This is true lol! But usually around new info or reports. So I don't think we are due for a rehash!

May be a lot of rehashing going on until the next round of the inquest - or until an arrest and/or finding William happens. imo

I still think Frank Abbott may well be the unnamed convicted pedo on the draft witness list - by my own process of elimination.

I also think that what Geoff Owen said about Abbott not fixing his rented caravan up very well (or words to that effect) may not be completely about Abbott's poor workmanship skills.

I truly wish that we had a verified insider local on this thread who could tell us - in an allowed way - what the locals may know about Abbott.

I am still trying to work out where this is. We know has something to do with the sawmill however the sawmill has a range of areas and these photos are somewhere surrounded by bush. I think I read somewhere that another area may have been searched in logans crossing am I correct?

What interests me on this photo is the photographer walking with his camera up and shielding himself from the glare (it appears) as if he is on his way to snap a photo. Two of the police officers also looking in that direction.

In photo 3 you can see some form of a tool or something in left corner. It almost looks like a bent shovel with no shovel head on it?

Could it be a crow bar or some other type of 'snigging' implement?

Regarding the sawmill, I wonder what police expected the cadaver dog to find in that pile of timber? It's been 5 years since William disappeared. Surely those logs wouldn't have been sitting there for 5 years? I'm thinking they may have been looking for a tool of some sort?

Also, what is that little train station marked on Google Maps right next to the saw mill? Is it for transporting timber?

P.S. It's a relief to see this thread back on track.

Yes, it is a relief. Not without great effort by many though. :)

It seems that the sawmill may have been built right alongside the train tracks, or vice versa. Very likely for convenience in transporting timber imo. The timber industry may have been a primary industry in that area for some time, judging by the names of many of the roads there.

Good point, not to mention the theme park in Wauchope called "Timbertown".

The train line still operates (as a passenger line), but only stops at smaller stations like Kendall when a booked ticket requires it. But the Herons Creek station closed in 1974 and was demolished in 1980.

Police search teams converged yesterday on a timber yard and saw mill near where William Tyrrell disappeared, taking apart a large wood pile and sending a cadaver dog through the log piles.

The search of the yard, near Herons Creek Road and Logan’s Crossing, took place as the inquest into William’s disappearance was under way about 40 minutes away, at Taree courthouse.

A dozen police were assisted by State Emergency Service operators, who arrived with chainsaws.
A large excavator was also brought on to the site.

The dog ran over the woodpiles before they were taken apart.

Logan’s Crossing is just north of Kendall, the township William was visiting when he went missing.

Thanks Bear. Doesn’t really say where it was found exactly. So possibly around the same area as recent search.
I seem to remember a reporter on one of the news or current affairs shows visiting the site...sorry i don't remember the channel, but from memory, the footage showed him driving towards (or away) from the site. This may give more information? I think there may have even been some aerial shots. I also remember seeing logs and a large cleared area.

The reporter was from Channel 9/A Current Affair, as shown further down in this article.
Maybe someone has time to find the ACA episode? If it is still available, that is.

Could burnt-out car help lead police to William Tyrrell?

I thought we located the spot, actually, a big cleared area in Middle Brother off Stoney Creek Road. And someone had been there, maybe Iailwa?

It very much was. My ancestors of a couple of generations ago were from that general area and the timber industry and logging was one of the main jobs, along with working on dairy farms.

I'm finding historical references to another saw mill that was at 51 Blackbutt Road, which would be about where or next door to where the Herons Creek Heritage Community Chapel is now.

Maybe the search pictures aren't all of the same place? I think perhaps number 2 might be the in the area of Herons Creek Timber Mills bounded by Herons Creek Road to the east and Boyds Road to the north.

Another thing that has been interesting me is that it's plain from the texture of the trees seen from above that there is a plantation area off Herons Creek Rd between Cpt 70/6 Trail and Cpt 70/5 Trail.

I agree! I don't think the landscapes match. I've been searching around found a coupld which looks like a better match. I'll post when I get a chance not sure if it's too far out though. Closer to bargo area.
