So if FGM knew then it wasn't really a surprise visit. Only the timing changed. All IMO.

Actually, with all due respect, it wasn't a surprise visit. She knew they were coming. She was just expecting them to arrive the next morning, rather than the night before. Link coming - help would be appreciated!

:)

Edited to add - can only find this atm: WS thread # 10 - SA's post #16, point No 2.

Also: New twist in missing William case

ONLY days before William Tyrrell was abducted, his grandmother told repairman Bill Spedding she was expecting a stay-over visit from her family and could he fix her faulty washing machine.

That's right. It was not a surprise visit. Just the arrival on the Thursday evening, instead of Friday, was the surprise.

According to papertrail's post in Thread 36, post #448, it is detailed in the 60 Minutes interview.

The arrival of ff on friday 12 was preplanned. The surprise part of their visit is ff arrived on thursday 11th. Detailed in 60 minutes interview by fm and ff.

The first link you posted is the same 60 minutes interview i already posted from about the visit.
And as was stated it was "a last minute decision to visit nanna's."
It didn't state it was a last minute decision to visit nanna's a day earlier than when she thought they were arriving. But i guess that statement is left for interpretation by what was meant exactly, because it doesn't really specify in the video.
That is my point.

Is this clear enough?

P: And it was a surprise visit to Nanna’s?

M: Yeah we’d actually planned to go on the Friday, but we ended up the Thursday, leaving earlier, and it was a surprise for Mum and it was a surprise for the kids to go before, because they love going to Nanna’s, yeah it was a complete surprise.

IN THEIR WORDS: William Tyrrell's parents talk of the day their boy went missing and the 'living nightmare' they endure

Finally found the transcript that soso had posted in Thread 29, post 1081 ....
This was in the televised police interview.

P: So the kids had no idea either?

M: None, none, they were over the moon, we told them in the car once we picked them up.

D: They were excited.

M: And they were screaming with delight, because we get to do something special, which is stop at McDonalds on the way which we don’t normally do. It was just an adventure, a family going to see family.

Haha ... yeah. :)

We also know that grandma knew about the plans to visit (on Friday) because Spedding told the police that she had told him ... as P&G has referenced on the previous page.

ONLY days before William Tyrrell was abducted, his grandmother told repairman Bill Spedding she was expecting a stay-over visit from her family and could he fix her faulty washing machine.
In the weeks after police raided his Bonny Hills home searching for clues on the toddler’s disappearance, Mr Spedding, 63, told of a conversation he had with William’s grandmother at her home when he inspected the machine.

Yes, BS knew they’d be there on the Friday:

The fact that William’s FGM told him about their visit ‘calls into question toddler William’s trip to the mid north coast being a total “surprise” that nobody other than his parents could have known about.’

That's interesting because when asked whether Spedding could have known of the children's visit, FM said they didn't know. Does that mean Spedding only knew that 'family' was to visit, not the make-up of the family? Or is the first sentence the newspaper's opinion, and Spedding 'told of' a conversation with grandmother but didn't necessarily admit to any mention by the grandmother of the family visit at all?

I have never been sure that Spedding knew the makeup of the visiting family. I believe that he knew the washing machine repair was required quickly, due to the visit.
I think he likely took a little alone boy, without knowing whose child it was. imo

I think grandma knew the family was going to visit (on Friday).

Just to clarify my position on this topic of discussion.

IMO the washing machine repair would of been more for FGM's benefit than the FP's that were only there for a visit.
Didn't it state in MSM that FGM's washing was piling up?
I think the FP's would of taken enough clothing with them for a short stay.

  • #653
Who really knew the FP's in Kendall anyway? How often had they visited before that? I remember it stated that one time they were there for Christmas as other people had remembered them from that time.
But other than that i don't think it was ever mentioned they were frequent visitors there?

  • #654
Maybe grandma wanted her house clean, and without piled up washing, when the family arrived.

I would want my house clean if I had visitors coming. I might even want certain items of mine to be clean, so I could wear them when my visitors were around.

Washing might have been piling up for a while, because iirc grandma had been unwell.

Well yes, of course. It is not pleasant to have a broken washing machine when washing is piling up that needs to be done.

Thanks for the transcript. So in there FM's states it was a "surprise for mum and for the kids". To go a day earlier.

Also at that age William may have been in nappies overnight.

Could be? Maybe the pull up type if he was a bedwetter at that age?

If FGM didn't specify to BS that family were arriving with young children, then no one would have known that until the next day?
FP's arrive on Thursday but not sure what time? Early or later in the evening?
I haven't read anywhere they went out together that evening in Kendall? So everyone settles in after arrival?, and the next morning FM is out in the yard with WT & his sister, and WT is climbing in a tree. FF had to go into town on business, and by around 10 am. WT is found to be missing.
So IMO someone must of seen the children out there that morning, although far as i can remember no one claimed to have seen them, only heard some children playing. So did someone call someone else to relay that information if it was unknown previously that young children were at FGM's house?
