I don't think that a lawyer gets a chance to cross-examine in an inquest?
From what I have read, it is just the family/friends lawyer (or themselves) that get to ask questions of witnesses.
I may be wrong, but I have not yet read anything saying otherwise.

Have you seen anything that says otherwise?

I would think that the FACS investigation into William's removal should not be a part of this coronial inquest, other than the fact that William was removed and placed into the care of the foster parents.
I guess that is why I am wondering if the statement about the investigation is about the investigation into Spedding.

I think it's the general purpose of an inquest to try to determine not only what happened but whether there was anything avoidable that should be done differently in future.

Another point about Savage is that to my eyes anyway he looks rather like Spedding. If somebody claims to have seen Spedding somewhere he says he wasn't, it might be possible to argue that it was Savage.

One might take the view that the Savages have form there, drawing attention to the loner who left the street because he was unnerved by the investigation.

A few simple , direct questions to get things started with BS.

Did you go for coffee with MS? Any alibis apart from MS? Was there CCTV in the area?
Did you go to the school play? Who are your alibis for this considering there must have been at least a 100 people there?
Did you order washing machine part? When did you receive it?
Did you drive to Benaroon Drive that Friday morning?
What were your movements following the abduction incl next few days?
What happened to your phone records? Why were they deleted? Did you receive FMs voice message that Friday morning?

Must be other specific areas that he can be questioned on?

* forensic results from BS cars, home, office, computers, mattress (in office) etc

*Links to other POI.

Surely he could be ruled in or out very quickly? I still don't understand why it hasn't happened all ready?

As reported by the woman's husband. I think some people thought it was the Wilsons but Mrs Wilson went out much earlier.

I don’t think we ever did find out who that couple were, did we? Unless their names were edited out of an MSM article or two. William’s inquest is going to give us answers to so many of the questions we’ve had for so long. I’m not looking forward to it but, for many of us, it will bring a sense of closure. Not so, I suspect, William’s loved ones. Their lives will never be the same.

This article is from several months ago, but it's interesting. It compares the Daniel Morcombe case to the William Tyrrell case (I do recall the Morcombes urging Williams parents to go down the inquest route.)

Detective Chief Inspector Jubelin said of the coronial process: 'There is an opportunity for the evidence to be explored in the courtroom environment and that often elicits further information that we weren't aware of.'

An expert in the coronial process told Daily Mail Australia an inquest could be forensically productive when police were not making obvious progress and had nothing to lose.

Suspects could be cross-examined under oath in a manner not available to police in an interview room and witnesses could be compelled to give evidence.

“The police were excellent in everything they did and they kept it up and kept popping back.

“(But) somebody somehow managed to get him and disappeared down the road.

“I don’t know how it happened of course. He’s been taken to a place unknown.

“It’s something you think about, but you’ve got to let it go, otherwise you’d go mad.”

The William Tyrrell inquest will take place in late March next year.

Lawyers for a man who was named as a POI, William Spedding, gathered beside William's parents.
Mr Craddock (counsel for coroner) asked William's parents how they were, they were sitting next to Jubes. (It does not say they were summoned.)
The inquest seeks to discover if William is still alive.
The investigation is still happening, active leads are being pursued.
Jubes says still plenty of policework to be done.
Paul Savage dialled in briefly, he will give evidence next year. (It does not say he was summoned.)
Spedding has received a summons to appear during the week-long inquest inquiry in March (before it restarts in August).
FACS has been ordered to provide a statement about William's removal by child protection workers, and their internal investigation. (The one we heard about to do with Spedding?)

Yes, the article’s timing is interesting/good/coincidental for Ms Sutton, seeing as it has just been discovered by the rest of us that Mr Savage has been given leave to appear at William’s inquest; to say the least.

Honestly, if the ‘someone who knows something’ about William’s disappearance reads here, give it up already. You’re going to get caught regardless, so don’t prolong the inevitable. Jubelin’s not giving up. He’ll never give up until justice is done.
