BBM I think everything is being used on purpose in these current articles. There is absolutely no reason why the public should have been informed of this intended search.

it does seem strategic, and there will still be covert surveillance on certain people who think theyd never be caught
i wonder if someones going to get the $million

My thoughts exactly. They want someone to know about it. But who?

I wonder how Spedding's Vic trial is going/has gone? Just wondering about the timing of this news.

William Tyrrell: Strike Force Rosann announces four-week forensic ...
"The latest search, which is to begin on June 13 from a search command centre set up on Benaroon Drive, is being coordinated by search experts from the Public Order and Riot Squad."

Interesting that they'll have the command centre in Benaroon Drive. Assuming they think he's somewhere close by or there is crucial evidence close by to the house that wasn't discovered earlier. I would assume they would have done crucial "forensic" testing and searching immediately surrounding the house early on. Especially as they hadn't gone down the abduction route immediately. I can only guess that new information has come to light or something was found. flagged and put aside early on and only now being revisited. Something overlooked? Everything crossed they find what they need quickly.
Also of note was that they canvassed 480 residences. Did that include all the SO in the area and POI that have been named publicly? None of them have stated having their houses searched apart from BS as we know.

The Australian is reporting that:

‘Nearly four years after he disappeared, detectives will on Wednesday begin a forensic sweep around the property where he was last seen in Kendall, near Port Macquarie.’

We know that there were sex offenders houses that were not searched. That was published over a year later (link posted way back in the threads). We don't know why they were not searched. Not enough evidence for a warrant, not the right 'kind' of sex offender, permission not given, sex offender proven to be elsewhere at the time ..... ??

Last time I looked, it wasn’t on the Court Lists. That was a couple of weeks ago though.

a forensic sweep, could they be searching for a body at gmas house or blood evidence, will they bring cadaver dogs in, also wonder if wilsons property will be re checked also?
are they thinking he was there all along?
assaulted and left on site, it would explain lack of scent beyond the property?
earlier reports said macquarie bush area was the main focus, now its benaroon drive

  • #1,248
yes youre right, and im off on my tangent about them searching houses!
it sadly seems theyre searching for a little body hidden in the bush and with possible new focus on someone who thinks they got away with it

Saw a news clip earlier where the reader did say police would be searching 'in the town of Kendall' which gave an impression of residences and while formally it seems now focus will be in the bush area, if deliberate human intervention is believed involved with new information it likely wasn't an outsider or someone passing through.

I won't be surprised to hear houses have been entered under search warrant.

Nocookies

Very... Does leave me with a little less faith that it was done properly initially. What could they have missed on and directly surrounding that property in all the time they were there? And 4 years later the need to go back... something they missed/weren't looking for? They must've had some info come in. interesting

It may not be solely a bush search ... maybe it will primarily be a bush search. Some articles seem to include "Kendall" in the search description, while others just say "bush". Maybe Jubes will reveal more tomorrow in the presser.

Strike Force Rosann detectives will on Wednesday begin a four-week search of Kendall and the surrounding bushland ....
Police announce new search for missing boy William Tyrrell

NSW Police today said detectives from Strike Force Rosann, formed to investigate William's disappearance, will begin the forensic search in bushland near the home.....

They plan to canvas areas already searched, and expand to new areas in an operation predicted to last three to four weeks.
It is not known what has triggered this latest search.

Police launch fresh search for William Tyrrell

There was no leaf left unturned in the town of Kendall by the time the search for William Tyrrell was wound back last September.
Police were meticulous in the operation – every path, every fire trail and in between.
Despite this local police still return to the search zones – from Kendall to bushland near the coast – to carry out training exercises just in case they stumble across something significant.
Locals still take extra care on their walks and drives around the town, just in case.
"You wonder did I miss something, more than anything else," one Benaroon Drive resident said.

Could something have been stumbled upon?

Whatever it is, it must be something significant to launch such an extensive forensic search.

Probably quite difficult to conduct that kind of search 'properly', at the time. They had so many unskilled-but-concerned people out there looking. Trampling over ground and possible footprints, pulling apart bushes and breaking foliage, as they searched high and low for a little 'lost' boy. Many small clues may have been damaged.

Two things .... we should hear more detail tomorrow, according to this article.

"Police will provide more details at a press conference on Wednesday morning."

And I noticed that the former use of the PORS was when they searched that bush area near Bonny Hills, where 'a vehicle' had been seen entering the bush.
They found bones in that search, but they were identified as belonging to an animal.

I suppose everything will become a little clearer come 11am tomorrow morning. Can’t say I’m looking forward to the presser, despite DCI Jubelin giving it.

For sure SA

Jubes said
Suspects in the abduction of William Tyrrell are being secretly watched away from the public glare of the country's most baffling missing persons case.
The man leading the hunt for little William, Detective Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin, said there had been a lot of activity play out in public - but there was much more happening behind the scenes.
"We're doing a lot of things that don't hit the public's attention and go just as hard on people. As I sit here, we're doing covert investigative strategies on a number of people," DEt Insp Jubelin told Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair.
There are almost 700 people in the sights of investigators. Some are of more interest than others, partly due to the way they had come to police attention.

"We base our investigation on facts, we don't speculate, [but] we come up with theories. At some stages some of our lines of inquiry have been played out very publicly."

Fresh search for William Tyrrell

Interesting the Bonny Hills search.
Up to 30 specially trained officers are stationed at a makeshift search headquarters awaiting instructions from senior homicide detectives.

“There are a number of resources from a range of commands that are assisting us with this search and it won’t be the last search that we conduct.”

More than 30 officers will descend on the area this morning, including the Public Order Riot Squad, the Operational Support Group, police from the north region and the dog squad including a cadaver dog.
We’re for Sydney | Daily Telegraph

This forensic search being coordinated by the Riot squad.

Wonder how many are involved in this lengthy search?
