The camera in a person's phone is a digital camera, just a simpler version.

Yes I'm aware of that, but if it was a phone that took the images I'm sure that's what would've been reported and stated in the brief...it say's digital camera, so I take that as an actual camera and not a phone camera

Unfortunately, the reporting on William in The Australian seems much more sensationalised to me of late.

the file name in the article from the Australian dsc01106.jpg looks like it came from an old digital camera, not a phone. MOO

Or an older smartphone?

My phone takes pics (still) with a similar file name.

What are you looking at that is making you think that, gaeilge?

I think FD's time of leaving can be corroborated by his cell phone pings. Hopefully they did so.
They have already verified the time of his Skype call and its location. As well as verifying the time of his prescription pick-up.

They may even have seen his vehicle on CCTV, leaving the area at the appropriate time.
And His trip to the chemist/pharmacist was verified.

Yes all this info has been 'claimed' to have been verified, but now that this photo info has been released, makes you wonder how full proof all the verified info is.

We've heard lot's of info over the course of the inquest where statements haven't been taken until mths/yrs later, some info not followed up, the area not cordoned off and the list goes on...So brings the question back to how foolproof the whole investigation is

From memory it was always a Camera not a phone, I also think it was in FFC's statement read out in Lia's podcast. Trying to find it.

They had been to Bali recently, I wonder if the camera was purchased in Bali? If so would it be preloaded as Bali Time and never changed?

Sydney NSW is 2 hours ahead of Bali

I think it is important for the coroner to firmly establish proof of life. With no ifs, ands, or buts.
Once that is done, will The Australian report that?

Yes, I remember hearing it was a camera, too. Others seemed so firm that it was a phone, I think I just went with that. I will try to find a link as well.

I'm actually surprised that this information is being released prior to it being released by the Coroner.

I'm thinking of older digital cameras I had.Not that old I still have one just don't use it. When I connected camera to pc the filename would be of that format dsc***.jpg Whereas if I send a photo taken on phone it usually has the filename format IMG***.jpg
Moo

Oh okay ... well, my phone definitely still takes 'dsc' photos, and brings them over to my PC in that same format. Just looked at some photos that I took of our beautiful Spring day yesterday.

Phones that take an Micro SD card will transfer as DSC.

All media is sensationalised. You can apply to the Coroner courts for documents that way you'd have the so called facts right in front of you

Sorry for quoting myself :)

Ep 2 - Two Families. Where's William Tyrrell?

At the very start, FFC states she always has her camera with her to take photo's for photo books.

Yes you can apply for documents that have been released by the Coroner, not if they haven't. IMO if these had been released CO wouldn't be the only one reporting it.

Starting to hear 'camera' references in Episode One of the podcast already. Video taken in Bali ... "How are you enjoying your holiday, William?" "Dood, dad" "Well, look at the camera and say good, thank you" "Good, thank you"... 9:25sec mark.

Thought it was always said FM pulled her phone out and snapped a few pics...now it is a camera.

I have been looking for a link, while listening to the first podcast, that says the photo was taken on a phone. Is that just something we assumed? As I am not finding a link that says that. Links that I am finding just say that FM took three photos.

I think all early media reports stated phone and that's where and how it continued to be assumed it was a phone rather than an actual camera

One time I assumed the photos were taken by phone, and someone assured me it was a camera. That was a few years ago but not right at the beginning.
