My apologies...I've deleted that unintentional misleading post.

Just musing as to why police went after Spedding.
Let's see, he would have been on the radar early in the investigation, due to him being scheduled at the address.
Perhaps everything checked out in the beginning.
Then came the Crimestoppers call (or at least that's what the media says). Police decide to look more closely and ask a few more questions. Details don't add up.
It's not like Spedding appeared in the investigation at this late stage. He would've been quizzed from the beginning. Perhaps it was the Crimestoppers tip and the inconsistencies that prompted police to do the raid. What are the odds that they would get a tip about someone who was already looked at in the investigation (unless, of course someone did it out of revenge. I'm sure he would've told people his shock at being scheduled to go to the house the day William went missing.)
What I'm so curious about is the investigation into the cars that went into Kendall that morning. Was there another clue in there that helped them to get the warrant?

Here's a detail I hadn't noticed before:

The washing machine repairman went to William’s grandmother’s home on Monday March 9 to give a quote and was due to return on September 12 — the day the toddler vanished — but never showed.

March? Is that a typo?

Edit: It must be, The Australian and Fairfax say the quote was given just a few days before:

Fairfax Media reports Mr Spedding allegedly gave a quote to fix a washing machine at the Kendall home a few days before William vanished, and had been due to return to the house that day.

Oh it would have to be a typo surely
If not then that could imply grandma may have been in on it....considering it was going to take 5mths to fix...more than enough time to organise an organised abduction

But yes I think they have made a major boo boo

Where are they with their investigation of the repairman? I wonder if the 3rd vehicle has been returned yet? Do they still have his computer?

  • #668
If he went on the Monday it was the 8th September. WT went missing Friday 12th September
So out by a day and 5mths off....shame on you MSM

Haven't heard of any updates. I honestly think they'll keep it all tight lipped until they have enough sufficient evidence to make an arrest and for it to hold up in court

They need to have enough evidence before the DPP will approve

Yes, I think you are right. The media will continue to follow-up but we won't hear much (if anything) until he is either exonerated or arrested.

Due to the privacy I'm guessing we would be the last to know if William was found and back living at home.

What if police are now only trying to confirm WHO abducted him and where was he kept for a time.

This could be possible but not probable.
I'm just thinking out loud.

maybe something in his body language when he was first interviewed, he was interviewed twice before the search giving a 10 page statement, he may have said something strange setting off alarm bells and his van was probably spotted outside williams grandmothers on the days after, then posting on facebook and maybe even joining in the search, like the perps who keep appearing too helpful and concerned,
he may have been under surveillance and could have a bit of a history.
maybe the investigation into the cars was to see if anyone saw his van at 10.30 driving into kendall?

In a case like this, with so many people looking for William I really doubt police would keep news of him being found quiet. Unfortunately I also doubt the public will ever hear the actual details regarding his dissapearence if he is found.

with the recent searches, im thinking no news is good news, probably not for william sadly, but for an eventual arrest.
i think they have so much intel now and quietly putting a case together.

I'm lost. Why is a news article about a drug raid and a 23 year old's (unidentified) arrest which happened at a different caravan park than the one where the cries were heard coming from in 'the weeks after WT went missing', and which arrest happened half a year before WT went missing (April 2014).. important to this case? (as a side note - interesting how this 23 year old is not identified, even though he was actually arrested and up for charges, and meanwhile, poor Mr. Spedding's name is plastered all over the news everywhere, and he is not even a suspect, only a POI who is being looked into. Very weird.)

I noticed a few times in MSM that the Officer in charge of this investigation (Fehon?) said, 'it's a 3 year old child, remember' - to me that indicates that perhaps reason enough to investigate, get a search warrant, dig up a yard, drain a septic, was in relation to the fact that it is a 3 year old child that is missing, therefore they are taking every possible lead and running fully with it.. whereas if it was say, a grown woman, the requirements may be different.

“This is a line of inquiry that we are taking as part of the normal investigation phase for an investigation of this nature,” Mr Fehon told reporters.

Investigators searched “a number of premises” in Laurieton and surrounding areas yesterday, he said.

“Forensic investigators will continue a search at one of those premises today,” he said.

It was “truly just one line of inquiry” he added. “We were thorough up in Kendall so it’s just a continuation of that,” he said.

“It’s a three year old child remember.”

Mr Fehon said he did not expect any arrests to be made in the next 24 hours.

Among those statements was the one from Mr Spedding. Detectives allegedly found some inconsistencies in what he told them, which led them to the surprise raids on the tradesman’s former first-floor pawnbroking office in Laurieton and his Bonny Hills home last week.

“What he said did not add up because people he named did not remember seeing him,” a source alleged

He is not known to police, has no criminal convictions and has by all accounts led a quiet life with his wife Margaret, looking after three of their grandchildren.

if police werent using cadaver dogs and draining septic tanks, it could be possible someone known to william took him,
it would make sense for them to move with him from hideaway to hideaway, if someone, a friend or aquaintance was helping that person with use of known vacant premises to stay and maybe an old vehicle, and if this person was known to police and unstable and if this wasnt the first time, police would tread carefully and keep watch from a distance.
