I think we all care about the children, and that's why the problem needs to be addressed. It won't go away on it's own. I'm fully aware that it is wrong & damaging to children. No one is saying you have to condone it... just being more more aware of the need for intervention and the benefit that intervention can bring, can go a long way. Hopefully in the future, (insert prayer symbol) it will be a thing of the past...
With all due respect iailwa and freely admitting great bias against and hatred for these scum, I believe intervention is far too soft and unlikely to have any positive outcomes other than for the perpetrators to use it as an excuse of being cured and to be let back out in society .

IMO there is no cure for them apart from castration and even then they should be locked up never to be released. Apologies if I offend anyone but that’s my opinion.

I agree, with a lot of what u say. was again thinking of that yesterday - castration. Is there such a thing as enforced castration? They should have to turn up to the pharmacy every morn - & then there's a man there with a gun! There are other areas of research too - they are beginning to map how their brains are wired differently, so with ongoing research, who knows what they can come up with; hopefully a cure? I don't know how many of them have 'never' acted on their impulse... the jury is out on that. Let's hope it's more than we think or suspect. After all, in this climate, who wants to come forward and admit they like children? If an increasing number of these men seek intervention, and they are successful in never harming a child, then that will lead to greater harm reduction - until there is a cure, or enforced medication castration. I like the sound of enforced surgical castration - myself... if someone has done something to a child. MOO

As far as lock them up forever, the legal system has a way to go, but that would be awesome. My preference is a deserted island, so we don't even have to inject funds. But they have to abuse a child & get caught, to face the legal system, & sometimes they get off, so it's better they never abuse IMO - ever (i know some bastards will - so a cure please! & much much more intervention until then)

I realise (stupidly) i may have hit a nerve discussing paedophilia & orientation. If i did, sorry, and please don't read on. It's not a nice subject - eek - i know

If the terminology doesn't bother you, just one more post about it (i hear applause). And in a way, it's really important because it suggests it will come down to intervention. Here's a link from Harvard's mental health team. The main points are:

Key points
  • Pedophilia is a sexual orientation and unlikely to change. Treatment aims to enable someone to resist acting on his sexual urges.

  • No intervention is likely to work on its own; outcomes may be better when the patient is motivated and treatment combines psychotherapy and medication.
  • Parents should be aware that in most sexual abuse cases involving children, the perpetrator is someone the child knows.

I'll shut up now, but my inbox is always open if anyone wants to retort or be nice :D

the documentary a place for paedophiles by british documentary maker louis theroux is very good if you can find it, maybe youtube?
filmed in a large medical facility /prison, which cost the govt millions to build, its chilling, some of them refuse treatment, and cant be forced to have it.

Thanks BB - I will search for it. It ringas a bell. But i don't mind watching twice. Also have you watched "the Witness" it's chilling also. I hope i got the title right - on netflix. Also "the chosen", which is similar, which i think is on netflix & also youtube

There is a film that has been re-released called "the jinx" but the original, like "the Staircase" was filmed some time ago, but both with ongoing court cases... So they have changed over the years. The Jinx (Robert Dusrt) is fascinating & so wonderfully filmed. They both are fascinating. The' staircase' is weird, they don't bring in the owl theory, which they did in the original. If you have time, & like docus, check them out - "the jinx" & "the staircase" - maybe u already have. The " thin blue line" is so worth a watch too... I think the thin blue line is a must :)

However, I can't / won't watch this.

The whole concept of an Adult preying upon a defenceless Child is far too horrible & inexcusable for me to be able to watch it happening, or to listen to graphic details of.

And I won't accept their excuses. If they had one drop of decency & moral fibre, they would seek help the minute the knew they had this sick tendency . .. I wonder if there are people who have ? That would be interesting to know IMO .

Exactly, they are despicable and should be dealt with accordingly. I've often said here i'd like to see them put on a deserted island to fight it out amongst themselves for survival, hoping may they all perish i might add. But i think you miss the premis of what i was saying. I think attraction to children exists (no doubt) & therefore it is a sexual orientation (all the others are good, the adult ones, & whatever goes if fine!), but these ones (those sexually attracted to children) have a sexual orientation that we can't let continue in our communites/world. Just take the emotion out of it & you may see my point. It's purely clinical that I say it's orientation, cause it is, & IT'S a freaking bad one when it's acted upon!

Ok I, just to clarify - am I correct in saying that Your Point was simply to say ' the sexual attraction of a paedophile is orientated towards children' ?

If so, I guess I say ( in the friendliest / sleuths united way) ' No 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Sherlock!' What else would it be ? In the simplest of terms IMO, is our 'orientation' that determines our choice of home, our clothes, our food choices , our partner .....

For sure that's their orientation / where they're drawn to / they're preference , etc. etc .

My point was that just because it's an 'orientation', does not mean it's acceptable or excusable.... we're not talking here about 'how do you like your eggs', which is an 'orientation' as I see it.. .

