million used cannabis at the time of the survey. I feel sorry for the kids who have to live around alcohol and cigarettes the most addictive and prevalent drugs out there. MOO

Yep, and it's illegal for a reason. However, please let us get back to William.

I totally agree frogwell. IMO alcohol is so much more dangerous than MJ. Two of my young adult children died because of alcohol. How many marijuana alone deaths among young people are there? That is of course with MJ use only? I don't think one would find too many MJ only related deaths?

The difference is that cigarettes and alcohol are legal. But we're getting O/T now, so time to let this go. I'd be happy to pursue an academic debate on this, but this isn't the right place. This is William's thread, and that's what I'll focus on here and disengage from any further dissertation on the dangers of marijuana.

I do recall that there was a lengthy discussion not too far back, which identified that children were placed with family as a first choice if there was suitable family. I don't have the link, I'm sorry , so will just have to say IMO.

Yes and if the Govt. could make money from it they would. But hey they do don't they with fines and litigation in the court system. Medical marijuana has many good and beneficial uses for chronic pain etc., and has been known to cure cancer if the oil is extracted from the plant.

MJ changes the function of the brain. I am sick of people saying it is harmless.

"Restoring children to their natural parents would remain the first priority for the department, with finding a carer in the same extended family the second course of action.

But the Care Act would be amended so adoption was officially recognised as the third preferred option, ahead of handing parental responsibility to the minister. A court could only make an order for parental responsibility to be given to the minister if adoption or long-term guardianship had been ruled out."