IMO, there is a 'societal' expectation that people will contribute, will assume responsibility for sustaining solid foundations of said society, and for sustaining the healthily functioning 'life process line', which does involve a respectful & nurturing Balance of Power.

Adults make Choices, and must be prepared to suffer the consequences of those choices. ..

If you're not sure .. I have no tolerance for those who inflict their power on another, and most particularly regarding our Children. (I'm not wasting an island on them hon, I'm pegging them on an ant's nest in the desert! But I'm getting concerned I'll run out of deserts!!)

As a side note re: the above ^^^ .... the perpetrator of the murder of Mason Jet Lee (Mason's stepfather) could walk free on parole in less than four years after admitting to brutally bashing the 22-month-old, who then died.
William O’Sullivan was sentenced to a paltry 9 years in jail for this cold and callous murder, as well as the days of severe pain that he forced Mason to endure before Mason passed.

LNP proposes tough ‘Mason Jet Lee laws’ to punish child killers
November 4, 2018

Thanks for filling in for my lack SA, and providing all this information.

The new sentences will be termed as 'Masons Law' in support of this poor little boy, who endured the most terrible end to his little life.

Another example of the very skewed 'balance of power'. .. and I'd certainly find an ant's nest for him!

I've so many other questions tho - why was Mason even with this 'step-father' ? What was going on with his Mother ? Why was all this just left to fester, until the day of his sad demise ?

I can't fathom how our Child / Family Services Ministers ( not the stressed out people on the ground) hold their heads up re this, and the many other atrocities that occur.
Has anyone heard of the assignment of extra resources in the wake of these incidences ?

I guess we just wait for the next headlines, listen once again to the carefully crafted 'skin doctored' speeches, shake our heads in despair, and move on again .. and again ...

All good I, it's sadly relevant.

Wow, though for me, was that it took Harvard to come up with those findings ! ..or perhaps that it needed a 'Harvard' badge to be published.. IMO, it's all a pretty simple deduction !

As with any addiction / orientation - getting over & giving up that 'activity' works so much better when 'the patient' is motivated.
I gave up smoking - you reckon that would've happened if I wasn't 'motivated'? How successful would our diet changes have been if we weren't 'motivated' ? Would our house be Cleaned, our Lawns mowed or our Teeth cleaned - if we weren't motivated ?

Wonder how much they earned from that study ???

Anyway, whilst I vent, it's not finding William.

I really feel that we need to go back to basics & rethink / re-explore.

If for example:
* we focus on a scenario where there is no human intervention in his disappearance - what then might be possibilities ?

* we focus on Human intervention - what have we there

* do we need to split the above scenarios into sub-sets

I personally really want to focus on William ( as much as I'll get caught up with my opinion on other stuff)

Answers will come, I'm sure. But I can't begin to imagine the pain that his families are going through, and for So long ... it's just cruel, wrong and unfair.

It just that some don't believe it's an orientation, while others believe they'll make excuses based on it being labelled as such. I'm the same as you - i think it's abhorrent to interfere with a child. Good idea not to waste an island. Anyway, I just think it's a conversation that needs to be had - what to do with the F87kers??!!

It was certainly an eye opener, thanks for that. Good to see they go there after finishing their sentences, instead of back into the community. Those that refuse treatment are assholes. man it costs so much money to keep them there too. Pity there's no enforced castration...!

yes, back to William :) If there was no human intervention, wouldn't they have found him by now? I'm thinking if he was lost, he wouldn't get far. The smell (so sorry) would have lead search teams to him ...? JMO

One would presume so TBL - except there's one thing that makes it glaringly obvious that we've missed something.

I don't think we have missed anything at all. We have read everything that is available about this case ..... plus, plus, plus.
We just do not have the capacity to know what the investigating team know. Why Spedding remains a suspect after all these years, and why four others are also suspects.

We will have to do what the media is doing ... wait until the inquest and see what is revealed. Let's hope it is not a closed inquest and that the media can report on the proceedings.

imo

just browsing for new news items about william and i found this from july 2018, i hadnt seen it before and wonder who or how they diverted police from the original search site?

Last week, the Herald revealed that one of these persons of interest diverted police from the original search zone in bushland metres from where William was last seen to the nearby Batar Creek
Search finds 'relevant information' but no trace of William TyrrellSearch finds 'relevant information' but no trace of William Tyrrell

Yes i remember this well. How did it occur? - perhaps a car trace, or somebody saw someone acting suspiciously there? What i think we can deduce I think - is that the person didn't hang around long, because police only searched a very small area...

Likely the person who assisted the police with this, or Jones himself assisting the police with the same matter. imo

The person who discovered the abandoned vehicle in the bush told A Current Affair he recognised it as the same make and model car Jones had been driving.
However, when the person returned to the car with detectives, it had been flipped over and burnt out.
It is the first time this line of inquiry, which will be part of the coronial inquest into William's disappearance, has been revealed.
Could burnt-out car help lead police to William Tyrrell?

Maybe it was TJ moving close to Batar, but as I understand, the were interested in someone living nearby. One of TJ’s friends/buddies?
